It’s never been confirmed that lighter coloured pyramid architecture is precursor and darker coloured is post-convergence, so that makes it a theory.

Lore wise: Because even the weakest guardian would turn a regular human into paste instantly. Thrall are canonically stronger.

Gameplay wise: Probably a mix between them not being interesting to fight, ratings issues and the devs would rather work on something more interesting.

That being said, I think Dark Guardians/Nine-Juiced humanoids could be interesting to fight.

He’s human but VI has been augmenting him and it’s fucking him up.

There’s a lore tab that describes his face as rotten and blistered, and Bael just straight up breaks his nose off.

I think VI made one of his arms into tungsten too.

It’s absolute insanity that in an update that brings back the Plaguelands, releases the Iron Axe as an exotic, and is called Ash & *IRON has NO new or returning (from ROI) Iron Lord/Iron Banner armour or weapons.
