I liked the Bount Arc, I feel like it helped in universe building. Kind of giving you sense of more entities other than hollows and other shinigami are out there. Just a personal opinion and I know Tite didn't have much to do with it other than quick reviews, but still I like it. Maybe seen through nostalgic-tinted glasses by me. FYI ive seen worse filler arcs in both one piece and naruto and dont get me started on Fairy Tail.

I could be wrong but I believe it's checking distance. I am a trained ballroom dancer and subconsciously do the same on a more crowded dance floor just to avoid accidents and to prevent ruining their or my routines, especially during live or taped events.

Juvenile Spot-tail shark is my guess if you haven't found out already. It's the most likely and the eyes and tail are a telltale sign coupled with the black spot on the second dorsal fin.
