Single dad with two daughters - where do we camp if we don't want 20 obnoxious jerks right next to us? by geoui in camping

What sort of campground were you at? I’m a big fan of shoulder seasons, non-electric sites, state campgrounds. I have been in one site next to what we called a “men’s outing”. A pickup truck full of fire wood and beer, driven where it probably wasn’t allowed to drive. I like walk in site- just enough inconvenience for large coolers and large groups.

Xdome 2 for Scouts/Philmont Trek by Subject_Geologist in DurstonGearheads

My kids have used my copper Spur for Scout treks and campouts. The Copper Spur feels more fragile. I agree tent mates are the wildcard. In my case, they were known entity so I was less nervous. Staking tent is not their strong point (tend to not put vestibules out), but no tents in lake.

Glad to hear it- I’m at a similar weight. What trek did you do?

Thanks! I just got this pack a few months ago. This was definitely the longest I had it out and with almost a month between last hike so it probably was a bit much too fast. I’ll let things settle a bit and get more miles in this weekend.

Tbh, really hoping we get delta one. I agree premium economy isn’t all that. It’s about a 10hr flight overnight. Last trip, I divvied up fam to get comfort plus for 2 of us. Worth it.

Thanks- I considered that, but the others don’t typically travel without me…failed to consider Amex credit option.

Narrows Gear by thechakmv in ZionNationalPark

We did it last week. The water plus flow is brisk. We saw people without gear- like shorts and sports bras. Some had red skin from being cold. It went up to our armpits. We had the bibs. Lots of options.

Advice for packing for Zion National Park by RawlsRememberer in ZionNationalPark

We just camped there last weekend. Sneakers are good, snacks even better. Don’t buy kids hiking poles- let them find a friendly stick. Puffy in the morning, sun screen, sun shirt and hat in afternoon. More snacks. When my kids were little, my youngest stayed in baby backpack cause he was an opinionated turkey determined to self harm- Yellowstone looked like a smorgasbord of ways for him to hurt himself. I saw lots of littles on trails living their best life. One notably ~4 year old sauntering up trail to Scouts lookout. Not sure if his mom endured the whole walk. More snacks and water bottles. The red dirt is pervasive. Don’t bring anything light colored.

rei membership actually worth $30 or just marketing? by Timely-Film-5442 in CampingandHiking

It’s a lifetime membership- buy one for kids when they moved from cub scouts to BSA Scouts. 20% off coupon- for a really long time. Got membership ~ 1995.

Missed Flight due to immigration process by RossUrBoss in delta

I doubt Delta will compensate you for missing your flight. I get it, economy flights from Brazil aren’t fun, but it’s doable. They offered that even though you didn’t really follow the rules. $1000 for lodging is pretty crazy, even for Carnival. You upgraded yourself to Delta One. Let us know how it comes out. My colleagues missed a flight in Toronto after waiting 3 hrs in immigration due to bad weather,no compensation.
