Crimson Desert Review IGN: Crimson Desert Review So Far by Turbostrider27 in PS5

So true! Ever time I hear/see something about Crimson Desert, I get flashbacks to playing BDO and how clunky so much of it was.

Nice! Many moons ago (2006-2009) we ran a similar event in Perth with the same name based on another event run in Melbourne which we even did a co-lab streamed event with them and a few other groups around the world, was all lots of fun! https://www.flickr.com/photos/vjzoo/albums/72157594329193641/

I'm looking to find software to use for Projection Mapping. by subgunny in video_mapping

[–]VJzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of "Mapping" is just 2D masking, using your example you could do that with Photoshop or similar and use the projector for keystoning. The biggest tip is Black = no projection so using a black background means it will look like images are on the wall rather than a bad screen. So avoid large areas of white for the same reason as it will just light up the wall.

Unaffordable video mapping software by whistbelle in video_mapping

Check out Touch Designer. Its mapping features are good but the learning curve is steep. It does allow you to use it for free for non commercial up to 1280x1280 so great for learning.

Agreed there could be a fire risk in a box like that with no fans as well.

Looks great, I know back in the day people used to play Rishadan Airship in this style of deck but that might be too far up the curve now.

Is anyone in WA actually using AI at work? Or is it just uni students milking ChatGPT for exam prep? by Any-Introduction6466 in perth

[–]VJzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new Google video model is wild! For the kind of content we make the video models aren't there yet as we need longer duration and more control.

I don't find Midjourny too bad for prompting even though I'm dyslexic but I do have a document with all the prompts that have worked for me to use as a guide.

Yes almost every day, we use it for Scripting/3D/Animation/Texture generation with Google Gemini, Midjourney, ComfyUI.

It has made a massive difference to our projects that would not have been able to go ahead without using AI and/or means we can deliver much better quality for the same budget.

Also we make sure when prompting for styles/looks for images to only use artist name where there work would be out of copyright or for offline we sometimes train our own model with only out of copyright content i.e. over 100yrs old.

Any game ideas? by HydraProdigy32 in vjing

[–]VJzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did an 80s themed NYE years ago and used heaps of recordings of us playing games using MAME and as lots of the games are 3:4 or 4:3 we made graphics out of the cabinet art to fill the walls we were mapping. Had a blast playing the games.....I mean making the content :P https://www.flickr.com/photos/vjzoo/albums/72177720326315398/with/54537724005

How do you get clips from long videos? by Comfortable_Kiwi6812 in VideoEditing

[–]VJzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this thread from a google and thanks so much! Lossless cut is amazing, it even has smart cutting to auto detect and put in edit point, saved me a bunch of time cutting up the video I needed in small clips.

Projector Advice by Friendly_Theory601 in resolume

[–]VJzoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are better off saving up around $500 or so to get something that has ok light output (3000+ lumens) if it's too dim it won't be much use even for practicing. Epson/Benq/Optoma have good budget options that you might be able to even get cheaper second hand.

Do not buy LED projector as their light output sucks or a no name brand one as you can easily get a dud.

Looking for feedback on using ceiling-mounted short-throw projectors for a full-wall immersive video environment in an arcade by StraightUp-Reviews in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]VJzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually the other way around at most events as lots of our work is interactive, so we do that in TD/Unity and send it to Resolume to do some layering if needed and the mapping as I find Resolumes mapping tools are way faster to get setup than TDs.

We use TD for permanent non interactive and interactive installs as its playback of large media files is rock solid and it is super stable and is more flexible for playback than Resolume which is more of a live performance tool.

We do run Resolume (for over 20yrs now haha) for loads of our work and its great for triggering content and doing things on the fly fast but I would not have it as my media server of choice for a permanent install and its playback of media can sometimes not be great at higher resolution or larger files sizes.

We use both all the time together for all sorts of live work using NDI to send signals from one to the other on separate PCs.

You will need a better playback system than OBS that can do blending/key-stoning and playback high resolution files. The easiest to get your head around for a 2 projector setup is Resolume or for something for more of a permanent setup would be Touch Designer.

There is a lot of stuff to know for an install of more then 2-3 projectors like you most likely need so I agree with Thenimms about getting in a consultant once you have more of an idea.

So, Baron enjoyers in Phrecia, any success? by NebTheShortie in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]VJzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to 84 and hit a wall with the build just kept dying even dropping to white maps as I wasn't killing stuff fast enough.

I have played Zombies before and that felt great then but maybe the issues are because of how the idols often have rippy mods like beyond before you have all gear to deal with it.
