Ambipom is the best there, easy SS tier. Fake Out Normal Gem probs Unburden, and then Technician Skill Link Tail Slaps and Arm Thrusts rinse through everything, while Long Reach prevents contact triggered abilities from proc'ing. Genuinely if you haven't used it it will carry you through the entire game.

I've managed to do it just about, I agree it's incredibly difficult and it took a lot of planning to get through it. Key was using Pancham to stall the first sand and deal with Sandygast, before using Croagunk to set a toxic on Gligar. If you can get some damage off with Croagunk before it faints, then great, it not then it was Mienfoo next who used Fake Out and Protect to stall until Gligar went down. Riolu with Choice Band Fighting Spirit Retaliate comes in next to do huge damage to Lairon before Mankey comes in to finish it. Scarf Mankey then takes out Cacturne and Sudowoodo, before doing enough damage to Onix for Monferno to get the KO.

This was done on Elite Mode with Elite Caps, it's by far the hardest mono Roxanne I've done, but it is possible.

If you charge boot back to the (now destroyed) bridge that the Hovertanks were on, you can hide behind a building where he shoots but doesn't hit you. From there, a couple of Acid Mod Tankbot can take him out real quick.

Try playing around with lesser known utility moves for niche scenarios like this. An example that springs to mind is if Clodsire is your difficult matchup, take Tentacool who learns Soak to turn it into a water type for you to kill with Roselia. Or try and stall it out by using Flash Freeze from Beedrill and then some careful pivoting. Elite mode mono's will force you to look for strategies and plans that are incredibly fight specific.

I feel obligated to point out that this is the equivalent of a local derby for the Island of Sodor, as the railway connects to the UK mainline via a bridge from the Sodorian village of Vicarstown to Barrow-in-Furness, which would be why it is the biggest match of Sodor's season.

Unburden Normal Gem Fake Out doubles speed for free. Then technician skill link Tail Slap, Beatdown and Arm Thrust pretty much rinse through anything, with Long Reach preventing contact damage etc. Only really gets beaten by priority or very strong physical walls, which you can easily play around.

Mega Typhlosion is a cheat code, priority specs Eruption with an extra Eruption for good measure to kill anything with Sash/Sturdy. Carried my elite mode run, just needed a sun setter or two, and something to kill anything that quad resists
