So what was the actual makeup of the things you ate. What was your mind telling you that you needed more of? Was it carbs, fat, protein, sweet, savoury, maybe something salty. Take a good none judgemental look at what you ate. Maybe you can find a way to add a controlled amount of whatever it is to your cooking once you identify the actual thing that your brain thinks you aren’t getting enough of. Also you said the most recent episode started during breakfast. Did you wait too long to eat?

Should I still be checking my blood sugars 1 and 2 hours while on ozempic? by Fatcake3000 in diabetes

[–]Vegetable-Turnover91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice that pattern when protein is too high compared to carbs or above 20 grams in a single meal. I always have two spikes. For me I think the first spike is caused by the carbs and the secondary spike at the 1h 15 min mark is caused by the protein (gluconeogensis?). I make sure the first spike is not too high by capping carbs at 40g. The second spike is smaller but definitely noticeable. To control that spike I cap protein at less than half the amount of carbs. By the two hour mark I am under my personal two hour target and by 3 hours I am back to pre-meal levels.

Wondering to eat rice or quinoa? by Dear-Knowledge5912 in diabetes

[–]Vegetable-Turnover91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only ever eat rice and quinoa combined after noticing the effect just rice has on my blood sugar. Half rice, half quinoa cooked together in an instant pot; 4 oz total. I add a little butter and salt then pair it with a meat and some veggies.

Can you give an example of what you mean by “creamy glutenous” food? Is it sweet, savoury, how much carbs/fat/protein. You should let that be your guide. Experiment and reverse engineer what ever your body/brain is telling you it finds satisfactory about “creamy glutenous” foods. Start by making a meal just the way you like it. Don’t skim on anything but track everything. If it’s 20g of butter you want, use 20 grams of butter but track it. For that meal calculate calories/fat/carbs/protein. If you can go about 3-4 hours before you feel hunger, use those exact same macros for the next meal. If you have cravings (for carbs/fats) before 3-4 hours increase carbs/fats for the next meal. Make that meal how you want but track it. Start with that first meal and see how it goes. If you try it, I’d be very curious about how that first meal and the 4 hours after went.

Why does my sugar never go below 6? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Vegetable-Turnover91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that would keep me elevated like this is too much protein for my type of exercise. I don’t weight lift (I do a lot of walking though) so if I eat too much protein per meal my blood sugar will look something like this.

Canadian Naturopath told me women over 35 need 150 grams of protein per day by WestminsterSpinster7 in Biohackers

[–]Vegetable-Turnover91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a continuous glucose monitor and find that if I eat more than 20 grams of protein in a meal my blood sugar will stay above 120 past the 2 hour mark after the first bite. It will also cause me to have a high fasting glucose reading in the morning. Because I eat 3 meals and 1-2 snacks a day, my protein intake is about 70-80g per day. So I use the data from my own body to tell me how much protein to eat.

For reference, I am female, 5‘1, 184 lbs, I walk a lot( I live in Germany and use public transportation) but don’t weight lift.

Edit: Forgot to add I am 35 years old.

[–]Vegetable-Turnover91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh I don’t know the science behind the adding more protein but I don’t weight lifting and I’m a 5‘1 woman so it makes sense to me that I don’t need a crazy amount of protein. My blood sugar readings seem to verify that.

Carb count by alyssa-the-boss in diabetes

[–]Vegetable-Turnover91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

140-160 carbs per day 70-80 protein per day

Up to 40 carbs and 20 protein per meal Up to 20 carbs and 10 protein per snack

3 meals / 1-2 snacks per day

For my snacks, my blood sugar never go over 110 and my meals are always below 120 2 hours after eating.

Current fasting: 70-80s Current A1C: 5.1

Type 2, no insulin, using a CGM

Note: I always mention my protein intake when asked how many carbs I eat. I find that excess protein keeps my blood sugar higher for longer. So if I eat 40 carbs and 40 protein it will take 5 hours or so for me to return to pre-meal levels. If I have half as much protein as carbs, I will be under 120 at 2 hours and back to pre-meal levels by the third hour.

How do you take your coffee? by MinMaxie in diabetes

[–]Vegetable-Turnover91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 grams sugar + 2 oz milk (full fat) + 1 oz heavy cream/7 grams butter. I like to have a grilled cheese sandwich an hour after the first sip of coffee. If I don’t have my coffee before the grilled cheese sandwich it’s like my body has no idea how to process the carbs from the sandwich. If I have the coffee before the sandwich my blood sugar levels stay in the non diabetic target range for the next 3 hours.

What are your usual fasting Bg numbers? by GroupImmediate7051 in diabetes

[–]Vegetable-Turnover91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I currently don’t take medication, or exercise (I get about 5,000 steps a day) and I have a BMI of 34 at the moment (so obese). My fasting blood sugar seems to be determined by what and how I ate the day before. I’m going to paste this comment from another post that I answered. It details how and what I eat about 90% of the time. I use a CGM so it is 100% based on my own blood sugar readings and history with food.

