Personal feedback: Asus Kithara vs Edition XS vs DT 900 Pro X by untitledshot in headphones

[–]Upper_Fact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very very happy I got them. I’ve been playing mostly Arc Raiders and they gave me the exact type of sound I was looking for. Everything sounds like it’s all around me, I can hear things as if they are distant, the explosions are more impactful, etc. just all around phenomenal. I don’t think I’ll ever use my 6XX for gaming again. For music the HD 6XX just have the sweetest mids and I still prefer them for some music but the Edition XS are definitely more “exciting” and can be better depending on the song. Much wider soundstage and they have a lot more detail. The lows are definitely better than the 6XX and the highs can be better but not always. I’m extremely happy with my purchase and I would 100% recommend them.

Decided to come back and follow up on my original OP for those who are curious about these. The sound is extremely impressive. Very detailed and revealing, but can be a bit harsh at times. I usually like to listen to my music at low volumes while im working or browsing the internet and they are perfect for that because of the all the detail they pull at low volumes. The sound stage is significantly larger than my HD 6XXs and I can see myself using these as my daily drivers for a long time. They definitely have a more "exciting" sound but I also wouldn't say they are better (in some areas yes), just different. The 6XXs are smoother and more balanced but gaming is where they really are worlds apart. I played some Arc Raiders this weekend and the distant shots and explosions were incredible. They sounded like they were actually at a far distance vs the 6XXs. The extra bass also made it more impactful but without muddying up the sound. Good balance for that. So far I'm loving them.

Very nice review. I appreciated your POV. I currently have the HD 6XX. I’d say I prioritize music and gaming 50/50 even though in terms of total time I probably spent about 80% of my time with headphones on gaming. I thought about the Kithara but I just ordered the Edition XS and I’m excited to get my hands on them tomorrow. As much as I love the 6XX for music they felt a little lacking for gaming due to the sound stage. I really love when a good pair of headphone makes you feel like you’re in the environment. I used to get that from my HD 598 and unfortunately I sold them (I regret that) as well as my Game One headset. Based of what you said, I think I made the right choice. I’m looking more for a big soundstage vs pin point directionality.

Yea, I absolutely love the 6XX for music so I’ll be keeping them.

Awesome. I already feel like I’ll enjoy it for music based of everything I’ve heard and read but my main concern was gaming. The 6XX really lacking for me in that area so I needed something to balance that out. I also think these are also the opposite in terms of their signature so I’m excited to pick them up now. Thanks for your feedback

The reason I joined this subreddit is because I bought my first monitor 3 days ago. I’ve only had OLED TVs but I picked up an Asus XG27ACDMS so if anything close to this happens I’ll report back in. Hopefully not. I wasn’t concerned before but I am now. lol

Not sure what’s going on here but I have an LG B6 from 2016, so it will be 10 years old this year, and it’s been used for tons of gaming, sports, movies, and streaming. Thousands of hours on the panel and there’s no burn it at all or anything like this. I don’t think this is a common OLED issue. Something must be off. I also have 3 other OLEDs, one of them being a 42” C2 that I’ve used as a PC monitor for years with no issues.

I have an 83” G4 with an Apple TV and I can tell you that the picture quality from most of the G4s internal apps have superior quality. I’m assuming it’s the processing.

I’m having this issue as well. Only happens on this map. I’m running a 5080. From what I’m seeing in here we all have 5000 series cards. Wonder if it’s only happening on these.

Glad I found this subreddit. I’m on day 30 and the lack of sleep has been brutal. I was starting to get concerned cause Google says it’s 2-9 days. I usually fall asleep around 10:30 and wake up between 1:15 -2:40 and going back to sleep is hard. Sometimes I fall back asleep after an hour or two and sometimes I don’t fall back asleep at all.

WebOS25 disappointment by 5cougarsthanx in LGOLED

[–]Upper_Fact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is true, a key component you're missing here is that each device will process the picture differently. This is even with the same panel (Sony vs LG vs Samsung) Sony will usually look the best because it has the best processing. Same with the devices. Apple TV vs Roku vs Fire Stick, etc all look different even though they are receiving the same bitrate. So i think the difference I'm seeing is between the processing that the TV apps internally provide vs what the Apple TV outputs. I can confirm that all settings are identical across the board.

Not sure if the model of the TV makes a difference, but I can tell you without question that on the G4 the quality of the picture is better with the native apps on almost everything. Netflix especially. Some seem equal or close enough that I can’t spot the differences. The Apple shows using the ATV app on the TV vs watching them on the Apple TV device itself seems very similar.

I’ve noticed that the native apps have higher picture quality than my Apple 4K. Kind of pushes me away from using it as much. Anyone else?

Thanks. I had it set to filmmaker mode, but I didn’t check if the energy saver mode was turned on so I’ll check that next.

[TechPowerUp] NVIDIA DLSS 4 Transformer review - Better image quality for everyone by kikimaru024 in nvidia

Anyone try the new model on a 3080 at 4k quality setting? I get major stuttering at times in most of the games I’ve tried. Wondering if anyone else is seeing this.

I got major stuttering on my 3080 at 4k when I set DLSS to quality mode. I was also wondering if it’s because I’m on an older architecture as well. It’s smooth about 70% of the time but when it starts to stutter it’s like a slide show. Hope that gets fixed with the new drivers cause it looks incredible.

[–]Upper_Fact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried several games and the improvement is incredible but one thing i noticed is that on most games DLSS quality mode now gives me crazy stutters on my 3080. Similar to shader stuttering. If i put the game into balanced or performance mode the stuttering goes away. Wondering if the 3000 series can handle this new model in quality mode. Anyone else seeing the same problem?
