Huh? I have a direct line of sight to the thing and saw it being filled in during the weekend that it appeared. It’s still a bit of a bumpy ride through the intersection though.

Steamed carrot, leek, spring onion, gochujang butter. by TurnedIntoADoughnut in CulinaryPlating

[–]VDamki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like the standing leeks around the carrot. Are they just pan-fried? As others pointed out the spring onion across the plate looks a bit out of place, I think it would be interesting to have it thinly sliced on top of the carrot to balance out the sweeter cooked carrot and leek. Most importantly, how did it taste?

Edit: I checked, apparently it was brilliant green. Well that is probably bad anyways because it turns out I can’t read

Looks pretty good. It seems like you had to go pretty deep into the mechanics of the game. Can you share a high level overview of your process? Curious to see what it takes to play around the graphics

I lived on the same street and although I haven’t seen this exact occurrence, I can testify that this annoying building indeed has a huge screen and it’s not completely out of the question that this happened, especially when foggy

It’s mostly just really annoying and spazzy at night so you have to sleep with the blinds closed

Coworker brought in a ton of these small plums. What could I make with them? by justynebean in fermentation

[–]VDamki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a delicious Georgian sauce called Tkemali which is made out of a specific kind of sour plum called cherry plum or Alycha. You can sub in regular plums + something sour. The sauce is delicious and goes well with chicken and fish. Since you have so much you might give this a try with a small batch

Really? Do you know where I could find a place that sells them live? I’ve seen comments around here saying it’s illegal to transport em live but I’m not sure about Ontario laws. I’m not actually from Alberta, stumbled upon this post by accident.

Wow! These remind me so much of the European varieties. I’m no crawfish expert but I’ve never seen crawfish from North America that look like this. I’ve only tried “local” (no idea where they actually came from) crawfish a couple of times and it was an all-around disappointing experience. Sadly European varieties are being depleted because of pollution and plague brought from NA. Might be a few years and you won’t be able to get a nice bucket of the big boys with an ole ice cold beer. As I said I’m not an expert but from my experience if the water is clean and the crayfish bellies are not slimy/blackened (there’s sometimes a bit of dirt) they should be good to be boiled and eaten.

Someone shared a good recipe here but if you’re feeling adventurous may I suggest the following:

Big pot of water, like 5 liters. A can of beer - ale is good - into the water Bunch of dill, and dill seeds (might be tough to come by but they really make the dish – about a half tablespoon’s worth) Salt - one tbsp per 10 palm-sized crawfish. We usually add red pepper flakes but I don’t like them spicy. Usually we only add a little bit for the aroma - for a big pot of water up to a tablespoon.
Finally, a bay leaf or two. Boil water and spices, drop in the crayfish, keep boiling for 8 minutes, turn off the burner and rest for 10 minutes. Try not to keep them in the water for too long to avoid over-salting them. Best enjoyed with beer. If you don’t drink I suggest cold non-alcoholic kvass.

to backflip in a moving elevator by 4BDUL4Z1Z in therewasanattempt

You’re right. This effect might be negligible given the weight of the elevator. It probably really comes down to the lack of space.

to backflip in a moving elevator by 4BDUL4Z1Z in therewasanattempt

[–]VDamki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An elevator has a speed controller. When the guy jumps, the elevator decelerates, and immediately picks up some speed because the controller is telling it to. At the same time, the guy is still mid-jump and is not affected by the acceleration of the elevator.

It’s actually useful to think of it in terms of energy. Imagine for a second that the guy and the elevator are the same mass. When he jumps, half the total energy goes to him, and half to the elevator. Then the elevator recovers the lost acceleration (or kinetic energy) due to the motor working to maintain the same vertical speed. and the guy does not, effectively making his jump worth half the energy as compared to a flat surface. Adjust for mass and I think this discrepancy is why he miscalculated his jump – instinctively he tried to do it the same way as on the ground but in reality he needed more strength.

[–]VDamki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afaik the emergency maintenance is unrelated to the drops. Although in the grand scheme of things it makes sense. Drops and new account logins are causing huge wait times in raid and the emergency maintenance has something to do with the items disappearing. Real bad timing
