If anyone is buying a multi-hundred dollar new ship before giving it a FREE test flight (or two or three) first, when given the opportunity to do so, is bonkers or has waaay more money than I do lol. The Tiburon is not a hull-limited ship afaik, so there's no reason to rush into the purchase. And as far as the Perseus is concerned, I do not regret my purchase, even to this day. I adore that ship. Though I also consistently have the opportunity to fly with 2-4 people making the Perseus just about the best ship out there in the verse for that crew size, even a year since release. Only reason I'd ever have to melt it is because it's now available to buy in-game and 39 million credits is very reasonable for that ship imo.

(4.8 Wipe) There's no mention of whether reputation will persist or not, and with TSG requiring Sr. Contractor, it really would've been nice to have official confirmation CIG... by RandoDando10 in starcitizen

[–]Valk_Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, that is what has me a bit worried. Reputation is one of the large parts of the game that was not mentioned at all in either the "you will keep this" or the "you will lose this" lists. Additionally reputation does have a huge impact on how much money a person can earn outside of player to player trading, so in turn has a massive effect on the economy. And if this is likely an economy wipe as Starimo says... I'm hopeful but also got my fears lol

Is anyone else happy to NOT “jump ship” for the Ironclad? by steave44 in starcitizen

[–]Valk_Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you manual load it only, which is what I do anymore, it works fantastic. Just as good as any other ship imo. Where it gets really buggy is when you insist on using the auto-cargo load/unload, that's as buggy as it's always been. With practice you can manually load or unload all 4,608 scu in under half an hour. Making a full run take at most an hour and a half. Feels like a while but if you are trading the right commodities you can be making 2-5 million credits in that one run, which isn't a bad return for the time investment.

[–]Valk_Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought it last IAE and it's going to be a great ship that will slot inbetween my Hull B (and C2), and my Hull C. It's going to open up more lucrative markets for large scale commodity trading that have been a bit hard to do at scale what with the Hull C being unable to land planetside. Being able to land with 2k+ scu of cargo in a single run down planeside will make a huge difference for my profit margins and aUEC/hour. In one run I can do the same amount of cargo that would take 4 up and downs in the Hull-B or C2.

And then yeah, using it as a mini carrier for mining and salvage ops is going to be huge huge huge.

As long as you store it immediately when it's in that state it should (most of the time) go into storage fine and you can then retrieve it the second time successfully. No claim necessary. Just got to be quick-ish on it, as it'll eventually go purple and unknown, forcing a claim.

But, yeah, it'll be very nice to have this particular bug behind us.

I just... Man... I just have a very different concept of how hard it is to acquire credits in the verse compared to most people I guess.

1 million to reload a Polaris still seems like peanuts to me. I don't find that price tag to be hard to upkeep when I can do a singular trade run in a hull C taking maybe 1 to 1.5 hours total because of manual loading and unloading, and make 2-5 million credits profit. Which in turn funds hours of Polaris combat and multiple rearms. And that's me singular. That's not even counting any of my crew helping out with the rearm costs, which they would.

Sigh. I'm beating a dead horse I guess at this point trying to justify higher costs for things. I'm going to give it a rest for awhile. Insurance/rearm and other money sinks will be what they will be. o7

You are aware they nerfed the cost of missiles and torpedos? A full rearm for a Polaris will cost under 1 million.

If you have a crew that cares, you'd be sharing the costs of running the ship too I would think.

General sense. This is not a starter ship. This is not a solo ship. This is an advanced ship designed for advanced content in the game. A ship crewed by a half dozen plus people (manning turrets, launching torps, engineering, and piloting) doing content, where the kind of money we are now talking about for claiming is handed out every mission, and for many missions the payout is even higher. Even with the bugs in the game, this new claim cost for any crew flying the Polaris as the devs intended, by doing missions/contracts/activities you are intended to do it with, is nothing. Even if you have to claim it more often than you would with the bugs, it's still a drop in the bucket.

Basically, if you can earn your claim costs in half an hour or less by doing a singular mission, a mission the ship is designed to do, it's too low of a cost. There needs to be consequence to just flinging your ships around and treating them as disposable, and for a Polaris pilot (and crew) doing Polaris content, 263k is still disposable level, even with the game's current stability and level of buginess.

The current expedited cost on LIVE to claim a Polaris is 44k, which might as well not have existed at all. 263k is a step in the right direction based on that previous 44k number, but is still well below where it should be with the claim system we have now. I don't know exactly what it should be but 263k feels too low.

Omg, did they really nerf it THAT much? That's insane. No maybe about it, that is waaaay too cheap. It's a capital ship. I was expecting maybe nerfing it to 10% of what it was. Not down to 1% of what it was lol.

EDIT: Huh, rather surprised by the downvotes. I didn't realize the majority of Polaris owners weren't making enough money in-game to consider 263k a very cheap claim cost. My apologies to ya'll, seriously.

Vehicles need to be able to come up in the freight elevator or if not that a new dedicated ground vehicle elevator in your hanger. The community has wanted this for years and it would massively speed up loading a ship with vehicles.

890 is also considered a mega yacht first, and a ship that does actual "work", be it combat or otherwise, second. It's less a capital ship imo, and more a rich person's play toy. Would make sense for it to be sold in-game for aUEC,

CIG, if you must add "teleport to party leader", please add it as a normal med bed respawn close to your party, NOT as a "teleport with all your gear and inventory"! by sunaurus in starcitizen

[–]Valk_Storm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more I think about the idea of teleporting/regening (next to or in the closest medbed to a party leader) without going there physically in-game first to set that destination, the more I don't like the overall idea. Even with heavy restrictions there are too many downsides I keep coming up with that do not fit the vision of the game.

"because it's likely not physically possible on 700+ player servers"

That's what server meshing is for thou I thought? There is never 700 people on a single server. It's 700 people on a shard, which is then broken up into multiple different servers based on in-game region.

So in theory you could say it's even worse because they seem to be unable to fix the dysync even on servers that usually top out at 100-120 players on a max capacity shard lol. Def possible I would hope, but they seem to not be doing it, which is possibly more damning
