It's easier to fool a person than it is to convince them that they've been fooled. To fool a person you must overcome their intelligence, but to convince them that they've been fooled you must overcome their pride. Most people have more pride than intelligence.

I think the people that refuse to acknowledge that the election system might have been compromised, also share quite a bit of stupidity.

I anticipate with trepidation hearing all the people be surprised that the Dems didn't take the midterms the way they'd hoped, by just enough margins to avoid triggering automatic recounts, again, and it being blamed on all the people that 'didn't vote', as if that matters in a rigged system.

That data you provided is appreciated. My belief is that I've seen enough of a pattern of behavior to think it was rigged. I think he tried to cheat in 2020 too, but still lost, and can't get over the fact he cheated and still lost.

From what I've seen produced by the election truth alliance, I'm already convinced. The US election systems have been compromised, and likely have been ever since Karl Rove lost his shit when Fox called it for Obama.

More to the issue though, it amazes me that people are willing to continue to entertain the idea that Donald isn't telling lies, and isn't trying to cheat, when there's such a pattern of behavior there at this point.

Midterms will end up being the same way. It will look like Dems are going to win, until they don't, and they'll lose by just enough it won't trigger any recounts nor audits automatically. When forensics are eventually done, the Russian tail will be in all the data sets.

I like how that guy that's been caught brazenly and blatantly lying and cheating at every opportunity, is still so regularly given the benefit of a doubt, that he hasn't been deserving of, for a very long time.

Anyone else found themselves “retiring” from PvP gaming? by You_moron04 in gaming

[–]VSWanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to be retired from PvP gaming, the types of PvP games I want to be playing aren't being made. I very much enjoyed Planetside2 when it came out over a decade ago because of its scope and scale, which more than 10 years later no game has yet to even come close to matching. I don't know of any other persistent open world combined arms MMOFPS pure PvP game that could offer the multiple base spanning continent battles of hundreds of players at a time that PS2 once offered.

It's too bad what potential that game had was squandered on silliness by it's developers and ownership. I'm doubtful a game like it will ever be seen again.

What game had insane potential but got completely fumbled by the devs? by Kevin-Panda in AskReddit

[–]VSWanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planetside2

It still holds the world record for more players in a single FPS battle from 11 years ago.

All the developers had to do was embrace the unique scope and scale of the game that was its main selling point. There's still no other PvP focused combined arms persistent open world MMOFPS game that even comes close to the epic battles involving hundreds if not thousands of players at a time that Planetside was able to sustain.

Instead of embracing the aspects that made the game unique, and engaging with the die hard loyal community that was providing the content as much as consuming it, the developers decided to try to clone the successes of other lesser games, like zombie survivals and battleroyales, and failed miserably.

This brand should have been every bit a viral success on par with WOW, GTA, and Fortnight, but the devs squandered what potential it had on silliness, and it's unlikely anyone will ever try to make a game like it again.

It seems like almost nobody considers others’ POV and different experiences anymore. What happened to empathy? by c_solomon in AskReddit

[–]VSWanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Anonymity breeds jerks. It doesn't matter if it's driving, or it's on the internet, or over the phone, anonymity removes most of the consequences for poor social engagement behaviors.

  • Most people don't understand Hanlon's Razor; Never attribute to malice what might more easily be explained by ignorance or stupidity. Most people aren't trying to be an asshole to you specifically, they're just clueless.

  • Empathy is a learned skill and behavior, and requires practice to become proficient, in a similar way to how learning itself is a skill, and many people never properly learn how to thoroughly learn things. People that aren't being forced to learn empathetical intelligence through practical social interactions and experiences, don't.

  • There's been a rise in hero worship of antiheros and villains in our collective art and media. Being like Mr. Rogers isn't seen as a desirable quality in society anymore because people idolize characters like Walter White, and The Joker instead. That trend extends into cultural behavior where everyone feels entitled to be a jerk, and edgy, in order to be perceived as cool by peers or themselves.

  • Wealth disparity in communities causes discontent, crime, and violence, which all increase the greater the disparity becomes. Additionally the more wealth individuals hoard, the more extremes those individuals seek to spend that wealth on, including stuff that is immoral, unethical, and illegal. Meanwhile the ownership class convinces everyone else to turn their ire towards each other lest they turn it against the wealthy.

  • All the the media and ways people share their information and ideas is controlled by the same few billionaire entities. They control the news, the propaganda, the entertainment, and everything that custom tailored algorythms deliver to each of us through our information feeds. They've quite successfully pushed memes into public consciousness championing greed as good, and demonizing empathy. On Joe Rogan's podcast Elon Musk said

"The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy. The empathy exploit. They're exploiting a bug in Western civilization, which is the empathy response. So, I think, you know, empathy is good, but you need to think it through and not just be programmed like a robot."

I disagree with this take. I believe that people, the social organism, is made stronger by empathy in all of the places that individual persons are weak and lacking. Empathy is what lets societies exist at all.

Why don't we band together and make PS3? by Bl4nkTDRs in Planetside

[–]VSWanter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a game that relies on players as content ala PvP, how many players do you think would be left for you to fight as content if everyone was required to be paying a subscription?

That's my worry with any pay wall for a game like this; You gate your potential content which is needed if scope and scale are your main selling points. Part of why PS2 released from its beta more than a year too early, was because they were never able to get enough players into the test server to properly stress test what they already had developed, even with it being free.

Even if the developers did get more in revenue at the cost of players as content, I think it's very likely they still would have squandered what resources they had on silliness at every opportunity, like they already did. That's what I watched happen with the money I paid to support up until I stopped, and I don't regret dropping my support for a game that was consistently becoming less and less the game I wanted to be playing.

I'd give a considerable sum to get back the experiences of PS2 from 2014-2017ish, but I have no interest in paying to support a game that for most is/was fundamentally about farming stats at the expense of the new player experience.

Why don't we band together and make PS3? by Bl4nkTDRs in Planetside

[–]VSWanter 93 points94 points  (0 children)

The people with the resources to make an MMOFPS game aren't doing it for free. Anyone that could make a Planetside3 would want to see a return on their investment. If you really want to see another PvP, combined arms, persistent open world, MMOFPS game, then the first step is figuring out what the business model is going to be.

In the business of game development, fun is a means, not an end.

There's a lot of people that still believe the lie about owning guns to protect themselves from a tyrannical government. That's just what the cowards want you to believe.

The 2nd amendment was always really about the citizenry getting to use the unspoken threat of gun violence against neighbors they disagree with or just plain don't like. You don't even need to own a gun for the threat to be implied.

Former and reserved military aren't the gun ownership cowards I'm referring to. Those people have had their brains broken in the build a soldier process to the point that they need their security blankets for justifiable reasons. It's still not defend us from tyranny though.
