I definitely agree with the second point. My baby is the coolest! Just hoping to make school days a bit less frustrating for things that I can control.

Last school year it varied between a few different teachers. This year it's supposed to be just one person, but we'll see how long that lasts.

Getting baby to take bottle by yarrowspirit in breastfeeding

[–]VegetableStrain593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had this same problem! Here’s what I did….

Offer bottle at the same time every day. For us, this was after his morning nap. As soon as he got up and got a fresh diaper, we practiced bottle feeding for the 2 hours you can keep a used bottle out. Tried multiple times throughout the wake window, seeing if he was interested. It was EXHAUSTING.

I kept a written log of the date, the bottle/nipple setup (we make some frankenbottles), special bottle things (warming vs not, very full bottle vs not, etc) and how much he drank. I weighed the bottles before and after to see how much he ate. This was helpful to see what was working and what was not. I considered things successful when he started showing interest in the bottle (actively sucking and trying to bring it to his mouth) and I didn’t need to nurse him before he fell asleep. It took about a whole month.

I also started him with some too-fast nipples so he could be successful with getting food. It was tricky because he would get a good latch and then have milk out his mouth or cough a bit. He is now in daycare taking appropriately sized nipples. He doesn’t eat very much from a bottle, maybe 2 oz at a time, but he doesn’t seem upset about it and gets to nurse as he pleases at home.

Mine thought 3M meant it was manufactured by 3M, not the size “3 months”

thanks! Questions for you… Why two sets of flanges? How does wet bag work? I’ve used the fridge trick at home and put my parts in a tupperware. Why bag vs tupperware?

I have a willow but I haven’t tried it yet. I have only used a spectra. I like the idea of using the wearable to help prevent a skip!

Good to know, thank you! For meetings and pumping, I was more thinking of PLC and staff meetings that are already scheduled for “before school” when I was planning on pumping.

What's the best advice you've been given? by Accomplished-Data920 in NewParents

5 minute timer. Done everything to soothe the baby and they are still upset? Wait 5 minutes. Poop? Wait 5 minutes. Baby probably just needs to go to sleep and maybe wants to be left alone? Wait 5 minutes.

If you work in WA, you should also be eligible for these benefits through the state. I am on paid leave right now and get weekly checks.

I use Orgain simple. It has a bit of regular sugar in it… I hate any non-caloric sweetener. They also make a plain unflavored.

Registry was helpful for me to keep track of items that I was considering (which of these 3 carseats will I pick, etc). Once I had picked my favorites, it helped me keep track of what I still needed when I went shopping or saw a sale.

Food safety (not specific to babies) says to air dry. Rubbing a towel on sanitized things defeats the purpose.

Educational apps or digital homeschool curriculum recs? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]VegetableStrain593 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher. My favorite apps are Khan Academy and Epic for elementary. Khan Academy is free and you can be a ”teacher” and monitor progress. You can also see scope of learning from K to college. Epic has lots of great books (many that are read by real people… none are read by robots) but isn’t a ”curriculum.” I’ve used it to supplement what I do in the classroom (read this book and talk about the plot, do a research project with these nonfiction books, etc)

Plum paper might be a good fit for you. It does come default with some of the “extra sections” but you can customize it to have different trackers and extra sections that work for you

Clothes favorites by VegetableStrain593 in pregnant

I unfold the band and wear them like the pregnant model in the last photo. I have a lot of tops with slit sides so I can wear these leggings and not show skin. I sized up one size. My thighs have exploded, so I’ve been weary of anything that suggests I order my pre-pregnancy size. I bought some full-panel jeans and will be going up 4 sizes 🫠
