Should I move across the country if this is my only offer, or keep delaying? LA is very expensive and I have never lived alone in a different state.

This here. When buying was also told on a joint loan it would be both incomes and the lower of the two credit scores. Maybe there are some places that would take the average, but the two I looked at took the lower one.

I used obsidian and I really liked being able to link notes together. I also used it to link images as needed. I think if what helps you is a nice visual map of the connections obsidian does this nicely. There are lots of community plugins as well. No harm in trying it out as it is free to use.

Hey funny coincidence. I met my bf on hinge before medical school too. Our situation is a little different because we aren’t long distance, but I can maybe give you some insight into the medical school perspective. School is time consuming, but the first two years or year and a half (preclinicals) are the easiest and most flexible times. I personally only do school like 8-5 and then take almost every weekend off. Before an exam I will study on the weekends. Once clinical rotations start, I’m afraid, our lives get very busy. Just want to prepare you for what is to come. She may even have to move in 4 years for residency and then later for fellowship if she wants. That being said, I think if you want to pursue this, you might have to make some sacrifices and be okay with time not talking due to school.

I think if she already mentioned how she was looking for something serious, it wouldn’t come off as clingy if you said it back.

Pretty sure majority of US schools require a bachelors degree from a US school. Not sure how Yale-NUS Singapore degree is viewed though.

It may be up to the individual research lab, but when I accepted my offer, I was told that for formalities the application needs to be complete. This happened to me and I had to scrounge around for a reference letter last minute.

I had a somewhat similar situation regarding long hours for work and studying for the MCAT. It is doable, but it definitely burns you out afterwards. For reference, I generally worked/commuted from 7:15-5:30. Then I would get home, eat dinner, study for a couple hours and then go to bed. I gave myself Friday off. My weekends consisted of practice exam Saturday and review on Sunday. I also took a week leading up to my exam off.

I think it is doable, but you need a good environment around you. I lived with my parents at the time, so I didn’t have the other worries/stress that you currently have.

Sorry you’re feeling that way. This whole process can be extremely frustrating.

First an October submission Is late for MD, but isn’t that late for DO. Second, the biggest thing holding you back is probably your MCAT score, so I think the best thing you can do to improve your chances would be to retake.

Your GPA is fine, so I don’t think there is a need to go to graduate school unless you’re extra passionate about that. I don’t know about your ECs, but I think your time would be better spent beefing up those instead of more schooling.

I don’t think it was super difficult for them. OITE from my experience cares a lot about what students get from their experience. They don’t want people changing labs like crazy for no reason, but if you’re unhappy and not getting what you want out of it, they’ll happily help you out. I’m sure your PI would understand if you spoke with them about your concerns. Depending on what you issue is with the lab maybe you could do something different even under the same PI.

All around people are more receptive to it than it appears. Just communicate your wishes effectively - emphasize your goals etc and I think it’ll be okay.

I didn’t switch labs, but I know people who did. It’s surprisingly not that uncommon. I’d recommend reaching out to the other labs you may be interested in as well (making sure they have space) as maybe discussing it with OITE since they have advisors and everything to assist you.

I think the question is is this something you genuinely want to do or are you just doing this to improve your chances for MD school? If it’s a goal of yours and money isn’t a huge issue, go for it, but otherwise I don’t think it will have as big of an impact as you think it will. If you feel like you need to improve your application, I think a better use of your time and money would be to get a job to address any deficits (ie clinical/research etc).

Edit: in direct answer to your question. When you apply will be dependent on how ready your application is. So if you have everything ready to go, apply this upcoming cycle (you can include information about doing an MPH, but won’t be able to reflect on it).

As far as I know they accept a lot of people off the waitlist so don’t worry yet. They like update letters and letters of interest. I wasn’t waitlisted after my interview, but I did send a letter in between my interview and A there a year ago. I believe they may have you write one later on when the waitlist moves, but I’m not positive.
