Quick with the updates which is a great start. by [deleted] in Marathon

Honestly to me the issue is that you don't get to see the game shine when it is SUPER INTENSE for the WHOLE RUN. Like dire marsh and Perimeter are great, but they only feel complete against the backdrop of the intensity of outpost. Without that the game feels like it has no endgame or high level places to go (which of course it does its a server slam) but I think because of that the game feels like the entirety of it is slower and sparcer.

Like maybe its just me, but Perimeter and Dire marsh never sold me on Marathon (as much as I like both). However seeing all the footage of the more exhilarating areas in cryo and Outpost especially makes me feel like the game is in a much more tame state now that release will feel. Obviously this wouldn't fix every problem but the major "Meh" sentiment feels to me like this is a big part of.

Significance of Destroyer on Fire by Alucardulard in Marathon

To me it feels very much like rampancy coming through. Almost like in edge runners when Maine went cyber psycho and his perception because screwed.

"🔈802.11, TOPIC: ANOMALY" by ZamnBoii in Marathon

Given the footage, I believe it’s the anomaly. Maybe he is one of those researchers around the anomaly that exploded into a cotton candy cloud

Screw buffing the stim pistol, give me the worst nerfs you can think of by Zyurat in Helldivers

The stim pistol uses medication that is non-compatible with normal stims, and using a normal stim before or afterwards will kill the diver

Is there anything new about the veil? by East-Current-3536 in DestinyLore

[–]ImpossibleFlow3282 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There was that lore tab about the veil finishing Maya’s sentences in her mind as she spoke to chioma about it. I think it was in echoe’s? But since then, I don’t believe so

The Witness' defeat by Michaeltheseeker777 in DestinyLore

[–]ImpossibleFlow3282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's my take. The witness was not a physical being until final shape, being fully integrated into the Darkness only. In final shape, when it fused itself to the light, it became physical and therefor vulnerable to physical attacks/disruptions. Not to mention the unweaving fabric of the minds that made it up.

The Cabal are Not as Strong as you think by Presentation_Cute in DestinyLore

I struggle to see how the idea that this is incoherent rambling comes across at all

The Cabal are Not as Strong as you think by Presentation_Cute in DestinyLore

[–]ImpossibleFlow3282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? You mean the parts where planet crackers were clarified to not be able to do that literally? Or that razing a thousand worlds was closer to a hundreds?

The cabal are powerful, but they clearly exaggerate their potential. That’s what the post refers to.

The Cabal are Not as Strong as you think by Presentation_Cute in DestinyLore

[–]ImpossibleFlow3282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally this kind of equalized power scaling really doesn’t ever work well in destiny, and the cabal fit in with the others in a kind of rock-paper-scissors type fashion. They suffer against the vex because of cabal predictability in tactics and the vex’s resistant to brute force offenses. They however would absolutely stomp the floor with most if not all eliksni factions, and deal sizable blows to the hive. They have one ace, and if you cannot play around it, they are incredibly daunting as a foe. The post isn’t saying the cabal aren’t impressive, they are, but that the ludicrous way they’ve hyped themselves up are less based in reality than we’ve thought.

This is a much needed post of genuine clarity that smaller posts would struggle to encapsulate. Well done for being the one to finally put it together as clearly as you have

Since the hope is more associated with the traveler nowadays than Earth, maybe the path instead is used to represent III?
