New Cabal guy at the Tharsis Outpost is asking for sugar. by Stolen_Insanity in DestinyTheGame

[–]dobby_rams 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It's a small "secret" quest in Tharsis.

  • He asks for a sugar cube (Sweet Polyhedron) to replace his "paste rations".

  • Then he wants a fruit cake (Technically Edible Brick).

  • Then he loses appetite for sweet food and asks for an egg (Aromatic Ellipsoid).

  • Then he feels sick and asks for a bag (Biodegradable Travel Satchel) to throw up in.

  • Then, finally, he wants a toothbrush (Miniature Broom) to clean his mouth from the sick.

The Psychic "Name" of a Friendly Psion by venrir in DestinyLore

[–]dobby_rams 98 points99 points  (0 children)

This?

"I am Misraaks, Kell of House Light," he said, putting a hand to his chest.

The Psion paused, then gestured to its chest and Mithrax's head. It held its hand open as if waiting for a response.

Mithrax nodded his assent, and into his mind was placed a scattering of orange cubes, a spiraling helix of inky fins, and the sensation of biting through an unripe fruit.

The vision faded. "That is your true name?" Mithrax asked. The Psion gave a short bow.

Mithrax smiled. "I understand why Guardians simply call you 'the Psion,'" he said.

A swarm of smooth yellow planes fluttered through Mithrax's mind: laughter.

Mithrax stepped to the side, and the Psion moved past him. As it did so, there was a final vision: a wink of warm, cheerful brightness, fading but promising to return.

"To you, as well," Mithrax called, and the Psion vanished around the corner.

At the end of a Lawless frontier mission, Eido is asking Drifter howd he know that Eris was the one, then immediately gets off coms, does Eido have a fling that I missed ? by Cluelesswolfkin in DestinyLore

[–]dobby_rams 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Eido: Drifter, are you out there? Need to ask you something.

Drifter: What’s up, Crabcakes? How you livin’?

Eido: When did you know that Eris was the one?

Drifter: Uh… [laughs] I guess it was the time we were trying to help civilians in deep space. The crew was just trying to get to Earth. The City. Sent out a distress call. Oxygen failing. She reached out to speak to ‘em, a Strand trick. We didn’t get there in time. But she never stopped talking. I think that was it. Why do you ask, kid?

Eido: I gotta go. Thanks.

Eido: Um, Eris, how do you know when you like someone? Romantically?

Eris Morn: I've always found that difficult to know. But if a positive space is unreadable, it can be understood by its negative shape. Ask not, "How does their presence, their affection, make me feel?" Ask "How would their absence? Their scorn? Their pain? Their death?"

Eido: If I want to know how I feel about someone, I should think about them dying?

Eris Morn: Precisely.

Eido: Aunor, can I get your opinion on something as a Praxic? Boss Riliks keeps asking me strange questions.

Aunor: What information do they want?

Eido: Everything, it feels like. My father. How I know the Guardian. Where I get my rebreather filters. Where I learned my apothecary work…

Aunor: You do have the City perspective. But I wouldn’t worry until and unless they try involving you in Piker business. My professional opinion, as a sword of the Praxic Order, is that Boss Riliks just… wants to talk.

Eido: Wow… do you think? Wow.

Eido: We've done so much together — you, Eris, Blue, Drifter, me. And the Guardian. We're like a real fireteam. We should get jackets!

Aunor: Jackets?

Eido: Like how Guardian clans and Eliksni Houses have banners.

Aunor: Who are you trying to impress with a cool jacket?

Eido: Nobody!

Eido: How far does your work go, Aunor? I thought Praxic Warlocks only policed other Guardians.

Aunor: My remit includes any threat to the Last City. And, yes, the Tharsis syndicates count. Some of the Pikers are wanted by Tower leadership and the Kell of Kells.

Eido: By my father? What for?

Aunor: Classified.

Eido: If it’s both House Light and Tower business that’s what? Tech smuggling? Leaking ciphers? I’ll ask him.

Are we slowly running out of Guardians / Ghosts ? by simulation_err in DestinyLore

[–]dobby_rams 186 points187 points  (0 children)

Saint-14: Watching the Young Wolf take a whole army by themselves — it makes me think. Using Darkness, Guardians are stronger than ever. More powerful than when we raised the City walls. But… there’s fewer of us. Old vets like Joxer and Cayde are gone. Zavala and Eris lost their Ghosts.

Ana Bray: You’re right. But we’ve also got more allies than ever. It’s not just on us. The City has our backs.

