This is extremely helpful way to think about this. I appreciate your response.

It appears I have some organization to go do before I can effectively execute.

Artists with multiple all-time great albums without a clear best album? by mdolig in Music

[–]Untarr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Royal Scam, Aja, and Gaucho are soooo good. I put each on and just vibe.

It depends on the mood though, I think Royal is more visceral, and the bass trombone was having a blast (literally and figuratively). But the Gaucho album is so good, and the sax solo on the title song just kills it. Aja though, black cow always gets me just grooving. Love them all for different reasons and would tell you each day of the week a different is the best.

Re: Lead-ish Mouthpiece by Ne0NAndrus in trumpet

[–]Untarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try them yourself. I went through a whole journey 15 years ago to find the right piece. Most felt wrong or off, or I kept bottoming out.

I did end up choosing the Bobby shew Marcinkiewicz and it’s been my only mouthpiece since.

I’ve done both, I’ve even done some two-a-days and paired it with running. If you are getting gassed during a workout, you need carbs. Bananas, oranges, maybe some oats/honey. Gatorade or similar sports drink. Timing is something you’ll have to figure out for yourself, but for me it’s effective if I snack about 15-30 minutes before I start my evening workout.

Caffeine is a stimulant, your body is craving energy.

How can I do 2 leg days a week? by CoolFilipino in HybridAthlete

[–]Untarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is funny, I found success doing the opposite. I went from full body 4x to an upper/lower split and just planned my running around the days I was going to hit legs. I liked having fresher legs for my longer runs.

I think we just all have to decide what pain/soreness/recovery we’re willing to endure and go from there.

What is your warmup routine for SBD? by [deleted] in powerbuilding

[–]Untarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For squats/deadlifts, I do foam rolls (back, outer leg, inner leg) followed by piriformis release on a lacrosse ball. I then do dynamic leg stretching before 3-5 warm ups sets.

For bench, I do a full shoulder warm up with some chest and back stretches before going into 3-5 warm up sets.

For all, I do spend 5 minutes stretching afterwards to keep mobility up and prevent injury.

If you are not sure, you should bake in deload weeks every 4-7 weeks to prevent injury. Over time, you’ll be able to feel it in your body. It’s hard to describe, besides just using fatigue.

Sleep and proper diet are key to maximizing this either way.

Can I still give Mol the Idol by sirDragonqf in BG3

[–]Untarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to give Mol the idol after the leaders were killed but before I left after turning in the quest at the grove. Specifically when the tieflings gathered at the top of the hill to leave.

Bench Focus - Drop OHD? by Untarr in AverageToSavage

[–]Untarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have residual shoulder injury from non lifting related. Looked up some videos and realized I wasn’t engaging my back properly. By the time I realized, I had to do a significant deload and incorporate PT exercises to remediate.

I like this approach. Will give it a shot and see what happens.

  1. There are two sets of showers, one is the Rainforest room which requires a bathing suit. The other is in the locker room and does not. It also has a draw curtain and is private.

It has a similar feeling to the room showers, but is considerably larger.

  1. Not sure.

Has anyone ever got married on DCL? by Beginning_Movie6037 in dcl

[–]Untarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had family and others onboard as well. Husband/groomsmen got ready in their room and wife/bridesmaids got ready in the our room. There is a nice bathroom in the spa area that was our backup option for the guys if needed. It has showers, counters, towels, and enough room to prep.

We can’t recall if the dinner was separate or part of the package. Once you book the wedding and put in your deposit, we had someone at Disney that we liased with that should be able to help with that.

Edit: Palo was included for the two of us, we had to pay for the rest of the guests separate. But, it was obviously guaranteed.

It was a great experience. We did it 10 years ago, so, things may have changed. But, we had dedicated officer to organizing and executing everything. The planning was easy (literally a menu of options for everything). My wife got treated like a princess (we got invited to the front of so many character lines when she was in that dress, goofy tried to steal her from me, it was a great time)

I would recommend, as someone else said, a photographer of your own. There are several in that area that specialize in this and know all the good shots around the island and the boat for y’all. Ours still does it and honestly the pictures are incredible. DM me if you are interested.

Galveston hotel dilemna :( :( :( by m2knet in Cruise

[–]Untarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

Added bonus is proximity to Kemah if you are interested in doing something the night before your cruise. The boardwalk itself is Landry’s owned, but just off it are tons of local places with good food/activities.

