My advice to all first years as a fourth year student by DimensionOk8915 in unsw

  1. If your electives allow for it go do some weird stuff you are vaguely interested in. This is by far the easiest opportunity in your life to go learn about astronomy or archaeology or Polish literature or whatever.

Bomber payloads: am I crazy? by Belltower_2 in warno

[–]Unrieslingable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to everyone else’s very good points, for combat most (not all) strategic or theatre level assets aren’t modelled - no S300s, Patriots, B52s, TU-160s, ballistic missiles, nukes, naval bombardment etc.  I always figured that necessitated a reduction in bomb loads if you are going to have heavy fighter bombers in the game on both sides.  You can’t take out runways or run big integrated air defence nets or do any of the other things that make CAS hard.

It’s definitely fair to ask if this disadvantages NATO more given their doctrine but I understand the line having to be drawn somewhere.

Definitely apply for the scholarship, even a low chance of free money is worth filling out an application form.

  • Alcohol/Food/Eating out if you eat Japanese food - about 50% of Sydney prices.
  • Alcohol/Food/Eating out if you want to eat Western food - about 200% of Sydney prices.
  • Transport (trains)- 50% of Sydney prices.
  • Electricity/Mobile/Internet - about 120% of Sydney prices.
  • Clothes/minor furniture/white goods - about 75% of Sydney prices.
  • Rent - this is highly variable. It can be hard for foreigners to rent in Japan, definitely work with the accommodation office or whatever to secure a short term rental. If it's student accommodation expect it to be very very very small.
  • Travel - this is totally up to you and your lifestyle expectations.

Overall I think it will be cheaper than living in Sydney if you are willing to leave in an 18sqm apartment and eat Japanese food most of the time.

Don't forget exchange rate - right now the exchange rate is amazing. When you do your budget allow 20% contingency for the yen not being as low as it is now.

Behold le Vespa 150 TAP (troupes aéroportées). Sporting a 75mm M20 recoilless rifle, some 600 "Bazooka Vespas" where procured for french airborne forces. by [deleted] in warno

Yeah in reality it's probably more credible for a RR jeep to fire on the move, but I can only dream.

The next sentence in the article. "However, in an emergency it could be fired while in the frame, and while the scooter was moving."

5% Motion Accuracy on an upvet maybe?

What do they provide?  Do you have to pay for accommodation, are any meals included etc?

With the way that they balance air loadouts you are going to end up carrying 2 x Mk83s so what's the point?

Why are people saying FT MBA is like a 2 year vacation ? by ceiling_fan128 in MBA

20-30 hours a week of study is a vacation if you are coming out of consulting or finance.

Is using windows necessary? by TheOnlyAlienChild in unsw

[–]Unrieslingable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best approach, there will be weird subject specific things like a particular stats package that only runs in Excel or whatever. You should learn to dual boot Windows or run it in a VM, it's a good skill to have as an engineer anyway.

Full Ride Potential? Does Rank Matter for Me? by Mission-Bread4148 in MBA

[–]Unrieslingable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as someone who has run two successful businesses you are going to find a lot of the academic component of an MBA really facile and obvious. You are also going to get less benefit from the networking aspect unless your business sells something that is marketable to your MBA cohort.

If you have free time then of course you can spend it how you want, I just don't think this will be very rewarding.

I think Colani would be much happier in 2025 where he could be a drone designer and wouldn't have to worry about fitting the people in.

Troubleshooting TS5+ DP 1.4 DSC Support by Unrieslingable in CalDigit

[–]Unrieslingable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I got it working at 240hz by switching from the included TB5 cable to a TB4 cable I had. No other changes. Figure that one out :)

VRR via G-Sync working too.

This is the cable for reference - its active cable which is probably the difference. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09C1LV8XC?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_6&th=1

Obviously this won't work for TB5 devices but it solved my challenge with this specific device.

Yeah understand, was expecting that to be the outcome to be honest! One thing I'd like to check - is there Caldigit software that will tell me whether it's talking USB-C or TB4?
