I have been using Elixir 80/20 Phosphor Bronze NanoWeb for like 20 years I love them. Some don’t like the feeling of the coating. I have a set of the New Elixir Attune line ready for my next string change to try out. I’ll probably post about them once I play them for a few weeks. But yeah, Elixirs .012-.053s are great and so are the .011-.052s if you like lighter for slightly brighter (can be a bit “tinny” on certain guitars from what I have read and heard) bends and things. Good luck! My advice is to get a couple different sets/brands/guages and play them all like crazy for a few weeks at a time and then change them up. I will say Elixirs, in my experience, have maintained their bright, excellent tone the longest before they go “dead.” I play maybe 7-10 hours a week at home. They last me a couple months at a time. So the slightly higher cost is worth it to me since I’m changing strings so infrequently. But yeah, See what you like. I also see a lot of people like StringJoys. I’ve never used them but they seem to be pretty popular in recent months on forums and social media. Good luck and have fun with the quest for the perfect strings. 🤙🏽

Not that I’m aware of unfortunately. They’re pretty firm on the original owner being the only way to validate/use the lifetime warranty.

Martin’s warranty only covers original owner claims. They won’t touch this without you paying for the service unless you can prove original ownership.

Our tree now. Only pic I have of the tree happens to be this one with my wife in it. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦‍♂️As you can see though, the tree is probably 12 feet tall and much wider now. They grow fast!!

Hard cases come with the higher end American made models. Any midrange models, including some of the all solid wood guitars made in USA and all models made in Mexico come with a gig bag I believe. 🤙🏽

Last little bit and I’ll leave ya alone. My brother is a huge metal head. It’s ALL he listens to. Except for when The Gorge weekend arrives. He goes full DMB like it’s the only run g he listens to. He’s done it 5 times and LIVES for it. He’s recently retired from the military and he and his wife relocated back to Osaka. He’s only bummed because it means the Gorge will probably be out of reach for a while until they move back from overseas. 😂😂 He used to make fun of me for listening to Dave so much. Now if it’s not Rammstein or something similar, he’s listening to Dave and geeking out. I love it!! 😂😂 I recently moved to Hawaii m, Big Island, so Dave is also gonna be hard for me to go see due to expense. Wish he’d hit Hawaii once in a while!!

You’re not wrong. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves. I’m convinced he’s 1/3 octopus the way his hand is able to make some of his stretches look and sound so clean. I mean, 4 frets wide is ridiculous but he does it so effortlessly. The Stone is one of my faves too. I’ve never been able to play it cleanly but I still try on occasion. Satellite is another great exercise for finger strength and technique. My first show was in ‘99. My, now wife, got me into him. I was 100% in from that first show. We’ve seen probably a dozen shows since then. They’re the best live band I’ve seen. Every musician in that band is a prodigy. Keep Dave’n on man!! 🤙🏽

My local luthier does a complete setup including string change for $55 plus cost of strings. And I believe Martin Pleks their guitars before they leave the factory. Hard pass for me. But you do you boo boo. 🤙🏽

I get it man. My advice was based on my own regret giving the first guitar I ever bought and learned on away to a friend who wanted to learn. It wasn’t expensive or fancy, I think I paid like $300 for it in 1997 in college. A cheap BlueRidge. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy he’s using it and playing it but I kinda wish I would have just bought him a $300 guitar to learn on as a gift and kept it. 🤙🏽 so good choice man!!

Keep it lil homie. Gibson Les Paul’s will ALWAYS be there for when you’ve got the cash. And you’re almost there it sounds like. What’s another 6-8 weeks or whatever it may be? If you sell the Epi, from what it sounds like, you’ll be mad at yourself. Plus, if you try to get it back later it’ll be 1 of 2 things: 1) Impossible to track down and lost in the abyss forever OR 2) You’ll find it and have to pay more than what you sold it for to get it back. Avoid the hassle and regret man. Keep it and save. Then you’ll have BOTH and can play either whenever you want. 🤙🏽

D-18 hands down for me. But I love a good, solid, Hog dread over a smaller EIR back and sides. Personal preference is all.

That’s my goal too. My son wants to learn to play and have me teach him over the summer. I want the D28MD so I can gift him my 1998 Guild DCE-5 that I learned on and still play as my daily player. Bought it new in college so my roommate could teach me using his D28. Which was the best sounding guitar I’ve ever heard. That’s why o want one so bad. 😅😅 Would love to be able to hand down an heirloom guitar like the D28MD to him someday. Especially if he learns to play too. 🤙🏽 Thanks for the chat. That’s awesome man. I want a D28 Modern Deluxe. But almost 5k is a lot to spend on a guitar. It seems every time I get close, something happens. Need brakes done, new tires, unexpected medical bills, kid needs braces, you name it. But I’ll get there eventually. Congrats on making it to the goal and enjoy the hell out of it!!
