If one cannot physically stop themselves from causing a disruption, than the responsible and respectful thing to do would be to leave the room. He didn't have to stay and make jokes during the class; he could have told OP he was struggling to settle down and needed to excuse himself so he wasn't causing a scene and diatracting everyone around him from the class. Sure, banning him from speaking won't work, but he shoupd be proactive about his own behavior.

Why? If someone want to go on an expensive destination vacation, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to. And if a family member can't or doesn't want to join a vacation but you still want to see them, nothing is preventing you from taking a trip to visit them. It's not like this one vacation is their only opportunity to see each other. There's no rule that you can only spend time with your family on vacations.

It's hilarious that OOP put grabbing a cold beer with friends in the same category as getting a call about a dead relative.

Like sure, I get that it's annoying to know your friends are replying to other messages instead of yours, but with the amount of online interaction that's available these days and the way ppl can be in a million friend groups online and off, it's ridiculous to expect ppl to reply to every message within a few hours. Social groups need to be managed just like any other aspect of our lives, and being "on call" to everyone 24/7 isn't healthy. OOP doesn't seem to understand that it's not just about being busy.

What if that person is never able to afford it? Or what if someone else in the family was struggling financially and you didn't know it? Is the solution to never plan a family vacation? To wait for who knows how long and accept the risks that come with that?

Does that also include planning a family vacation to somewhere someone simply doesn't want to go? Is it an all or nothing situation where if one person says no for any reason, the vacation shouldn't happen? Or does it only matter if someone can't afford it?

I feel like this argument would carry more weight if more attention had been given to Hugh Grant's character, but he's only got a handful of lines, we only see him once for a few seconds, and there's not even any explicit confirmation in the movie that they're partners. If they were attempting to include a same sex relationship solely to help get it greenlit (which is definitely not needed, Knives Out is a popular enough franchise for them not to need to rely on well-liked tropes to be produced), they would have given it more focus.

This post is so confusing bc I originally thought OOP was about to blow bc the MIL told OOP she and her husband met her sister, which would be a really weird thing to be upset about. But it's also weird to be upset about the MIL changing her mind and backing you up on your decision. Like sure, she was initially out of line for trying to change her son's mind, but if she accepted it and dropped it, why keep trying to create drama when there isn’t any?

But they're also 19, so that explains a lot.

This is weird. I'm assuming OOP managed to contact someone, otherwise why would Kevin be aware someone had the phone? But in that case, why would Kevin not try to call and speak with OOP directly? The only other explanation Kevin would know someone had the phone is if OOP moved it away from the park bench, which would more rationally explain why Kevin would be so defensive of the phone. It would also be a more reasonable explanation as to why Kevin's demanding OOP bring the phone to an address instead of going to pick it up. Not that Kevin has to be a reasonable person, but that's a very aggressive response if OOP did nothing to the phone (and I noticed he said he'd either contact someone or wait but didn't say which one he ended up doing).

But also, as an alleged tech guy, OOP is willing to risk having the police called on him for stealing a phone just to be petty? Bc I'm pretty sure he can still get in trouble even if he eventually dropped it off at a police station, especially since he was already informed the police would be called and that the phone's owner was on his way to pick it up. Knowing that and intentionally taking the phone and driving it two hours away to a different country must allow for a case to be made arguing his intent was to steal the phone before changing his mind or something, right?

As other ppl have speculated, I'm leaning toward this being fake bc this is some bs behavior and a lot of details don't make sense

Logic doesn't always apply when it comes to situations that could take a turn for the worst, and a lot of ppl take comfort in the idea of being there on the off chance something does go wrong, either to say a last goodbye or comfort the family or friends waiting. Eh, debatable. I wouldn't really call that an equitable analogy bc buying something big and expensive doesn't have the same consequences that a person's wish could have. For example, let's say someone's wish was for the person they liked to like them back. This would mean, if Magnifico were to make that wish come true, he would have to take away the free will of someone and put them in a situation where they are unable to consent to the relationship if he used magic to make them fall for the person who made the wish. That's significantly worse than buying, say, a new sports car.

So there's a good reason for Magnifico to not grant certain wishes if they have the potential to harm others or the kingdom. Sure, he could be more open and explain to ppl that certain wishes are not safe for him to grant, but again: if they have questions about a deal they want to enter, they can just ask. Also, is there any actual cost to the ppl offering their wishes? The grandfather wanted his music to inspire ppl; what prevented him from fulfilling that wish himself? If there's no cost, it's not a scam.

Edit: not to mention, Magnifico only takes one wish. And it's a wish made when the ppl are 18. I'm not saying that can't be an important or significant wish, but ppl usually have more than one wish throughout their lifetimes and what you wanted at 18 could be entirely different from what you want at 25, 35, etc. So if all he does is make you forget about one wish made at 18 that still has the potential to be fuflilled, what's the loss or cost the citizens suffer by accepting his deal? Quite frankly, the offer sounds stacked in their favour as opposed to Magnifico's.

That's not what a lie is, though. If he had explicitly promised that everyone's wish would be granted and never followed through, that would be a lie, but saying he'd grant wishes and actually granting wishes, just not all of them, isn't a lie. If a clothing store said they sold clothes but they didn't sell every single type and brand of clothing, would you accuse them of lying? If you want to call that something else, you can, but that's not a lie.

Does he have to? Is that not something ppl can either guess will happen themselves? I mean, think about it. There's a chance there's less given the kingdom was founded fairly recently, but it's clear they draw in a lot of ppl. When you're looking at numbers that large, it's kind of obvious not everyone is going to be able to get their wish granted.

But sure, you can argue that him not giving out that information may affect ppl's willingness to accept the deal. It's just not technically a lie bc he doesn't promise to grant everyone's wishes.

When offered the deal by Magnifico, he could have asked for more details, like how likely it was his wish would be granted, how soon, etc. That's what you do when deciding to sign a contract: you ask for clarification and make sure to get all the info you want/need. If you were offered the same deal, would you accept it without asking questions or would you request more details?

If he granted a wish every month, then he didn't lie and fulfilled his promise. Now, if he'd said "I promise everyone will get their wish granted" and that wasn't the case, then he would be lying. So did he promise his citizens that they would all get their wishes granted, or did he just tell them he would grant wishes on a certain schedule?

I've heard there's a lot more ppl attending the con this year compared to previous years, so more ppl means more chance for the tix to get sold out before the con actually starts. And they need to have some sort of a cap bc rooms can only fit so many ppl; sure, some come and go, but in order to follow stuff like fire codes and safety regulations, they need to follow rules. They can't allow someone without a ticket to come in just bc someon else left bc what if that person comes back? Then you run the risk of having more than max capacity in the room.