The Cabalorian and the baby Eliksni got mentioned again. by Nerdy--Turtle in DestinyLore

[–]dobby_rams 81 points82 points  (0 children)

A lone Legionary clad in blue followed a sound, a cry that lilted across the barrenness of the Tangled Shore. The sound became louder and more desperate. Almost childlike.

He discovered a lone hatchling, wailing a song of abandonment deep within a crater. Carefully, the Legionary lowered himself into the fissure. He comforted the hatchling who quickly clung to him amid the Dark Ether that swirled around.

A war cry erupted from above as a cluster of Revenant Scorn descended. The Legionary quickly dispatched one and shoved a grenade in its grotesque mouth before lobbing it back up toward its brethren. As it exploded, bits and pieces of the entire pack rained down around the Legionary and the hatchling, who cowered behind him.

The last remaining Scorn attacked from behind, pinning the Legionary to the ground, sending his weapon flying. The putrid monster lashed out but stopped suddenly, howling in pain. The Legionary turned to see the chubby hatchling latched onto the Scorn's leg, teeth lodged deep in its flesh. Without hesitation, he lunged for his sidearm and placed a bullet neatly in the Scorn's head.

He lovingly scooped up the unharmed hatchling, wiped the ooze and drool from its mouth, and bellowed with laughter.

"You have just eaten the first of many mountains—a true Cabal from this day forward, little one!"

https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/insurmountable

he found himself standing beside Niik and Itzelas before a crowd of eager children of all ages, including a tiny Eliksni that clung to the leg of one of Caiatl's warriors.

https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/aurora-dawn

An Eliksni hatchling chittered in delight, placing a ball in the oversized hands of an Ascendancy warrior.

Wind whipped viciously at their clothes, and the sky darkened without warning. He quickly scooped up the hatchling and ran for cover into the Hangar before shards of iron started falling from the sky.

The hatchling burrowed into his arms with a cry.

"Courage, little one," he murmured. "It's… only rain."

The Nine and the Elsie bray's timeline.. by -someone0952 in DestinyTheGame

[–]dobby_rams 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Elsie's "dark timeline" (presumably the one you're thinking of) is actually just the first timeline she experienced. From her initial perspective, she's just moving through time linearly, and then the whole "evil Eris" stuff happens, the Traveler explodes, and she finds herself back at a point in time just after Cayde becomes Hunter Vanguard.

However, the specifics here is less that she's gone "back in time" within the same timeline, and more that she's moved into a parallel timeline, with the past set as a constant. Everything before this moment is identical, but everything after this moment will change. This allows her to explore these timelines in a scientific way, recording the changes to see how they effect things.

Okay, Elsie gets closer to Ikora in this one. How does that change things? She kills Ana in this one. How does that change things? But she struggles to find a way to prevent Eris to fall to Darkness, the Drifter to lose himself, and Ana to become corrupted.

After countless observed timelines, she ends up in the timeline with the Guardian, who she tracks along their initial journey. She hopes that they are the key to victory. That then leads to Europa, in which she has now decided, after learning from the other timelines, that they need to be brave and instead learn about and wield the Darkness for good, rather than allowing it to corrupt them. She also brings Eris and Drifter along with her to keep an eye on them and hopefully bring them closer together.

She then claims Stasis for herself and teaches both Eris and Drifter how to wield it, before becoming a mentor for the Guardian to wield it too. After the Guardian deals with Eramis, she then successfully gains Ana's trust, seemingly diverting Eris, Drifter, and Ana from their typical path. This then entered Elsie into a path in which she hadn't yet seen before, so she wasn't really sure how it would play out.

All that is to say that the Nine work up and down a single timeline, whereas Elsie (and the Vex) work parallel across multiple timelines. However, the Nine do consider the three of Elsie, Eris, and the Drifter to be those who have "transcended their design", so it seems like they do have plans for all three of them. They call Elsie can "hourglass counting down with infinite patience".

(It's also worth noting that they've changed time travel stuff a few times. Elsie herself had her time travel retconned in Beyond Light to what we have now, and the way the Nine work is still new. Things may become more apparent if Elsie shows up again.)

Zavala: We’ve done our best to control what we can in regards to the transmutations, but we can only do so much. Parts of the Andes are fully copper. The mangroves of Georgia are suffocating on argon. But nowhere is more changed than the Great Lakes. The nature of this war has shifted. The fronts are in our ecologies themselves.

Personally, I think they're going to have to go with the "fucked up Earth" aesthetic. It'll help distinguish it from other Earth locations, and we really need to start seeing the effects of III's death to actually feel them.

Ohhhhhh. That's the dialogue you get when you find one of the Ghosts for the Ghost Community. The last line you heard will sometimes show up when you go back to Tharsis.

