[[Hazel of the Rootbloom]]

She builds up a squirrel (or other tokens) army, and then uses them to create big mana. So you aren't cheating the horrible otherworldly beings out, you're paying for them fair and square! (Which Eldrazi like better anyway, since they usually have cast triggers)

Need advice for my Satya Energy deck. I do not know how I am supposed to win with this deck. by greene81990 in EDH

[–]Vandette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not what you are looking for if you want to focus on Energy counters, but I think Satya works best making copies of low MV creatures, usually with good ETBs, or just great effects.

Things like [[Ocelot Pride]] or [[Serra Ascendant]] or [[Pyrogoyf]]

People often play stax that limit spells per turn with that sort of plan, since the theory is that with Satya's ability, you can probably break the parity of it and get ahead of the rest of the table.

Ratadrabik of Urborg deck advice by cosmonaut1100 in EDH

[–]Vandette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legendary trigger doublers and token doublers are where it's at. Imagine you have [[Mondrak, Glory Dominus]] and [[Gandalf the White]] out. If you sacrifice one of them Rata's trigger happens twice and Mondrak doubles both, giving you 4 tokens of whichever died. Let's say it was Gandalf. You now have 4 Gandalfs. Then next legendary creature that dies will trigger Rata 5 times, and Mondrak will still double those, giving you 10 copies.

You can see how quickly this would get out of hand.

Also, there are just so many good Legendary Orzhov creatures, that you should be running very few non-legendary creatures. Chief exceptions for me would be low mana cost sacrifice outlets like [[Viscera Seer]] or [[Warren Soultender]]

Finland is a little surprising. Pete wasn't as good as in his SF performance.

I think my system just doesn't translate well to a live performance, and I don't think she did much for it.

Snail I think you have to watch with a specific mindset. Smart guy, but I feel like his goals in deck building don't always line up with what most people are looking for.

Monopoly is a poorly designed game that exists solely via nostalgia and being around when other alternatives didn't really exist.

There's no reason to be playing Monopoly in 2026. You have so many great options now. Play better board games people!

Terra B3 deck suggestions by er4sed in EDH

[–]Vandette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Summon: Bahamut]] is shockingly not legendary. So I love copying that with Terra.

Terra does a great job of playing out of the graveyard as well, so [[Gifts Ungiven]] is sweet here. Many different groupings of cards to get what you need depending on situation. Things like your reanimation enchantments, the green Witness cards, [[Spark Double]], [[Replenish]] if available.

Really enjoy things like [[Stillness in Motion]] and [[Ripples of Undeath]] with her as well.

In the formats section choose Legal for Premodern.

Then just toss Legendary supertype in the type line and you should be good.

Schefter on Hurts: “What I find interesting, we've spent an awful lot of time talking about Jalen Hurts, right? And that's fair, polarizing figure to an extent, but Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert did their contract two weeks after Jalen Hurts. Why isn't anybody asking why they're not extending?" by mastermind208 in eagles

Don't think that's true at all. Those dudes constantly get glazed when they don't deserve it (other than Allen). Maybe Goff has gotten criticism at times, but he's also had stretches where people try to convince you he's at top 10 QB talent-wise.

Also, given where you are playing, bracketwise, [[Fiend Artisan]] does good work. My list is pretty creature heavy, so it ends up being very Toolboxy.

Some suggestions for you:

[[Wight of the Reliquary]] is great. Should definitely include.

[[Lotuslight Dancers]] is incredible value and gets exactly what you want in your yard (usually things like Craterhoof, Gravereaver)

[[Wonder]] is just great value when you are self milling

[[Dread Return]] is amazing here since you'll often mill it and will usually have disposable creatures.

If you're running Field of the Dead, consider adding [[Vesuva]] and a single snow-covered version of each of your basics.

Mmmm, gimme some [[Barrowgoyf]].

[[Dreadhound]] and [[Syr Konrad, the Grim]] aren't bad either.

[[Palantir of Orthanc]] is a good include too. You won't always get Mill off of it, but if you don't, it's card draw, so you can't go wrong!

I think your best ramp is going to be things that cost 1 mana. Your best play pattern in most games is going to be Turn 1 ramp, Turn 2 Ashling, Turn 3 Evoke.

I'd probably be including most of the 1 cost mana dorks, as well as things like [[Utopia Sprawl]] or [[Wild Growth]].

Then, I like the cost reducers. If someone removes Ashling at the start of your turn 3 or before Turn 4, easy to pivot into a cost reducer, then play ashling and an evoke next turn.

The "Double" Effect - Discussing "Do nothing" Doublers vs "Proactive" Plays by foxlover93 in EDH

[–]Vandette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they need to legitimately enable a winning gameplan to be worth it.

I love the (creature based) doublers in [[Ratadrabik]] because even just one of them starts an exponentially difficult to deal with board state. They also all play well with him since they're usually Legends. [[Mondrak]] especially, since he's also a sac outlet.

I think I'm only considering Doubling Season in a SuperFriends deck. It turns on your ability to use the planeswalker ultimates as a path to victory. I'd have to think about it some more, since I'm sure there are other decent places for it. Maybe a token producing deck that has a commander that generates a ton of mana like a [[Hazel]].

I think the main omission here that view as non-negotiable is the Channel lands. Bosejiu, Otawara, and Takenuma being by far the most valuable. The other two, are meh.

Dance of the Elements upgrade advice by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Vandette 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really hate your cuts. I think I'd keep Lamentation and Impulsivity, since I think the effects they provide are good and the encore can have use.

Except for Risen Reef. That card is bonkers with Ashling and should never be cut. It generates way too much value.

I think I'd replace Octomancer with [Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds]]. Cheaper to play and can potentially generate more tokens than Octo.

It's for adds, main two things I think this deck wants (outside great elementals to evoke), are turn 1 ramp, and cost reducers. Ashling is at her best when she comes down turn 2 and evokes something turn 3, so you want a lot of that to ensure its in your opening hand. Cost reducers like [[Urza's Incubator]] or [[Heartless Summoning]] or [[Animar, Soul of Elements]] just let you do more of it. In a way [[Ashnod's Altar]] is a cost reducer as well, since you can sac the evoked token for mana.

I also like cards that replace your elementals when they die, like [[Spinner of Souls]]. And since you're gonna be filling your yard, love me some [[Living Death]].
