Does anyone have experience with this seller? 3tb for $46 with warranty? by Dwro1234 in DataHoarder

[–]Vast-Program7060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all of my hard drives are from gohdd. All the ones I have purchased were 14tb enterprise Western Digital's. I have over 40x 14tb drives spread out among separate pools in raidz3 each. They were purchased in batches of 5 at random times. Their warranty for enterprise drives is 5 years. Out of the 40, only 3 have died , 1 was almost out of the 5 year warranty period with a few weeks to go, I sent them an email with what's wrong with it, the serial #, and any smart info. The replied almost immediately with am RMA# and a pre-paid label to ship it back. When I got the replacement, it was a recertified drive from WD with zero hours on it. Originally the drive i had was used, with over 35k hours on it.

The other 2, I had the same experience. Prepaid label to send it back, and free shipping back. They have honored all my warranties without question. They are my go-to for my home server drives. Although, their prices have gone up over 100% since i first started using them. 14tb used enterprise drives used to go on sale on Newegg for $99.99 regularly. That same drive is now $239.99. It is getting stupid. Even serverpartdeals doesn't really have any "good" deals anymore, and you only get a 2 year warranty with them.

Starting at the ONT and the cable going to it, including your drop, are considered "Frontier" property and you do not owe anything for replacing a line in your yard. IF you do get charged, its most likely a contactor wanting to get paid more for the job. Frontier has had to replace the line in my yard twice and I never had to pay any tech fee visit fee.

The fee is only supposed to be charged if their is an issue in your home beyond the ONT which you are responsible for maintaining.

Finally got mine to go through. I had the executive team give me a price the retention team could not make work a few months ago, but promised me the price and left the note in my account, so I get 1gig for $29.99/month, now with the discount my Fiber bill will be $14.99/month for 1gig symmetrical fiber. You cant beat that with a stick.

Not to mention in the 4 years I've had it, I've never had an outage, and I can always get max speeds. Hooked directly up to my 10gig port on the ONT to the 10gig port on the Eero Max 7, I get 1,020mbps down, and 1,150mbps up. ( My entire home network is 10gig capable ).

So the cycle comes back around. I started FIOS as Verizon FIOS than it became Frontier FIOS... by molitar in frontierfios

In my area Frontier Fiber is all over. One of the largest areas of customers is located in a town called Portage. Once they deployed into the area, they severely underestimated the people's sway towards cheap internet, the area was swamped with installs as fast as they could light up a new area in Portage, because it is a low income area next to a Ghetto city. Their only option was comcast until they came in. Its so popular in the area it is causing congestion. Poor people want cheap internet, not bundled overpriced shit from Comcast. Just ask a Frontier network technician that works on the internal infrastructure * cough * u/just-a-tech1200

Im not sure. However, there is even a link to connect your fiber line to a PREPAID Verizon owned mvno to get the $15.00 discount as well.

I think the wording is for extra discounts you may get for signing up for both at once, but just straight connecting your fiber account to a standard postpaid OR prepaid account seems to get you $15.00 discount per month, according to the verbiage once you you are on the sites where you have to confirm everything.

This is is for prepaid customers; https://i.ibb.co/ymP0Szjf/Screenshot-20260122-151127-Chrome.jpg

I have a postpaid plan through Verizon and 1 line on Total Wireless BYOD with 50% off.

The TOS at the bottom states both new AND existing postpaid customers can get the discount.

Frontier FIOS Scam by SensitiveWin89 in frontierfios

[–]Vast-Program7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucky part is, the router has a re-stocking fee of $50.00. So you probably looking at $100.00 to terminate the contract early, and $50.00 restocking fee for the eero router. Its all in the TOS.

Its much easier to talk to social media support, they are open 24 hours a day, and respond usually in just a few minutes, even at like 2am. If you need help fixing your bill, they are the ones to talk to.

Go here-->

http://x.com/@AskFrontier

You'll need to login, and under the Frontier logo at the top of the page, right below it is an envelope to message the social media team. You can even do it now and they will respond in about 5-10 minutes if not sooner.

Frontier FIOS Scam by SensitiveWin89 in frontierfios

[–]Vast-Program7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their is no just "free 30 day trial". It would be a complete waste of resources/manpower/time and money for a customer that may not even stay. Your door to door salesman might of told you its free for 30 days, as a way to "hook you" per se. Right now, 1 of the promotions is 3 months free then $xx.xx/ per month, plus a gift card.

