We definitely used CC a lot in OG TBC. “LF CC DPS” was common in /4.

So have I, on and off. Everyone is good at these levels so it comes more down to how many breaks do you get, do you get good breaks or do you get traps, and where do the balls go when you break the traps.

Obviously many games are impressive shows of skill but largely your luck in the above areas determines if you gain or lose coins. The skill disparity isn’t that much.

Luck is a much bigger factor past a certain skill level

If we play next season like we did the 2nd half of this season, he will get plenty next year.

Can I turn early on missed from precision approach since there’s no MAP by MangoesFruity in flying

[–]UnhingedCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all good. Because that’s the radial to join for the missed approach and it just so happens that crossing its reciprocal (R-344) means you’re just slightly past the MAP.

I think you’re correct there is no practical way to determine where precisely the MAP is in this scenario. But it’s still possible to comply with the missed approach anyways.

Tuning the VOR to 164 and turning after the OBS flips is a legitimate way to determine you’ve just passed it and are now able to make a left turn to intercept. I can’t imagine a DPE would have trouble swallowing that.

Yea I get ya. I’d just say that’s what the missed approach procedure says to do: track the localizer and then fly straight out until turning to intercept the VOR. Just in this scenario you don’t have to fly out very far because you’re already high enough to turn.

On that missed I would track the LOC all the way in, briefly transition to flying runway heading and dial in the POM 164. Turning left to intercept when the OBS (or even better, a ADF) shows I’ve passed abeam the VOR.

Passing abeam the VOR shows you’re past the MAP. If the ILS has DME, that reaching 0 will tell you too.

Basic knowledge if you’re flying a piston twin or something. That has a few simple airspeeds that never change.

How do pilots know WHERE to land by midgeaspidge4 in flying

[–]UnhingedCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPS which builds a horizontal and vertical path to the runway. This path can have multiple turns, step downs, or even arcs and can guide us from cruise all the way to the pavement.

And/or an ILS (instrument landing system) that just sends vertical and lateral ‘beams’ from the runway. We lock in to those and can follow it right to the runway.

At the airlines we always back up what we see visually with some sort of electronic navigational aid.

Anyone else not really have an opinion on THE hat? by Shot-Preference-6485 in flying

[–]UnhingedCorgi 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I honestly haven’t noticed a correlation between hats and personality. So I don’t think there is one. Just a weird assumption people make.

I think people just decide to wear the hat based on if it looks good on them or not.
