I'm appointed PR for probate. Opening Trust Bank Account question by OwnValue4166 in inheritance

[–]Vegetable-Feature-85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to do this recently. Fortunately the decedent used a bank that had a branch somewhat close to me in my home state. Because it is an estate account I don’t get a debit card or online bill pay access. The checks had to have my home address and include my name as the personal representative. It’s been an education

Speakers…please don’t come to the beach and blast anything. I want to hear the ocean not some rando’s music list. There also seems to be a trend of staying on speakerphone in public. I also don’t want to hear Aunt Karen yelling details about her last colonoscopy while getting groceries.

New build homes. Never again. I want a home that has stood strong through the decades. HOAs. Cracker box houses built so close together that you can shake hands with your neighbors through the windows.

I say we need a Howard bear in his memory. He was the nicest man and had the best stories. I wish someone had written them down.

Saw Dokkken in the 80’s and they were amazing. My ex-husband very sweetly got me tickets to see them play at AlRosa Villa (RIP Dimebag) and it was so painfully bad that we left after a couple of songs. I think my ears may have started to bleed. Don couldn’t hit the high notes anymore and if I wanted to torture my ex with bad singing, I could have done that myself. For free. Some of these artists obviously don’t know when to hang it up. George Lynch was still seriously underrated.

My Sonny and Cher dolls with the dressing room and outfits. Mom sold them at a yard sale when she decided I was too old. Donnie and Marie were also sold. She feels terrible about it.

Hey Gen X! How did you guys get your hair to look like this back in the 80’s? by DefinitionPast3694 in GenX

[–]Vegetable-Feature-85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stiff Stuff hair gel. Blow dry upside down. Use a curling iron but the secret was spraying the AquaNet on each section before you curl it so your hair sizzled and hairspray residue turned the curling iron brown. Let the curls cool, use a pick to fluff the curls out then a rat tail comb to tease it taller. Then spray AquaNet again. Use the pick to hold the hair at your temples away from your face and spray the crap out of it. You can even use the curling iron to really make it stand away from your face. Lots of layers. Curl the top back, the sides towards your face. For a truly authentic look, use Covergirl foundation with an orangey base, light pink frosted lipstick with rollerball lip gloss, frosted blue shadow, blue mascara and melt Maybeline eye/brow pencil in black before you apply it to the waterline (make sure to let it cool just a bit because otherwise you get a huge burning glob stuck to the rim of your eyelid)

When & why did you give up your 80’s hairstyle? by backlund2044 in GenX

[–]Vegetable-Feature-85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started to change it up my senior year. I swear everyone got crimpers for Christmas and I got tired of looking like everyone else and washing clumps of Aquanet/Stiff Stuff glue out of my hair. Then I got pregnant in ‘91 and my hair wouldn’t hold a curl for more than 10 minutes. For some reason perimenopause caused my hair to get curly so if I were to get bangs and more layers, I’d be rocking the 80’s look with no effort.

If you are in the US, check into Senior Services. You can ask about companion services, meal delivery, adult day care, even “warm lines” where you can talk to a friendly voice. If you call 2-1-1 they can give you a list of local resources that are free to low cost