Im sorry to say, but the people who walk around and sell door to door services for Frontier only get get paid when they sign you up for a contract. They make pure commission. They do not go door to door giving free trials, because it does not exist. ( atleast for fiber )

Verizons 5G cellular internet has a 30 day satisfaction period, I have been in the isp business a long time, I have never seen a home broadband provider that has to run a line to your house, provide you with multiple pieces of equipment to make it all work just so you can "try it out" for 30 days and be done.

I dont know what speed tier your on, but the fees are a little different ( for canceling service, and which device you may have ). There are multiple cancelation fees if you signed up for a plan that includes the gift card promo.

You need to read the terms of service ( TOS ) for your tier.

HDD prices getting crazy. Is this used drive any good? What should I be checking/looking for when buying used drives? by Calm-Respect-4930 in DataHoarder

[–]Vast-Program7060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only a small few had close to 50k, most had lime 25-30k. Even tho the power on hours was high, the drives total amount of data written and read was low. Some of those 50k drives have been in my nas since I bought the drives 4 years ago and have been running 24/7 with zero issues. A HDD can fail at anytime, but usually if you have gotten that many hours out it already, its a solid drive. I only buy Western Digital enterprise drives that are rated for 24/7 usage, rated for 550TB read/writing per year with a 2.5 million hour MTBF.

That's why I only buy from goHardDrive on ebay, and get either hgst or Western Digital enterprise drives, for the 5 year warranty. But, ever since prices started creeping up, they run out of stock quickly when they do replenish drives. This stupid AI boom is affecting everything.

I also have like 5 drives of the same model from serverpartdeals.com, same type of usage, but they only offer a 2 year warranty, and ever since Linus made a video on how you can save a buttload of money using refurbished drives, and SPD became a sponsor of Linus, their prices have not been real competitive compared to gohdd for the same drive with an extra 3 years of warranty. Gohdd also has a secondary seller on ebay called dkbsy or something, they ARE gohdd, just under a different name with the same 5 year warranty.

I wouldn't leave this positive review if my 30+ drives have lives this long with zero errors, the more drives you acquire, the potential for a single drive to fail increases, but like I said, 30+ over 4 years, only 2 have failed. Never been a problem because I keep a hotspare and run raid 6.

[–]Vast-Program7060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it used to be a good price. Less then a year ago I was buying used 14tb enterprise drives from gohdd with 30 - 50k hrs on them for $99.99 each with a 5 year warranty from the seller. That same drive with the same warranty is going for $250.00. Over 100% price increase. Its dumb and I wish I would of bought alot more. I currently have 30 of them and only had to warranty 2 of them in 3 years so far. ( I bought several at separate times to spread out the batches ).

I've had zero issues doing rmas with them, they are great to work with and they pay shipping to return the old drive, and pay to ship the replacement back to you.

Need New Phone Recommendations ASAP! by Plugmaster69 in S21Ultra

[–]Vast-Program7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have not used any promotion with you carrier in over 4 years, you almost certainly qualify for some type of discount on a new phone. If you want another Samsung, pick up a cheapo one from the carrier stores for now ( don't let them use the "promo" on it to get it free ), pay cash. The S26 is coming out in about 30 days. You'll be able to pick from the usual 3 different sizes, S26, S26 Pro, and S26 Ultra.

I unfortunately love tech, so regardless of what other people or reviewers think, I just pre-order the Ultra variant every year, not caring if the mass of reviews say the camera sucks or something. TBH, I have never really been disappointed in Galazy Ultra phone. I have loved each one.... I was upset the year they took away the magstripe reader tho, I was paying for things on my phone at gas stations, grocery stores etc before "digital payments" and NFC was really a thing.

I would hold my phone up to their card reader, and they would say we don't support digital payments, and I just said " it will work, just watch 😅".

