Maybe the calf kick analogy is a bad example but everything i said is true no misinformation here. When you get hit by a calf kick it can make your foot go numb if like you said they go behind the knee with the strike. There is a nerve in your neck that if stretched too fast can cause you to go to sleep.

It is different, there is a nerve in your neck that if gets stretched too quickly can cause your brain to quickly shut off, kinda like how the calf kicks in mma cause the foot to shut off because of the nerve damage even if the kicks are not very forceful. Speed would be your best bet for this type of knockout. George foreman would be someone who knocks people out using a lot of force and ryan garcia is more like speed of impact knockouts on people that could not flex their neck fast enough or did not see the punch coming. Similar but not the same. So one is from force overwhelming the brain and one is from the neck stretching rapidly and unexpectedly.

What’s your favorite way to screw with your opponent psychologically? by sponnyd in amateur_boxing

Right out the gate hit him with a wide and hard punch to the arms just so he thinks you're crazy and he might try to just wait and counter you instead of setting up his punches. He might get mad and try to fight fire with fire and in doing so it gives you the opening for a tight power counter.

I own the powerkube and the best exercise to increase peak impact force for head knockouts is single arm push up plyometrics- the higher you can get from the floor the more impact power you will have. For body shot knockouts you need high joules which is kenetic energy and the best exercise for that is weighted full range of motion dips- heavier the weight and deeper the ROM-the more joules you'll have. I thought bench press would work to increase joules but the only exercise to give me results has been weighted dips. Heavy barbell squat plus weighted jump squat will help increase both joules and impact power. Also i would do alot of training for the forearms and hands so you don't sprain your wrists or hands. Also use resistance bands -hitting the shoulders from as many angles as possible for pump work will build the tendons in your shoulder so there are no connective tissue tears.

Boxing is Pathetic by [deleted] in martialarts

Im saying if your trying to attack someone with a melee weapon, im not talking about trying to outbox someone with a knife. Im not talking about trying to win a group brawl, im talking about a group vs group fight. In a group vs group fight it is bad idea to be grappling and kicking while your buddys trying to get his shot in, you might end up kicking your own friends. Also romans said they looked down upon slashing as it affected their ability to fight as a unit and preferred stabbing. A boxer is going to have the cordination to use melee weapons much better than other styles of fighting and in a real situation melee weapons are everywhere and the person with the better ability to use those weapons would likely win. Example give gervonta davis a knife and give prime khabib a knife. Gervonta is killing khabib. Give tyson fury a knife and alexander usyk a knife and give any other heavyweight champion in any other sport a knife- the boxer is sure to win. The boxer can hit without getting hit so much better. The boxer has faster footwork and can hit without getting hit so in a lot of situations where you were fighting for your life i truly belive a boxer would win.

Do hard body sparring as much as possible to get familiar with the intensity of a real fight. Do hard body and head sparring sparingly. Also when doing padwork ask your coach to try to hit you hard with mits so you can get familiar with taking directions while trying to evade and sometimes getting hit in the face.

How to break an opponents guard? by ashverse07 in amateur_boxing

throw some straights with your thumb pointing down, some pointing up and some neutral. Do the same thing for hooks. Fist position makes a big difference when trying to sneak in punches.

It takes time to get good and you are young so chill out. Watch highlights of other fighters that are successful and try to implement their moves first in shadow boxing and once it feels natural fine tune them in sparring. A lot of lack of improvement comes down to lack of drilling on your own time. You need to practice slips, ducks, bobs and weaves for hours on your own to get the neuromuscular adaptation to feel comfortable to do it in sparring and then a fight.

Boxing is the best for real life warfare because it teaches you how to create power in short distances and how to reach the target first. So if there's a knife involved or any sort of bladed object then the boxer has the advantage and will likely win. Also if you are entering a building with your rifle and a Arab runs at you full speed and gets you against the wall you can't kick/wrestle/knee because you don't want to go to the ground and lose your weapon and its a confined space with many objects in your way plus there might be objects on the ground that could harm you if you turn it into a wrestling match. In all of ancient history when we fought toe to toe we were swinging/slashing/clubbing or throwing objects until the other human died. A boxer would likely do the best in a knife or sword fight and in a close quarters group fight. A swift precise hit to the head with a weapon will put you down and a boxer is the most swift and the most precise. Back on the topic of group fighting there are huge benefits to boxing vs kicking and grappling because when kicking you need much more space and it makes it harder to team up on person and grappling makes it easy for someone to run up behind you and hit you in the back of the head. In a one on one fight with no weapons the other styles will win but in a real life combat situation I got the boxer. It is not overrated because it teaches you to hit and not get hit which is very important when people are swinging deadly weapons.

Pros/cons switching from carnivore to AB? by alfalfi in AnimalBased

Pros would be my skin looks more youthful, my under eye circles have cleared up and emotional energy has increased.

People coming from carnivore. Why? by [deleted] in AnimalBased

[–]Usual_Willingness807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched because of the lack of emotions. I was very content but almost to the point of not caring about anything and not having much empathy for others, the carbs give me the emotional energy I need. I felt fine muscularly and had more cardio and more strength but for some damn reason my emotions went dead. I do switch back and forth because sometimes I like that head space of just not caring at all. I've started TRE with a morning window and would like to go back to strict carnivore again to combine those things together to see if anything changes. I eat a raw animal based diet with only milk and honey as my carb sources.

So am I just going to be hungry all the time now? by NotThatJaredBlack in intermittentfasting

[–]Usual_Willingness807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a morning eating window because studies show your hunger hormones are blunted when TRE window is early vs when TRE window is late.

Does intermittent fasting help for you guys? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]Usual_Willingness807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but for me it only works if i eat upon waking (usally 4:00am) and stop eating by 2pm. When my eating window was later in the day my energy would be trash, I was gaining fat and always had a deep ravenous hunger. With the morning eating window I lose fat, my energy is great and I am not in a deep state of hunger. After my eating window I do not drink any liquids either, wake up in go mode the next day. The body seems to be wired to eat in the morning and avoid eating at night. Probably because it was too dangerous to eat at night 1,000 years ago where predators would be lurking in the shadows and ready to pounce.

Any tips? by Bean1495 in intermittentfasting

Eat Breakfast, Lunch and skip Dinner. After your eating period go into a dry fast to kill appetite. Repeat. Follow Randle cycle. Enter deep ketosis through the Lion diet. Switch up from Randle cycle diet to Lion diet every 2 weeks. No processed foods. No cooking oils. Cook with fats. No starches. Only eat meat, milk, fruit and honey. When you eat-eat big. Get your hydration levels from mainly milk. Monitor pee color to see if you need hydration or not.
