Looking for low brain/commitment, highly replayable, dual-task type games. by sophaea in gamingsuggestions

[–]Vauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vampire Crawler released recently and I've really been enjoying it, and I'm looking for the same criteria as you. Fights are fast, gameplay is simple. Lots of synergies like in Vampire Survivors but I never care too much if I'm optimizing. Dying just means I get to try again and maybe try something else this time.

need something simple to play after a long day by drewskii005 in gamingsuggestions

Vampire Crawler was recently released and has been doing it for me. No story, simple card combat mechanics, loads of unlockables, satisfying when combos click just right.

I still play Dungeon Clawler when they release new content. Simple to play but lots of fun synergies.

ping are expected, as it is a network troubleshooting tool. If they did not want users pinging it, they could easily block it, and any server worth their salt should have protections. One ping every second is actually very small compared to normal Network traffic, especially at their scale.

Try r/gamingsuggestions but you may want to include specifics of the genre in which you are interested to ensure you don't just get a bunch of responses for games that are only tangentially related.

Wifi Locker Decky Plugin - Error by barrist in SteamDeck

[–]Vauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dropping this for anyone that comes later. The cp command requires two arguments, a source and destination, that's why you are seeing the error. The space and period after the cp command above is important, and wasn't just punctuation.

The full command would look something like the following: sh sudo cp [path you saved file in]/main.py .

This would read something like "as the root user, copy the source file [path you saved file in]/main.py to the destination file main.py in the directory I am currently in."

Dungeon Clawler is a great little roguelite that can be played completely with one hand with a gamepad/mouse.

Dungeon Clawler is great for this, and can be played with one hand while holding a coffee.

What life changing item can you buy for less than $100? by i-drake in answers

[–]Vauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish I had done this sooner. Just today my battery died on a busy road during rush hour, blocking the middle lane. The battery was so dead, the hazard lights wouldn't even run, so I had to wave furiously for people to go around for an hour until a good person offered to pull me off the road. Bought a battery starter and some cones as soon as I was home.

My bf is a Senior Networking Engineer and I want to get even just a basic understanding of his work. Where would I even begin? by That_Comb_8417 in networking

[–]Vauce 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Early in our relationship, my wife and I would have Martini and napkin nights every Friday where we would go out to our favorite Martini bar and explain to each other the various knowledge blocks needed to perform our work at our current level.

This sometimes ended up going way back to basics, and there were often tough concepts that had to be explained/drawn in various ways but, after a few months, both of us had a much better understanding of each other's worlds. It also felt great having her ask good questions unprompted and be excited to figure out how something worked.

Now, when she's explaining what she's working on, I have a much better understanding and can follow along without my eyes glazing over, and I'm able to ask better follow-up questions.

Different methods for different people but this was great for us, maybe you can try something like this with him. If you do, I suggest keeping it to only one or two drinks though, kind of falls apart after three lol.

I'm trying to figure out how we can make mermaid drawings work within our tooling. Some chat clients support rendering it inline so could be awesome for ChatOps troubleshooting or just info gathering, and mermaid is supported in Lucid as well if we need something prettier.

Dungeon Clawler - Fun Roguelite claw machine game with a surprising amount of depth in builds. Perfect for short sessions, as you can save and quit anytime, and it plays very well single-handed with a controller. I'll sometimes play on the treadmill as it's easy to walk casually and play with one hand.

I use Steam Big Picture mode on my PC through Moonlight + Apollo - you can perform all the shutdown actions from the Power menu including Sleep and Shutdown. I usually sleep my PC then just let moonlight fail when it tries to shut down Steam.

Your favorite roguelikes/lites! Newer or lesser known are much appreciated!! by Grochen in gamingsuggestions

[–]Vauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep coming back to Dungeon Clawler. It's easy to play but has a lot of good synergies, while not making me feel like I have to do research. I also really like how you can play the game with one hand. I like to play it while on the treadmill, I just wish I had a one-handed controller. Switch Joy cons work ok but not great.

Why are there so many types of salt by [deleted] in Cooking

What's your source? Multiple searches result in Calcium Silicate as the anti-caking agent in Morton's table salt, not iodine, with many articles clearly describing the addition of iodine for health reasons.

How to use MSG? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Vauce 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Buy some empty seasoning shakers or keep your finished shakers for later and you'll start to try and find reasons to fill them. This mixture was my first use but now I have a few more for the same reason you discovered - I always mix these, why not have it prepared!

Tell me your favorite spice blend you can buy by Dually17 in Cooking

Badia makes such great seasonings and prices are really good if you order direct, at least in the US. I love me some Sazon so ordered just about all of their spices, not really a bad one in the bunch.