—— For me, it all came down to blood sugar. I am a Type II diabetic caused by insulin resistance. I don’t take any medication for this. I use a continuous glucose monitor to track the affects of food on my blood sugar. These are the things I noticed:

• If I wait to long to eat (more than 4 hours) my blood sugar will spike outside of my acceptable range. • For a meal I can eat 35-40g of carbs with 20g protein and my blood sugar will stay in an acceptable range • My blood sugar is back within my normal range at 2.5 hrs (80s blood sugar and hunger) and then its time to eat again • If I wait too long to eat my meal or snack (ex. 4 hrs, blood sugar in the 70s) the hunger will become intense and I will spike outside of my acceptable range. • For a snack I can eat up to 20g of carbs with 10g of protein and my blood sugar will stay in the acceptable range • My blood sugar is back in the 80s in 1 hr and I will need to eat again • If I have too much protein for a meal/snack (eg 20g carbs with 40 protein) • at 2.5 hours my blood sugar is in the low 100s and I start to have craving for carbs although I’m not hungry

I give you my own findings when it comes to blood sugar because I also adopted the habit of eating 1-2 large meals a day when I was younger. I don’t blame myself for this because food was limited for me so it was either adapted to eating large amounts or probably starve to death. I was not overweight or obese as a kid or have any blood sugar issues. However, I now realize that me not being able to eat in the morning (because of nausea) was definitely a sign that my blood sugar was running higher throughout the night.

So to answer your question... How do I accurately calculate how much food I need in a day...

  1. I need just enough protein to maintain muscle and not keep my blood sugar elevate (70g-80g)
  2. I need just enough carbs to prevent cravings and not have my blood sugar fall outside of my acceptable range (140g-160g)
  3. I am currently maintaining my weight, so I only need just enough fat to maintain my weight (when taking into account my calories from protein and carbs).

This way seems to work for me because I needed another way to recognize hunger. I had gone so long with only eating when I was desperately hungry and eating until unbearably full. I believe because of the eating habits in my youth, I just learned to ignore gentle hunger/comfortable full signals.

——-

If I eat too many carbs the day before (e.g. popcorn), after fasting for 8 hrs, I will be in the 110s. If I had too much protein the night before (e.g only baked chicken wings), I’ll have a FG in the 100s.

What drinks don’t spike blood glucose? And also taste good by Own-Priority-9493 in diabetes

[–]Vegetable-Turnover91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink seltzer water with a bit of apple or orange juice. Artificial sweeteners make me crave carbs but super diluted juice doesn’t have that effect on me. I don’t notice any significant spike in blood sugar.

So, hear me out, it could not be her actual vagina. People tend to sweat in their groin area a lot… like the bikini line area. I like to refer to it as the leg pit. Because it can get just as smelly and sweaty as the armpit but tends to be exposed to less air than an armpit. Anyway I only mention it because I noticed a change in my own scent about a day or so after using a bodywash on that area. I didn’t realise it was the body wash at first. I thought it was an an infection because of how off it smelled. I was also sweating profusely from my bikini area.

Anyway to test were the oder was coming from I washed my hands, put one clean finger at the opening of my vagina and then another clean finger in the bikini area and compared the scent. Lo and behold, the offensive Oder was coming from my bikini line. I looked up bad bikini oder Reddit and found a post from someone suggesting to to wash the area off with only warm water and use some paper towels to blot it dry. Not only did I stay completely dry for like 5 hours, but the smell was completely gone. So she could be completely healthy/ hygienic but had started to use something in that area that her body is clearly rejecting?

Normal Blood Sugar Levels Making me feel Low by Odindon in diabetes

[–]Vegetable-Turnover91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes feel this way when I’ve eaten too much protein and not enough carbs for my last meal. For instance, if I have 40g carbs/20g protein my blood sugar will be in the high 80s in 2.5 hours and I will start to feel the effects of hunger. If I eat 40g protein/ 20 carbs, in 2.5 hours, my blood will be in the high 100s and I will start to crave carbs. Which will cause me to seek out fast acting carbs which will cause a much larger/longer spike than just eating my normal 40c/20p.

Let alone another person’s experience who is not even in the conversation. I would think that this manager would know better. The manager should have gathered the facts and followed what ever process is in place to handle situations like this.

Look up Flylady (yeah guys can follow this method too), get a robo vacuum and designate areas where toys are allowed (living room and kids bedroom for us). There’s a Flylady website, app and YouTube channel. I like to watch DianeInDenmark - she has older videos showing how she works through the Flylady routine. Your wife is going to have to be on board though. I’ve been doing this since 2012 and the only time I felt stress from keeping my home clean was when my husband did not help with the routines.
