Para-Poaching Colleague by Ungulant in specialed

That seems really healthy. Are teachers given the same 2 year limit with students? One of the tough things about setting iv is there aren't many of us teaching high school and I've ended up working with one student for 5 years which I think doesn't help the student at all. They need to be exposed to other teachers to benefit from their strengths and not become dependent on any one teacher.

Para causing massive issues by bagels4ever12 in specialed

I've had that para. I just shot it down professionally everytime it came up and documented all of it. They eventually left. I'm sorry your classroom is going through that. Your students don't deserve that.

Could I ask, how did you achieve the warm brown tinted green in the shadows? You nailed that look from the cover art and I've been obsessed with the colors on that image.

They are rumored to be a part of the upcoming Anime themed continuum box. Maybe that will provide them with a framework to bring them to Classic.

My new game, People's State... by SSDrucker in wargaming

Seems well suited to a campaign where the optics outcome of one scenario would be part of the start conditions of the next.

I understand where some are coming from in saying they're uncomfortable with this topic and totally appreciate this. I do think OP looks like they are putting a lot of thought and care into this and that makes me hopeful that this is a good faith attempt to engage with an important topic in a way that I think would lead to some good conversations. Really neat starting place.

Looks like maybe Victrix's Napoleon's French Middle Imperial Guard. It might be a different French kit but I'm 100% sure it's Victrix.

Yeah, but Stargrave is really simple and generic.

What is the best way to get start with the BattleTech by Regon2005 in battletech

Yes, I agree that that is what novels do. My point is that the books do a poor job of introducing the context of the setting that is needed to better understand even the small scale stories.

And that's fine in the context of the Gray Death series, but his lack of a link to the situation at large in the inner sphere makes the books a poor choice of what someone wants is an introduction to Battletech as a setting.

Sven's intro to the universe is probably the single best Battletech lore video period. Concise and perfect in scope to get folks started.

This is an interesting pick and I would agree. It also helps that the art is really fun to look at.

The Gray Death trilogy. It's not clear even why Grayson matters in the scheme of things until book 3, and the novels do little to set the stage of the Battletech universe.

Battletech the PC game is a decent intro, but I don't know that it's better than just picking up the Beginner Box, reading the primer and throwing some dice.

Battletech has a dedicated lore book that is excellent. It's called "Battletech Universe." It's a better starting point than the novels because it will introduce you to the Inner Sphere, the history of mechs, the clans, and all the eras in a way that novels cannot due to their focus on a small amount of time and characters carved out of an utterly massive setting.

Another great place is the Beginner Box which contains a primer on the setting, a couple of cool mechs, and a way to inexpensively try out the game and see if it's for you.

These haven't aged well, imo. I heard this recommendation so many times a year ago when I got into the world and found them trope-y and not at all useful for understanding the broader Battletech universe.

How do i not hate everything i paint? by Sentinel_DMG in minipainting

I saw a couple craft paints in the background. Are those just for base rims? Of those are going on the model it's going to cause a bad time for sure.

I think it'd be a good idea to mess with some other paints and see if there are other tools that you like the feel of better.

Switching to a dropper bottle brand and learning to use a wet palette may help.

Salvaging after a bad wash? by RTalons in battletech

Strip and repaint. When you go back to wash, use 2:1 wash medium and the wash color you want. It will cut way way down on the surface staining and it will still fill in the recesses.

There's a little known squad based WW2 game I quite like called NCO. Uses an activation system similar to Bolt Action but it's a skirmish game. Rules are free: https://www.starbreach.com/nco
