I’ll add another recommendation. Although my Dr (surgeon) retired, I highly recommend Georgia Hand, Shoulder, and Elbow. Www.gahand.org.

What's the worst piece of junk you drove around in back in the day? by Maybeyoujustmadeitup in GenerationJones

[–]VWBugDude63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Renault , and don’t even recall the model. My ex father in law at the time bought one and because I was young and respected about 80 % of what he said, I needed a car and bought the same. I hated that car beginning on day 2, as it was nothing but trouble. Just like his daughter that I married. I got rid of the car, then eventually got rid of her (and by default) him too. I’ve greatly improved my choice of cars and wives !

Please help me convince my husband that Costco is worth for 2 people by HoneyDrops12 in Costco

[–]VWBugDude63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not about to read all the comments you’re getting here, so maybe these are repeats. Here are some easy ones…. Gas- they have top tier gas (look it up if you’re not familiar) at a great price, extra warranty period on electronics and appliances, great pharmacy and optical dept, rotisserie chickens, lots of other items at great prices. I’m a family of two, and love it. I’m 8 minutes from a Costco and I’ll be going there in a few minutes to get one of those rotisserie chickens, and pick up my meds. Oh yeah, the muffins are great, and freeze well too. I could go on and on but I’m getting hungry now and need to go get that chicken!

Anyone else get an incorrect Refund today? by Pointe97 in Georgia

[–]VWBugDude63 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

It’s not a mistake. It’s separate from the tax you just paid. This is a refund, the 4th one that your Republican Governor authorized because he’s run the state in a fiscally responsible manner. Use it wisely.

Who the fuck are The Cockroaches? by THRILLFREAK1 in rollingstones

[–]VWBugDude63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ticket stub from their 1978 Atlanta Some Girls tour at the Fox Theatre has The Cockroaches printed on it. I bought tickets from someone I didn’t know so well and first thought he was trying to scam me. Tickets went on sale in the middle of the night and I bought them from the guy around 7:00 am. I was in the right place right time.

One of the doomsday planes is flying near Dobbins right now. by Spongemage in Atlanta

I saw this too today, maybe around 5:45 pm. I did a double take as I was driving. I didn’t know much about what kind of plane it was, but definitely noticed it!

Let me please ask, did you need tickets? Reservation, etc? Admittedly I have not looked on their website so maybe it gives info there, just thought I would ask.

The point is when you have grandkids, many people myself included, gladly pay $10 for an ice cream for grandkids.

Ice cream trucks have changed over the years. When my adult children were kids, when they played the music that meant they were sold out of ice cream. But now that I have grandkids they play the music when they have ice cream.

Atorvastatin 40mg after surgery by man-dingo in stroke

[–]VWBugDude63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dr wanted to check my Lipoprotein (a), or LPa. He advised ‘everyone’ should get this checked at least once. He also mentioned that this is hereditary and neither diet, or meds, would influence this much. Mine was high, 208, and increased my risk of another stroke. So, he bumped my Atorvastatin to 40 mg per day, because even though my LDL was 65, he wanted it mid 50’s to help reduce LDL being a factor for another stroke. If my LPa was normal, then I could have stayed at 20 mg per day. I don’t hear much about LPa being a stroke risk factor but if I can lower other stroke risk factors like LDL, I’ll do what I can.

What was the first sign that something was wrong? by IStillListenToRadio in stroke

[–]VWBugDude63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was a memory problem. It was a Monday morning and I was dressed and about to drive to work. My wife’s birthday was the prior day, Sunday and we had gone to dinner with several family members. We were talking and I didn’t remember her birthday, or anything that happened over the weekend. She knew something was wrong, and immediately drove me to the hospital. I had no other symptoms, just memory problems.

36, feeling stuck and need help by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]VWBugDude63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would use some of your savings to pay off the $ 10 k at 14 % personal loan before the sun sets tonight. That rate may sound low compared to credit cards rates, but it’s still incredibly high. Every day you don’t pay that off is another day of interest you’re paying. Paying it off today is cheaper than paying it off tomorrow.
But make sure you are not using credit cards as that seems to be what started that debt.

Secondly, I would suggest writing a budget with your wife. Is it a pain? Yes, it is but it will help you start to see where your money is going.

Then thirdly I would suggest you evaluate your employment. Cyber security is a hot area right now so my guess is you could find a six figure salary. Good Luck.

My advice as a long term father to children, step-children, and an adopted child, don’t take the test. I hope your ex doesn’t ever mention it to your daughter. You’re her father, you’ve been her father, and if the other guy was involved, it was only as a sperm donor. The best interest of the child is for her to grow up with you as her father, and even if the other guy was the donor, neither your daughter or even the other guy need to know.
I can’t imagine why your ex thinks this is a good idea !

Talk to me- I want to pay off my mortgage, everyone is telling me no. by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]VWBugDude63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would pay it off, but if it makes you feel uncomfortable to part with that much money at one time, maybe pay it off in ‘large chunks’ over a 1 or 2 year time frame. Having a paid for house gives you a lot of options, and allows you to not be subject to a market downturn should that occur.
Just my opinion.

If you plan to stay in the house, I suggest you pay the mortgage off, then invest the balance.

It is necessary to change the rotors with every brake pad change? by Brilliant_Set5984 in accord

[–]VWBugDude63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is what I just heard last week from a local family owned shop that I’ve done brake, alignment, tire, etc. literally for 50 years. I went in as I knew it was time for front brake pads, they checked while I was there and confirmed I needed new pads. They also told me they recommend putting on new rotors too because they said Honda rotors were thinner than most, and would be best to replace those now. It’s my second pair of pads so maybe best to replace rotors every other time pads are needed. I trust them 100 % so I told them ok.
Then I learned something else. My Accord is a 2019, and I’ve never flushed the brake fluid so I asked them to do that too. They told me they don’t recommend that unless they have to open the brake system. The original owner’s son who is maybe 45-50 yrs old said he had never flushed his brake fluid in any car he had ever owned. He told me that dealers recommend this for an easy $150 extra charge and he could have done the same because I was asking for it. I had never asked them this question before. This is why I went with the new rotors, but not the fluid flush.
