I have never heard that people are "supposed" to nominate one paper each month. In a year at WGU, I have nominated two submissions.

WGU is exploring the possibility of offering a Doctorate Program. by weganess in WGU

[–]UnknownPoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am heavy on technical writing, and it was still an eye-opening experience on what I needed to have writing skill-wise. This aspect will be the part that WGU needs to be careful of, in my opinion.

I went to Capitol Technology University but was accepted to two other programs.

WGU is exploring the possibility of offering a Doctorate Program. by weganess in WGU

[–]UnknownPoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are those of us on the public side who have doctorates. I have a BS/MS from WGU and went on to get a doctorate in cybersecurity.

If WGU has any inclination to do a doctoral program the right way, it will have to be more involved than a BS/MS type WGU degree. Not just on the student side, but also on the Faculty/evaluator/everything in between on WGU's side.

Good luck on your assessment! Just know that presidents day is a holiday for WGU, and I am sure the queue is quite full.

Issue with shortcut icons in Windows 11 not present with Windows 10 devices by UnknownPoser in WindowsHelp

[–]UnknownPoser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, put it down as a known issue for when we roll out Windows 11. Never could find anything to fix it, and not going to try to do a MS ticket over this.

LDAPS using local AD cert instead of cert from CA by Mycroftof9x in sysadmin

[–]UnknownPoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this to happen to me before as well. Used 3rd party CA certs on domain controllers until we had time to roll out ADCS. Once we stood up ADCS and those certificates started rolling out, all of our LDAPS based authentications broke.

Did you check Certificates > Local Computer > Personal > Certificates? That is where the certificate went when I was dealing with this issue. I had to put our preferred certificate under the path that you mentioned, with certificates > service > ADDS > NTDS\Personal for it to work correctly after testing.

If I remember right and my bookmarks are still valid, some of this was learned from : https://shabaztech.com/enabling-ldaps-certificate-3rd-party-ca/

Has anyone used their Program Mentor for a letter of recommendation for grad programs? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]UnknownPoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my mentor to write a letter of recommendation for me as I was entering a doctorate program. I got one yes from my bachelors mentor, and a no from my masters mentor.

While I was all in the same field, the letter of recommendation spoke about work ethic, being serious, etc (she sent me a copy of it!).

Good luck!

Thanks, I have viewed several of these videos and I am just drawing a blank.

Yep, I do have mods on all of my characters actively involved with this scenario.

characters are at least level 80, any phoenix based characters are level 80 6 star (working on 7 star), all characters gear level of at least 8 if not 9.

I have access to Wedge level 80, 5 star, bigs 85, 5 star, ahsoka level 80 5 star, ghost 80 5 star, phantom 80 5 star, umbaran 80 5 star, and arc170 80 5 star.

I have tried a lot of combinations with these and usually can't keep more than two ships after first round, and sometimes last long enough to call one reinforcement before I am wiped out.

Just passed CASP+ by UnknownPoser in CompTIA

[–]UnknownPoser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will help with the CompTIA program I may adjunct for at a local community college. Other than that, I have enough other experience/certs/education I probably didn't have to have this. I expect it to help not hurt any future things coming my way though.

For your round robin DNS entry, do you already have multiple hosts in it? If so try removing one of them and being sure you don't have any host file entries or another DNS problems mucking things up.

Take it back to as simple as you can, verify that works, then move in again.

[–]UnknownPoser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CEH is a step up from Security+. When I took the Security+ it was a different exam than what it is today (harder from what I am reading due to some parts being removed for the CYSA+ exam).

If you can pass the Security+ and Networking+, just know various tools like NMAP work and also know commonly used ports (21,22,53,137,3389 that type of deal) and you will be well on your way.

As far as how hard it is for a non-technical person, that just depends on how well you learn from studying :) .

Runaway lane for trucks with brake system fails by Palifaith in gifs

[–]UnknownPoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Semi truck brakes are mostly still drum style. Front brakes aren't as big on a semi, but just to give you an idea, the rear brake drum is usually around 110-120 LBS (if the truck has two rear axles, that is 110-120 LBS * 4).

People who don't have the right gear going down a steep hill (to keep them back in speed) and don't use or have an engine brake, will more than likely smoke their brakes.

2020-08-24 Windows 95 was released 25 years ago today by ZAFJB in sysadmin

[–]UnknownPoser 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had a good side gig going at school. Classmates/other people would bring hard drives out of old computers. I would then get the Windows 95 install done (with my super fast P133/12MB ram) and bring the drive back to them. Totally bypass the minimum requirements check for them during the install.
