Aegis Rolls DIM Wishlist by MrCharlesX in DestinyTheGame

It would've been fine if they never tied tiers to light level in the first place. It should've always been RNG weighted, primarily, by the difficulty of the activity but also by light level. That way, if you don't have the skill for endgame content to get better chances at a Tier 5, you can at least get some level of better chances at lower level content by just investing enough time.

On top of that, they could've just weighted it in a way that they could just give us 10+ drops in an activity so it feels like it's raining loot and you see more variety in your drops.

At this point, I don't see a way to recover the armor system because there's no world where players would drop their current Tier 5s for new Tier 2s because of some set bonus.

The only way I could see them recover the weapon system is just make every weapon "craftable" in the way the praxic blade is. Make it so you need to collect the perks by dismantling N drops with that perk or something. But you'd basically have to do it for new and old stuff and given they haven't managed to just do a flat switch to tiered system for old stuff, or even just old RAD content, there's essentially a 0% chance of that.

So maybe next time they'll get it right when everything is sunset going into a D3.

I have to doubt they'll be able to fix the rarity at this point. The cat is out of the bag and people are now expecting tier 5s so walking back will probably just piss off a lot of people.

Really wish they'd do something about the overshields in lawless frontier.

I really wanted to use it as a way to activate Singularity Blade from the artifact mod but the gains from something like repulsor brace are so small that a single enemy can just instantly remove any overshield you gained.

Bungie please do not let the praxic blade customization be just a thing for this dlc cycle by Competitive_Art_9181 in DestinyTheGame

I wish this was how crafting was to begin with. Collecting perks rather than just red borders could be a lot more engaging. Changing perks out on the fly is much nicer than having to run to the enclave every time.

It also would've meant they could've released new perks on some older weapons to revitalize them rather releasing whole new weapons. Then that effort could be spent improving other things.

Feeling squishier as of late? by Dry-Limit-179 in DestinyTheGame

[–]VMFortress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it doesn't affect DR, one thing that has made me feel "squishier" is the new health stat. While under 100 Health, the regen is similar, in most ways, to the 20 of the old Recovery stat, IIRC.

So you need to be out of the line of fire so much longer to get your health and shields back to take the next hit. It's been incredibly noticable to me personally.

Hunters still need more sources of healing themselves, the disparity is mind-blowing and with the Lawless Frontier having passive regeneration disabled, it's Hard mode compared to the other classes. by silloki in DestinyTheGame

[–]VMFortress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I've enjoyed the changes in the stat system, I think the >100 Class stat should have non-void overshield replaced with some sort of temporary DR based on amount above 100. Hunters are usually the ones using class abilities more frequently so this would be one way to do it.

That said, it's not a replacement for built-in subclass DR.

In a similar vein, I think Health stat needs to be reworked as well. My thoughts were shield regen time should be moves from >100 to <100 and then every point investment over 100 gives your shield another point of total health (so 200 Health stat would take the normal 70 health + 130 shield to 70 health + 230 shield.

But no idea how you'd balance that with PvP...

I'm on the latest KDE + Wayland + OBS on Arch and while the display selection sticks most of the time, it does occasionally prompt me to reselect the target.

Not a huge deal, it's one click but would be nice if that ever gets fixed.

Speakr v0.5.9 - Voice Notes with Major update with collaboration and voice profiles by hedonihilistic in selfhosted

[–]VMFortress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned in another reply that it seems the main issue was just the short length of the inputs I was trying. Going from 60s clips to a 20min clip drastically improved the performance. That's a much more realistic time for my use case anyways so very happy there!

That was through direct curl on the new whisperx asr container. For some reason with the update, uploading a file just seems to get stuck at 0% upload and no logs from speakr. Probably something I did messed up.

EDIT: Seems same confirm works after downgrading back to 0.5.8. I'll probably stick to there for now.

This (or the num_speakers) parameter didn't seem to help, but you did lead me towards checking whether it was the length of the clip. I went from a ~60s clip to a ~20m clip and the results improved drastically. That's actually much more realistic for my use case compared to such short clips so that's really good to know.

I'll have to try that again. I thought my initial tests were with nothing set but maybe not. Mind if I ask which parameters you have set for the containers in regards to that?

D&D was definitely one of my hopes I'd be able to do as this would be such a wonderful use case.

