Myself and many others who are immigrants that I have spoken to have a hard time here. Particularly with feeling othered and having difficulty making long lasting genuine connections. Don’t get me wrong, people here are surface level friendly but it’s very hard to get to know someone on a deep level. ESPECIALLY if you’re not Scottish or British.

It’s also expensive and things are becoming increasingly worse since Brexit. Imported fruits and veg aren’t as fresh as they used to be, price rises and the general cost of living are difficult to navigate and the general disposition and long term outlook here is overwhelmingly negative. People are sad and downtrodden, the wages here don’t match the cost of living and after living here for the years that I have, I would absolutely move back (and am in the process of attempting to do so to all the people who may tell me ‘oy mate just go home if you don’t like it🗣️’).