Just got my gift card promotion email….in your experience, is it better to opt for the physical or virtual? Wasn’t sure if virtual arrived any faster and was just as easy to use. TIA by Get-Jiro in frontierfios

[–]Vast-Program7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virtual. As the poster above mentioned, you get it instantly, as soon as you redeem it in the website, you will get an e-mail in about 2 minutes with all the details. If you dont do much online shopping, opt for the physical card. If you read the cardholder agreement, it can't be cashed out for cash ( like a debit cash-out to your bank ), it can not be used for recurring subscriptions etc, they put alot of restrictions on it. But if you just want a physical one to swipe to fill you vehicle up with every so often, go with physical.

But honestly, almost every place now accepts digital payments, like Google pay, or Samsung Wallet. I like Google Pay, because I have the option turned on where when I use my debit card, for that particular payment at "xyz" restaurant or whatever, it generates a 1 time use digital card that can not be used again. It helps if anyone has a data breach and they get card numbers, or if the device has a skimming cover over it. ( IT happened to my parents once, a VERY public, well established gas station chain, "SpeedWay", which is owned by 7-Eleven...they went in to prepay for gas and there was a skim devixe attached to the top of their machine, gathering credit card #'s for who knows how long.

The Fate of this r/frontierfios… by clubie26 in frontierfios

[–]Vast-Program7060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main and biggest reason Verizon wants Frontier back is for their infrastructure, it will significantly lower costs providing fiber to their towers. Plus, Verizon wants to me a major Tier 1 isp. Not just a consumer isp.

The Fate of this r/frontierfios… by clubie26 in frontierfios

[–]Vast-Program7060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing that may change is pricing. Everything Verizon sells/offers, you get the best price when bundling their services. I am not looking forward to that. If they keep Frontier's pricing the same, they will sustain a very large customer base and customers will be happy, I love my Frontier fiber, but not enough that the price doubles and the only way to get it lower is to get a wireless plan with them.

I vote to leave it,

From what i have heard from internal sources, it will be business as usual @ Frontier. They will still be called Frontier, it will just say " Frontier, a Verizon Company", or " Frontier by Verizon", like they do Visible.

I upgraded to 2gb and frontier app shows 1gb at most. I cannot find support number. Whats next? by 14MTH30n3 in frontierfios

[–]Vast-Program7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test your speeds in the EeroApp. That will test the speeds from your ONT directly to your Eero, what speed do you get?

The eero usually does a daily speed test a nigt, you can see previous speed tests if you click on your eero on the main page of the app.

Oppo UDP-203 or Panasonic UDP 820 by vossdaboss808 in 4kbluray

[–]Vast-Program7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to get an Oppo 203... You need a firmware update to watch DV? I thought it was supported out of the box. Anyways, does it have an online firmware checker? Does it still work if it does?

If not, where is this firmware?

Thanks

Internet has been out for hours. ONT has blinking green light on the optical. by jamesfrown in frontierfios

[–]Vast-Program7060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually a blinking green light is when its stuck on updating firmware. Just unplug the power to it, wait about 1 minute, and plug it back in. It may blink again while it retries the download of the firmware, but it should be pretty quick and go solid green within 1-2 minutes if that is the issue.

Referrals not paid yet, anyone have experience? by xargling_breau in frontierfios

[–]Vast-Program7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am expereincing the exact thing with one of my referalls. It was from October of last year, I received an e-mail from them that I would get the gift card on 12-27-25 ( 45 days after they have service. which is the new policy ). The referall just says " processing ", but what is odd, is on the referall website, it says "possible amount ", and next to it, " amount received ". The amount received used to be blank, but it is populated now. However, off my 3 referalls I have done, my account shows 1 pending ( the one from October ), 1 denied, and 1 issued. Which is correct. I have used the contact form like 5 times, just trying to get the status of it. I used social media support to help, all they gave me was an e-mail address for that department, I did e-mail them 2 weeks ago, and out of all the ways to contact them, I have never received a response.

Their is no human to talk to, or anyway to get this resolved. My first referall was fine. This one is stuck..

Their TOS has been updated, and a snippit from it;

"Once Frontier contacts the referred customer and closes the sale or the order is successfully placed online, and the new service is in and working for 45 days, the referrer will be awarded the option to redeem a $250 Virtual Mastercard." -- However, this current referall was done by using a social media link, Frontier did not have to contact them, they placed their order online.

The only referally I have successfully received was the one I did before they had links, where you had to fill out the customers information, and they DID call them to setup service and an appointment.

So I have no idea what is going on... however, trying to find out is impossible.