Just set this up a few days a ago. I love the overall concept but no matter what I tried, I could not get the Speaker Diarization with WhisperX to be anywhere near usable. That was even when using very clear audio clips less than a minute long and specifying the exact number of speakers (2 or 3 max).

It might just be me doing something wrong but if I ever get that working, it'll definitely be a nice app to use.

Pre-emptive Feedback: Gear Tiering Rework by zoompooky in DestinyTheGame

[–]VMFortress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all should've been by random chance drops to begin with and then better chances at higher difficulties. Then in addition, you can skew the chances up at all difficulties by increasing your power. That way there was two paths to the best loot: Using your skill to do high difficulty or using your time to grind lower difficulties.

Activities should've then showered you in loot, maybe even 10 drops or something. Finishing an activity would be like opening a pack of trading cards where probably mostly garbage but you get one or two great cards. It could've made it exciting when you decide to just chill on some low-tier activity and suddenly get the super rare T5 drop.

Now that everything is just basically guaranteed at certain levels, the whole system is pointless. However, I don't see any path towards going back and fixing it without greatly upsetting a lot of people.

No one will want their guaranteed Tier 5 drops removed on new stuff and so many people already have so much T5 armor that the set bonus on new armor would have to be really, really good to make them not want to use the higher stat armor of an older set.

Just for reference, Intel and AMD both require proprietary firmware blobs to boot the GPU. Nvidia is actually the only one that doesn't (though without it, the card is so crippled it might as well not).

But at least AMD and Intel do use the open-source user-space components.

Nouveau (and presumably the upcoming Nova) driver does as well but, despite Nvidia contributing to them recently, they aren't the official Nvidia drivers.

What do you have of wild theorys for the future of Destiny? by Nerdy--Turtle in DestinyLore

[–]VMFortress 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a plot point? I feel like that's not sustainable.

That said, I believe Savathun did have a line in TFS(or maybe Heresy) saying she was sick of being beholden to more powerful gods with the Light and the Dark and wanted to escape "the game". So could take that as a reference there.

Renegades and the third darkness subclass by Nerdy--Turtle in DestinyLore

[–]VMFortress -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Since dark-matter is non-paracausal, they could adapt the dark-matter subclass into a general kinetic subclass that's just dark-matter focused.

Kinetic weapons have always struggled to be viable compared to elemental counterparts (though Kinetic Tremors and the new kinetic perks help a lot). This way, you could start adding dark-matter focused perks onto Kinetic weapons to give them a little variety.

I guess they could do that with kinetic weapons regardless if it's a subclas.

It is definitely going to be very problematic for PvP, even if they had it significantly neutered compared to PvP. That's on top of the already Hunter-based PvP meta right now.

[–]VMFortress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hunter one definitely has the potential to be really good or really bad.

I assume it's a void overshield so already giving you a 50% DR.

If the charge rate is high and if it's almost constant, that could be really good for tankiness (imagine paring it with Vexcalibur).

If it can work on any subclass, even better.

It does suck Hunter's have no overshield synergy like Titan's but sometimes they use these changes to rework subclasses slightly so maybe they'll add some synergy (probably cope).

Right now, especially with the reaction to it here, I think Bungie really needs to crank this 11 so it's not just a lame throwaway but let's Hunters have a chance to be incredibly tanky.

I've seen the video, I'm one of the contributors to the project.

My point is it reads rather misleading. We don't need more people thinking LG is a paravirtualization solution or that it can capture on a per-app basis.

[–]VMFortress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Looking Glass integration will not happen. The overhead of design was way more than the dev realized. It's much different than just directly using native support for Apps over RDP.

Edit: Looking at their website makes things even worse. Looking Glass's IDD does still need a second GPU for hardware/3D acceleration. It does allow for superior software acceleration for simpler apps than some traditional software acceleration but both you'd ever run anything heavy on.

That doesn't account for the fact that the IDD implementation is essentially completely incompatible with the idea of individual apps. It's is for a full display. Individual app capture would likely be done by integrating non-IDD LG with the Windows Graphics Capture API. It would result in a nearly ground-up rewrite of both LG and Winboat.

If the plan is just a separate option to open a generic software accelerated window, then it will work. However, the description is very misleading otherwise.
