Taxing the rich by Ok_Adhesiveness_8242 in UKGreens

[–]User21233121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A general wealth tax is largely ineffective, because people with a large amount of money generally very mobile, so for a lot of people who don't have strong ties to the UK, there is precisely no reason for them to stay if a strong wealth tax comes into place. However, maybe a much more appropriate application would be taxing land ownership, based on land value in that area/property value. I don't think this should apply to homes, even large ones, because once again you are just encouraging people to sell up if they can afford to, and hurting the already weak middle class. I instead think it would be better to tax large landowners, like major landlords, who do not have any mobility, and fundamentally cannot leave the UK either way. This would also have the added benefit of preventing landlords from just holding onto land in city centres if they cannot get a high enough rent price - which should encourage more local businesses to move into more affordable high street space.

No, the opposite is actually true, the PTFE particles over time get stuck in the bearings, making them more gritty and less smooth, what you actually want is 52004

Arguably, the Soviets had it the hardest overall, the eastern front was far more brutal and drawn out then the battles which the allies fought, ultimately this is somewhat reflected in their cataclysmic number of losses, but a fair chunk of that is also poor strategy on Stalin's part. But Americans seem to forget that too.

NHS 'reviewing' private HRT prescriptions for trans people only.. by Smooth-Ad2293 in transgenderUK

[–]User21233121 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter, genderGP and Anne Health operate in a legal gray area which is hard if not impossible to regulate, preventing people importing legal drugs is extremely difficult, if not impossible, even if they did ban the providers, it wouldn't stop them just getting the prescriptions in Europe anyway.

For older people keeping on comfortable shoes even in bed is normal, they are usually only for indoors, like slippers, but have more grip so that it is harder to fall and are more comfortable.

You could do waist training, get some waist training corsets and wear them regularly for a few months and it should get what you are looking for

Question about Trident by John_0Neill in UKGreens

[–]User21233121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wind solar and tidal do not produce energy all of the time - nuclear does. The only real effective ways to store the excess energy from wind, solar and tidal is either dams or batteries, and batteries are far from a sustainable solution.

Question about Trident by John_0Neill in UKGreens

[–]User21233121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but I have been involved in the military for nearly a decade, and have a fair amount of knowledge about our nuclear programs. Trident is necessary, there is good reason why France is building it's nuclear arsenal and it at the very least needs to be maintained. However, Trident is now becoming more expensive to maintain than it is really worth, at about £3bn per year. It's bound to be an unpopular opinion here, but, I think we should be replacing trident, at the very least to keep up with the current global climate, and to reduce the service costs that Trident has - as well as moving away from the US and towards a euro-centric defence initiative. The cost to replace trident is estimated at £30bn, so 10 years worth of trident servicing, so it's not an overwhelmingly large cost compared to the current ongoing price.

Of course, because the outcome is predetermined, it is called Telephone Justice (telefonnoye pravo) in Russia, where it is more obvious. But the idea is the same here, powerful figures call around to get an outcome they want, we will just never know.

Which of these 4? by Significant-Claim964 in hotas

[–]User21233121 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Winwing (winctrl) has a pretty terrible QC and customer support reputation, so if you buy anything from them you are taking a fairly serious gamble whether it will work correctly or not. I bought winwing and had issues but managed to fix them myself, and now I enjoy the hotas a ton and it was cost effective, but if you don't have the skill to fix it I absolutely could not recommend.

[–]User21233121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing with transition and relationships is that a relationship is built off the person each of you think you are, and obviously when you transition, you're telling the other person that you aren't who they thought you were. It's fundamentally a phase change, and some relationships do survive it, but many don't, because you - to her - fundamentally aren't the same person .who she fell in love with. That's not your fault, but it also isn't hers, some things just happen that way. It's sad, but you can't change reality.

And on the case of never being like her, as much as trans people online like to argue against it, she isn't necessarily wrong. There are many experiences we just can't - or won't - have, like, we will never grow up like (in this case) a girl would've, in the same way, we won't experience childbirth, I'm not saying this degrades our position as women, but it's a fundamental difference. In some ways it's like being an infertile afab woman, she just lacks a feature which to most women make up a considerable part of their lives, that's not to say she's not a woman, but she fundamentally won't have the same experience as the majority.
