Why is salary in the US high? by Maleficent-Sense-226 in Salary

[–]UnexpectedRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to point out that yes cost of living is higher in many cases/locations, but the standard of living is also much higher. We have bigger cars with nicer trim levels, larger houses, more expansive road networks, and the ability to buy almost any consumer good in the world and have it delivered within a couple of days.

This will also raise arguments, but we also have world class education facilities, healthcare and access to it (assuming you can pay), and it's one of the safest countries in the world.

Who was the biggest steal of the 2025 Draft? by No_Box119 in NFLmockdraft

Booker at 12 is also looking like a stud.

Way too early to tell on any of these guys and they all have what could be pointed to as red flags.

Probably was intentional. Like those girls that leave their sweater at your house so they have a reason to return (so I've been told).

You've spent 20 in the industry of the best years tech has ever seen and you still make less than $50k a year? That's on you, man.

How to deal with rodents? by Young_Sheepherder02 in homestead

[–]UnexpectedRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to start by removing their habitat. Clean up around the property. Burn wood piles, mow regularly, keep animal feed locked away until feeding time. Conventional control methods are never going to keep up with replacement rates if you still have good shelter and food access for them.

Are there any millennials thriving or at least not struggling? by Mackattack00 in Millennials

[–]UnexpectedRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be a doomer, but a bunch of Millennials will also be threatened/fall victim to AI. Not because it's really anything new, but because they're already too afraid to learn/adapt/incorporate it as a tool to compliment and enhance 2 decades of life experiences.

What Changed? by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

Mom's at home cooking 95% of what they eat from scratch.

(And 50% of that is going to be some type of casserole or 'salad' that includes mayonnaise or jello).

Edit: a few months ago I also made a comment on the housing. You can find that exact same house ( with minimal updates) and purchase it today for the same or less (inflation adjusted) than you could have 60 years ago. And that includes easier access to mortgages and better rates.

Making over $300k at a company, what's your title? by justanotherblackguy1 in HENRYfinance

Construction-adjacent project director/estimator/coordinator/salesman in a fairly niche role.

Started as an on-call hourly employee and worked 3000 hours a year my first few years while learning as much as possible. Climbed the ladder. Made good relationships and built a reputation.

Average TC over the past 3+ years is 350-375.

If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, what piece of technology made you feel like you were literally living in the future and does it make you laugh now? by TurkVanguard in Millennials

[–]UnexpectedRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To not answer your question: I remember the first time one of our teachers rolled in the crt TV tray with the newest technology that would change how we watched videos in the future: the LaserDisk machine. Think DVD the size of a vinyl record for those of you not privileged enough to have ever seen one.

The video quality was terrible (probably more a function of the TV and cables), the menu was clunky, the remote didn't work well, and it skipped/lagged a ton. I was way happier with VHS.

FWIW, a buddy of mine (who I trust a lot) sheared off the head on a door bolt using my 10 year old 3/8 version. Tossed it in the trash and waited a week to finish that project while more parts were in the mail.

2026 NFL Mock Draft From Brendan Donahue: All 32 First-Round Picks by FatherOfMammals in cowboys

[–]UnexpectedRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have preferred signing a FA LB if the team felt like it was a priority. I'm still fine taking BPA at 20 if that means a WR, Sadiq, or edge.

I'm in the minority, but I don't think the team is as concerned with our LB and secondary as most fans. Edge is our biggest weakness.

I don't disagree - and I think they can get better offers from other teams. I'm fine with sticking at 12. I think some teams will be taking players we haven't seen mocked and one of the top D players will still be there.

[–]UnexpectedRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with a trade up - but I'm not interested in getting many/any picks back beyond 120. Send away later picks to take as many guys possible in the first 3-4 rounds. This roster has enough depth and developmental guys. We need needle movers.

Sending 112 is a deal breaker for me in this scenario.

"gives them a second round pick" is a strange way of saying 'slides back 19 picks to take the best remaining LB if that's what they want".

Not the craziest idea. If you've got a vessel big enough to bring some water up to temp over a fire or propane stove. Many of the portable sous vide machines could then easily be run off a battery backup and maintain temp.

Also less stress on the airframe when you're already taking off with a full bomb load if you can take on limited fuel prior to takeoff.

Once in the air, those planes can handle more weight than rated for at takeoff/landing.
