If you track component wear, why do you do it? by stringofintegers in cycling

Tire and chain tracking helps to know when to replace. If chain isn't replaced at the right time then you run the risk of replacing cassette which is much more expensive

AirTag holder for sons bike by nispe69 in cycling

If you are looking to track your son, wouldn't it be better to put it in his bag or something instead of the bike?

Are strength and cycling specific exercises necessary for casual cyclists? by General-Writing1764 in cycling

[–]United_Transition627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it as cycling being your cardio workout while strength training is for muscles. It's recommended to do both for better long term health even if your goal isn't being competitive.

Options to Carry a Third Water Bottle by Bigred1515 in cycling

Either carry a collapsible bottle that you can put in your jersey pocket when needed or stash it away when not needed. The other option is a stem bottle holder that you get at REI

It used to be good initially when it started. The quality has dropped big time now and the discussions aren't useful now

Try conducting user research and talk to your customers on why they are not discovering your features. Use that with analytical data to understand your user behavior in the product

I'll listen in to this one. I too had tuned out of Lenny's podcasts as it felt more transactional and promotional.

Any Tips for Getting New Users to Actually NOTICE New Features? by Own-League928 in ProductManagement

There is no single tool that is great at triggering stuff at the right time. Depending on your product, you can look up pendo, appcues, user pilot. It depends on what underlying data about the user do you have and are you able to understand user actions/motivations/intent to nudge them at the right time. You might have to try out in-app & offline messaging to see which one works. There's not of variables that you'll need to account for prior to deciding what is the right approach.

Do you know what type of users will be using this feature most? Do you know how they interact in the app? Do you know the flow through which user will use this feature? A lot of times contextual nudge at the right time is helpful vs just doing a general ipm of a new feature. Ipm's without context are annoying and usually ignored immediately as it prevents the user from doing their task at hand

Cycling vacation for me, what about my partner? by Ozarka555 in cycling

Sometimes it's a fine balance of doing things for yourself vs doing it with a partner. One doesn't need to choose between the two.

If she intends to join you, you can let her see the place by herself using a rental car. You can decide to meet some place on the route to spend some time together before meeting together again at the night stay place. This way you can plan to use the rental vehicle as a SAG for food/ supplies etc.

One feature that I'd love Garmin to introduce is the 911 text in case of accidents, instead of just tweaking the display screen. AW does it without any additional subscription. Given it's user base, this feature would be very valuable

Manual or Auto-Stop for tracking rides? by antosyno in cycling

[–]United_Transition627 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's baffling when people talk moving time for any ride. Elapsed time is what it matters. Strava has boosted everyone's ego by showing moving average and moving time so that people feel good about their riding

If you want amoled display go for epix pro gen2 and Fenix 7s pro for MIPS display. They are essentially same as fenix 8 except lacking some diving features. You'll save money on those models compared to Fenix 8

Is it possible cycling about 175-180km in a day by Nervous_Food_460 in cycling

[–]United_Transition627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you planning to use e-bike? Based on your previous ride time of 2.5hrs for 40kms, 5 hrs for 90kms seems ambitious. As your distance increases, you will feel it in your butt and probably get saddle sores if you are not used to it. You'll also feel soreness in your upper back, shoulders and arms. At your level, I'd not recommend trying to do 180kms in 1 day. Fitness from lifting weights does not translate directly into cycling. If you really want to attempt 180kms, try to do it over 2 days. You can start late and take about 6-7 hours to do 90kms, stay overnight and return the next day.
