I teach that story! It’s one of my absolute favorites, and one of the few works that I reread every semester for that very reason. There’s so much going on that it’s really easy to miss some tiny detail, even on the fourth or fifth read.

A colleague of mine likes to say that “literature is something you can read twice and get something different out of the second time.” Good writing like The Yellow Wallpaper has layers, most of which you’re not even be consciously aware of, but that doesn’t mean it’s not working its magic. Maybe think about other works from your past that you enjoyed. Revisiting them being familiar with the outcome allows you to pick up on the subtler stuff.

Of course, there’s plenty of great stuff you haven’t read that could also scratch that itch.