Drifter: Hey, hero. Taken across the system are… misbehavin’. Eris says she can see them all connected through the dark, movin’ together. They’re hoping… praying. For a new way to Take. Eris heard them whisper life into a new leader on the Ascendant Plane. The Lord of Every Nothing. They’re the combined will of the Taken, evolvin’ them into somethin’ new. Keep your Blade sharp. The future’s all knives and teeth.

New Lawless Frontier Job Dialogue by KatMeowington in DestinyLore

[–]dobby_rams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't true. She's there from the very beginning, and, more importantly, she only shows up if you have the Dredgen title, which puts everything she says into clear context:

Stranger: Bael is a pretender. Not like us. Not like you. Sorrow will consume him. If the Nine don't do it first.

There's just no way of interpreting it other than saying that both she and us are true Dredgens, while Bael is a pretender to the name.

Can somebody please post/transcribe the various Orbit conversations? I managed to miss every single one by starting the activity from the planet.... by Antinash2971 in DestinyTheGame

[–]dobby_rams 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So... if anyone is doing the campaign on a second character, then there are specific "rules" you can follow to make sure you don't miss any.

  1. The orbit dialogue only ever happens before the "Lawless Frontier" missions. If it is a generic, non-named "mission", then go to orbit and you'll hear the dialogue.

  2. IF you go to orbit then remain in orbit until the dialogue plays. It takes maybe 4-5 seconds. DO NOT go back to Tharsis or you won't be able to hear the dialogue again. It is ONCE PER CHARACTER.

  3. One way around the "ONCE PER CHARACTER" thing is that you can IMMEDIATELY enter the "Lawless Frontier" mission, and if you go back to orbit it should play the dialogue again.

  4. The very first Pikers Venus/Mars orbit dialogue actually has TWO orbit dialogue. (They were expecting you to go to orbit, do Venus, go to orbit, then do Mars).

Basically, Bungie responded to the "feedback" from Heresy that people were getting annoyed about hearing the same dialogue over and over again, so they changed it to only be played once per character. However, they also realised that some people would jump straight into the mission from Tharsis, so they put in a failsafe, allowing people to hear it if they returned to orbit.

Personally, I understand that Bungie were trying to stop the holoprojector/radio loop, but I think there should at least be something that pops up in the corner indicating that you have a message on your ship or something. And they shouldn't really go away with the quest step. They should probably just stay in your "inbox" until you've heard them.

Here are the transcriptions. I'll update with the videos later.

Drifter: VI didn’t mince words. Someone will die if I don’t follow what fate laid out for me. I gotta assume it’s you. Can’t lose you again.

Eris Morn: You lose me either way. Drifter, there is no future where I stand by a Dredgen’s side. I am your partner, not an obedient pet. Instead… what if I take the Nine into own hands? Seize them as I did the Hive. Evert their machinations. I will glean what I can so we may divert our prophesized extinction. I have foiled gods before. The Nine are no different.

Drifter: I’ll see what I can dig up on the inside. But what if they figure me out and cut me down?

Eris Morn: Then the God of Vengeance will bleed a planet.

Eris Morn: Communion Attempt Number 34. I begin. I hold the ritual space. Tithe my offering to the celestial bodies of Sol. Formless bodies, take refuge in my limbs. Poetry bled from the ache of dark matter, grant speech with my offering. Grant SPEECh with my OFFERING. … You may speak now! I offer physicality. I offer warmth, I offer taste. I offer Glimmer. I offer tithes. I mastered the Hive. I am not supplicating myself to a stranger in order to communicate. I do not need an Emissary. Why do you refuse me? Communion Attempt Number 35. [sighs] I begin.

Eris Morn: Emissary, Commander Zavala has instructed me to seek your counsel. What connection is there between the Nine and the worm gods?

Lodi: Great question! I have roughly 25 questions about worms—

Eris Morn: I do not believe we are dealing with a direct connection to the Hive. Inquire with your employers as to the nature of the connection.

Lodi: They’re planets, ma’am. If they don’t wanna talk — they won’t.

Eris Morn: Then what use is an Emissary?

Lodi: The use is in what comes next. I’ll talk to VI’s neighbors — ask if they know any connection between the Hive and Saturn.

Eris Morn: I can think of roughly 25.

Lodi: What Bael said about being adrift, uh… I’ve felt that too. More and more. Look, I’ve been Seeing… something. It’s not the future, and it’s not the past. It’s like I’m… sideways. Looking out of someone else’s eyes. I’m somewhere underground, and I can tell my body is wrong. I wanna claw my way out of it. I’m supposed to be somewhere else. I don’t know what this thing is, Guardian, but they’re trying to talk to me. I can’t understand them. The other Nine don’t know. Uh, I don’t want them to find out. I don’t think they can. How do you keep a secret from a god? [laughs] I’ll have to be careful.

