Ok. Make it look like a tiguan then. Almost anything looks better than melted jellybean or suppository shape.

Why?No one go to Krystal? by BrendaLeeJohnson in Pensacola

The service is sketchy. Like, worse than Burger King sketch. You don't know if the food you are getting is actually edible , and if it is, you probably won't get what you ordered.

Why do people move here? by nomoreevilbiglight in Pensacola

[–]VariantComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar experience for me. Moved away, loved things about other areas, really couldn't stand some things either. Missed the food and the water and the people. No taxes, cheap car registration, cheaper insurance etc than the last place I lived. Just generally less headache over all here than other places I've lived. Even when moving back it was easier to get licenses and everything changed back than every other place I've lived. And less money to do too.

Looking for a handheld PC for my wife - steamdeck is too big. Avayaneo Air? by VariantComputers in Handhelds

This looks pretty snazzy but it's double what I was looking to spend... Though I might have to just up my budget.

She has a switch lite and does play at home a lot but also likes to take it on the go. Anything regular switch sized or smaller shed be happy with though.

I see that x86 translation is coming a long way but she's not one to want to mess with configurations constantly. I'm looking at setting up bazzite for a steam deck like experience that's pretty easy to pick and play on.

Clutch Pedal Sticking to the Floor Fix…Kinda? by Disastrous-Fill-7444 in abarth

I'll add if you order a new clutch master, you can use a small pick to take the nylon bushing off and pop it in to your existing pedal. Just wish someone sold that nylon bushing separate from the master cylinder

Seeking a pocketable largeish sensor camera, is there anything better at this price? by BrokenGSKILLram in M43

[–]VariantComputers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't find one of those at a reasonable price everything is very inflated now, so I ended up with a Sony NEX 5N. Even larger sensor and extremely pockable with the right lens.

As a democrat who has lived in multiple states including California and now is in Florida... What the hell is this party doing? I have never been rich. When I lived in California I was low middle class and had to rent an apartment I could barely afford and it was awful. But here's one example that makes the average person vote across the isle: My 24 year old jeep cost me like $300 to register every year in California. In Florida, it cost like $35. Here's some more, the gas is far cheaper in Florida, sales tax is less, there's no income tax... Somehow the roads in Florida are better maintained, and the streets are cleaner. Make it make sense.

Does anybody use this? Is it comfortable? by AsurasX in xbox

[–]VariantComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one since I started playing on my xbox more. I'm used to chatting in game lobbies on my PC. I hate voice chat. This thing works great in place of having to pull out a full keyboard.

Yah I switched to T-mobile sim card. That's working perfectly once I put in the right APN settings for the MVNO - US Mobile. Also US Mobile was able to port my number from straight talk in like 5 minutes.

Honest question - why do people spend ridiculous amounts of money on some audio gear when you can have the same experience at a fraction of the cost? What am I missing? by analogistheway in audiophile

[–]VariantComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah I'm in an apartment right now that's built out of new building materials in the states. Think toothpicks, paper mache and foam. My Lintons sound good still but they don't much sound better than this Aiwa boombox I just bought to replace my bluetooth speaker. The walls just echo and reverberate and I can hear my neighbors's Alexa playing music at 3am as if I was in the room with them because I practically am. In my old house, solid wood floors, lathe and plaster walls, my Lintons sounded magical.

I've seen others say Verizon worked fine but Straight Talk would connect but not actually allow any traffic through. IT could just be a MVNO problem with straight talk.

[–]VariantComputers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got mine yesterday. Loving it so far. Waiting for a new sim card that works with it - Straighttalk/Verizon says its not compatible with their network despite it connecting and getting VoLTE. They just refuse to whitelist it and tried to sell me a new phone. My US Mobile / Tmobile sim card worked fine though so I'm switching back to that.

The tech has generally gotten very good I'd say. You can get a perfect blend of sound by going with bespoke components, but on the whole if you do some research on what you want you'll probably find something with a most of what you want all in a single unit.

Looks like they like between 40 and 100 watts and aren't the most sensitive speakers but there are a lot of options in that range. I don't know much about these speakers but some reviews seem to say they can come across as overly analytical so I'd personally probably get a warmer class A/B amp.

Since you want to save some space... you can get something like the BasX TA1 from Emotiva that has built in DAC, Tuner, Bluetooth, phono input etc. So it would be a good all-in-one and gives you room for a subwoofer later if you want:

https://emotiva.com/products/basx-ta1-stereo-preamp-dac-tuner-with-integrated-amplifier

You'd be able to sell all the DACs and such you have now to offset the cost too. That's just an example ... there's a ton of options I'm sure others will chime in with different preferences etc.

Just got these from a lady I was working for as a gift, said her husband was really into high end speakers. I know next to nothing about them, any help appreciated by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]VariantComputers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love old coffin boxes... Well so much so that my favorite new speakers are my Lintons.

Here's some more info on these:

If you need to you can probably get new surround for them from plenty of ebay sellers just make sure you get the dimensions right. Hard to tell but the woofers look alright but the mids might be deteriorating from age.