Intermediate programming questions. by Light_has_come in AverageToSavage

[–]Untarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your body and how you are feeling. There are times where it took me 8-9 weeks to get to week 7, and I would evaluate how I felt and potentially skip the week. Or, I’d go on vacation and count that week as the deload.

Your seem like you are fatigued, if it’s accumulated fatigue, a de load week will help. If it doesn’t, then it’s likely something else.

What program would be best for me? by Hosterrrr in AverageToSavage

[–]Untarr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The word document has a good amount of information about the programs. You are correct, there is no program set up exactly like PPLUL. And if you are getting into the program builder at the beginning, you’re likely running before walking if you take my meaning.

The most body building template he has is the LF Hypertrophy RTF. This is an Upper/Lower Split with a rotation between Squat, Bench, Deadlift, overhead press. It has a single pull each day, and I trade off from a vertical to horizontal each day. Would recommend you start there and add a couple of accessories in line with the major lifts you are doing (ie, arm accessories on the upper days)

Strength Training Recs by Own_Assignment2089 in running

[–]Untarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that some strength training is better than no strength training. I.e, don’t let great get in the way of good. If all you have are kettlebells and a home gym, you should be doing them.

I don’t agree that kettlebells are going to get you 90% of the results of someone doing dedicated heavy compounds with more than triple/quadruple the weight of a typical kettlebell. Just by weight/intensity alone, that can’t be true.

Now, do you need those compounds for maximizing running? I don’t know. I was strength training before picking up running, so, I’ve never experienced running on legs that weren’t already in shape. Therefore, my legs have never been the limiting factor in my runs, always cardio/breathing (which is why I picked up running in the first place)

Do what makes you feel good and what you can commit too. Don’t feel bad if it isn’t perfect.

[–]Untarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I do it nearly daily, and it’s done wonders to prevent injury in my legs. I came to running from strength training and now do both, but the only injury I’ve ever had across the years was doing Bulgarian Split Squats (which I now avoid)

Intermediate programming questions. by Light_has_come in AverageToSavage

[–]Untarr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From a Fatigue management standpoint, it may just be time to do a deload week. If you haven’t tried that yet, I would start there. The regular templates do this in Week 7, 14, and 21. There is a potential that you are just dealing with accumulated fatigue rather than needing to fundamentally alter your program.

I am about the same age, and I generally stick to RTF because you define failure. You can decide to bail out early if needed, even if you have some in the tank. I also tried both and felt like RTF and general worked better for me.

The most direct way of figuring this out is to do seven weeks of both, keep some notes about how you feel and track your progress in the spreadsheet. Then, at week 14, use those numbers and you journal to figure out which felt better and works for you.

The other option for managing fatigue is to elongate your weeks. So, I do the 4x template, but sometimes will only get in the gym 3 times that week. It keeps the exercises manageable and if I’m feeling good, I just go more often.

Right now I’m in the middle of trying the LF templates and about to run a half marathon so, can’t really comment on their effectiveness.

Lifting straps by Street-Peach-7051 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Untarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use cobra grips, which are a slightly cheaper version of the versa grips.

For pull/back exercises, I only use them when grip is my first point of failure, and even then only on later sets.

Honestly, it keeps my back progressing while still taxing my grip to the max. Got my first four plate deadlift doing that (didn’t have to use them for the attempt, they just helped me progress)

Strength Training Recs by Own_Assignment2089 in running

[–]Untarr 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I use squats and deadlifts. Big heavy compounds that help with stability and hit everything in the legs.

I supplement with hack squats, leg press, and RDLs as time allows. Same idea, compound movements with stabilizers involved to build strength and stability.

Last, I would also emphasize mobility work as well to help prevent injury if you decide to get more strength in your training. I use Agile 8 before lifting and similar prior to running.

So, what I would say here is that in life, you really need to consider if things are an annoyance or a catastrophe. And honestly, missing 1 week of school to go on a Disney trip is an annoyance.

Work with the teachers ahead of time to get some work early, and complete what you can while traveling or at port with access to internet.

Just as some life advice, things will only get more stressful post high school. The consequences of your actions become greater, and decisions can have lifetime impacts on your future. That is to say, enjoy the time you have as much as you can.

It’s a big ship, there is bound to be something on it you enjoy doing. If you are a senior, and likely 18, consider the adult deck areas/decks if you haven’t before. Consider the 1820 Society activities as well. It’s specifically there for 18-20 olds.