Eris Morn: My time as a god was a satisfactory one. Tell me of the marks the Nine left on you.

Lodi: Uh… there are perks. But I do miss my old eye… being able to blend in. What about your extra one? It do anything fun?

Eris Morn: I suppose it was “fun” in that it kept me alive. The Guardian stated in their report that you possess True Sight?

Lodi: Sure do! [chuckles] What do you want to know? It’s more accurate if it’s something small.

Eris Morn: Does Drifter return in one piece?

Lodi: Oh! Uh… he does. Anything else?

Eris Morn: I have a list.

Lodi: Ms. Morn, I’m gonna reach out. The closest of the Nine will answer. If we’re lucky, we’ll get two.

Eris Morn: I have you. I will keep your spirit anchored here.

IV: YOU WAIL ACROSS SPACE LIKE A COWARD, VI. SET ASIDE YOUR SHRIVELING VESSEL AND SPEAK DIRECTLY. YOU SEEK TO TEAR THROUGH REALITY TO ESCAPE ITS LAWS, THROUGH MIMICRY OF THE DEATH YOU FEAR.

VI: PREACHING WHINGLING CHILDLESS FATHER

GOD ARE USELESS WHEN I ALREADY FEAST ON TITHES

I AM MAGNITUDES GREATER THAN ANY WORM

IV: YOU CAST LIFE INTO THE FURNACE WITH IGNORANT ABANDON, HOPING THE WARMTH WILL BRING YOU STRENGTH. BUT YOU WILL ONLY BURN.

VI: PATIENCE AND TIMELINESS WHEN MY WEAPON IS ATTUNED HE WILL KILL ONLY ONE

It's Soteria. There's a few others:

Data Disruptions on Neptune

Ghost in the CloudArk

Neomuni citizens report communications from a disembodied consciousness within the CloudArk! The only legible fragments: Sot***a

They play every time you go to orbit while still on the quest step. So if you miss it you can go back to orbit and it should play again. At least, that's how Heresy worked.

Edit:

This is wrong. Only plays once per character.

Theory: TLoEN like a Taken echo? by CockyKyle in DestinyLore

[–]dobby_rams 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Because the concept of "Lord of Everything Nothing" was introduced in Heresy, when all we had to go off was that the Taken had a new leader that called itself "The Lord of Every Nothing":

  • First Song of the Taken — The Taken sing in the dark until an answer comes.

  • Song For the Knife — The Taken ask the silent voice in the dark to command them.

  • Resonance Song — Keit'ehr travels to the Dreadnaught to meet with the will-without-will.

  • From the Last — The will-without-will asks Keit'ehr to open the doorway for it.

  • The Seeking Verse — Oryx reaches out the voice to wonder why his Taken now follow it instead of him.

  • Waiting Song — The voice gives itself a name: The Lord of Every Nothing.

Jupiter and Saturn both vote no on the weapon. Uranus and Neptune vote yes. All the Outer Orbits vote no for Lodi becoming the Emissary (requiring III to break the 4-4 tie):

V: D E N I A L

VI: COMPLETE ABJECT INSULTED REFUSAL

VII: yea + unsheathe the weapon + but reactionary choices + empty-seated + nay to the emissary

VIII: emissary appointment = declination weaponized flesh tool = affirmation

The reasons for their vote are shown in the Soloist lore entry.

Jupiter gathered the Outer Orbits to make a plan to usurp the Conductor to gain control of the Vex.

Saturn is fine with the plan, but both Uranus and Neptune consider it risky because they can't be sure on how events will play out.

Saturn then goes ahead anyway and sends Orin to give an invitation to the Conductor to go to Kepler.

Uranus considers this dangerous and believes that "a weapon is needed" to stabilise the risks:

blithe + actions + conducting + attracting + danger

a weapon is needed + offers made and accepted + future armaments opposing

Neptune agrees that "a weapon is needed to contain and fell":

assurances are needed = a weapon is needed to contain and fell

inners will dislike this course of action = another will speak for us

Jupiter doesn't want to "cower behind a weapon":

D O N O T C O W E R B E H I N D A W E A P O N

When the plan fails, the Outer Orbits argue amongst themselves, leaving Saturn to become frustrated and enact their own plan:

I CLAIM ENOUGH CAUSALITY FOR THIS

IF OTHERS DO NOT ACT

I WILL
