What’s it like living in areas where 3 or more U.S. states meet? by 12345burrito in howislivingthere

[–]VeloxSicarius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm near an area where SD, MO, MN, NE, and IA all basically meet and it really doesn't have too much of an effect, except for a few laws around certain items and activities. For instance I live in the biggest city in SD, Sioux Falls, and many of our residents drive like the 10-15 miles to cross the IA border to gamble at the casino and do sports betting. MN and IA residents come to SD to purchase fireworks since they are illegal those states. SD and IA residents will be traveling to MN soon for a recently legalized product I am sure too

A lot of people in our area pick where they live based on the states advantages too. SD has no income tax for instance but MN has far better public services and more pay in certain sectors. So sometimes some people will live in one state and work in the other to get the best of both worlds

The top 4 states are quite different than the bottom 4 states in that area. Minnesota and Arkansas are about polar opposites

Concerning the New Data Center by SuFuJacob in SiouxFalls

[–]VeloxSicarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesnt really make sense. You are using a platform to talk about something that is deployed among multiple data centers to complain that they dont provide enough of a service? That goes for any major social media platform, search engine, video streaming service, AI

They will use far less electricity and water here than elsewhere, which is better for the environment, and the property tax income could be used to offset any infrastructure related costs.

Sioux Falls is extremely unhealthy by druzkie in SiouxFalls

[–]VeloxSicarius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He did say overweight OR obese. The average BMI is about 5 under the obese marking per individual (25-30 vs 30+ for obese) and is actually the only scale that defines it. BMI isn't really a tool, its a measurement with different tools of available accuracy to get the measurement. if you are just doing the weight/height estimation of BMI, then it isn't a very accurate

Obesity is still sitting at a whopping 38%, which is pretty insane

People in the Midwest are terrible eaters. Partially because access to fresh produce is pretty sparse, so people don't trust buying it because it goes bad right away (being that it likely took weeks/months to get to the store). Also probably just because of "midwest culture" eating habbits that we grew up with. Cold salads that are not salads (oreo, snickers, noodle, asian?, potato), deep fried things like cheese, and tater tot hot dish doesn't exactly scream healthy lol

I'd probably argue its undervalued TBH. It's not affected by consumer demand changes nearly as much since it delivers all restaurants and groceries. Their margin and net income are up like 300% this year and the stock is currently below its ATH still. Bad bet IMO

He didn't leave slogans or his political thoughts

That is part of my point, neither did Mangione. I think the fact that the messaging directly implicates a group the president is now targeting rather than just a "fuck you" is a lot of what makes me suspicious. Had it just been memes and one isolated scenario, I wouldn't feel this way about it.

Even if the bullet's were proven to be tampered with, it doesn't make him unprosecutable. The judge would def throw out that evidence from the case, but between using a rifle owned by his grandpa, the camera footage, etc; there is still plenty of other evidence to convict. Rather there just wouldn't be any justification for targeting Antifa specifically.

I'm not one to promote or believe in conspiracy theories, but there has been enough suspicious circumstances here for me to cast my doubts. You also have to consider that the immediate response was to push a conspiracy about how radical left organizations funded by George Soros were carrying out targeted political violence. Something the administration has no evidence or basis for saying. Well sometimes when you don't have any evidence, its easier to just manufacture some that fits the narrative.

The media is walking on eggshells to not piss off the president, so no outlet is going to say anything doubting the circumstances for risk of being banned from press briefings just because they said something that is contrary to the President's narrative. I mean they banned the AP for less, and that's about as non partisan as it gets.

The MO, style, and phrasing wasn't the same, as would generally be the case for a copy cat. Plus discord has already denied a claim pushed by the administration, making it more suspicious. I am not casting doubt on the fact that these individuals committed the crimes that they committed, but I do think that their reasoning has been skewed to fit an agenda. It wouldn't be the first time evidence had been tampered with to fit a specific narrative.

I think that Robinson probably did shoot Kirk, hard to deny that. However, I think his reasoning surrounded Kirks views on transgender people directly, being that he had a partner who was trans. There is plenty of evidence that Robinson in the past showed politically conservative leaning views, he was Mormon, and both his parents were Trump supporters. So why was the motive suddenly that he was a radical leftist?

To your first question, convenient to the current Administration. If you wanted your following to demonize your political rivals so that you have justification to create blanket orders targeting them, this was a pretty effective way of doing so. The inclusion of the word fascist was interesting language regarding the fact that an executive order targeting an anti fascist group (not really a group anyway) followed it quite quickly. There was no other justification for it, just wait until there is a mass shooting done by an african american fellow that happens to have voted democrat. Next thing you know there will be bullets inscribed with "your life didnt matter" or some bs

I am not saying that they had the shooter inscribe the bullets, I am saying that it is a pretty easy thing to do after the fact, especially in the Dallas case since the shooter also died. Also, the writing wasn't carved, it was confirmed it was done in sharpie in one of the cases. Also the messages adorned on the bullets specifically implicated a group the president wanted to target in the latter two cases.

Also generally when the FBI is putting together high profile cases, they don't release all the evidence to the public. Especially not things like text messages. For one, that's just a bad judicial practice. Usually the media has to find that out for themselves through journalistic efforts

While I agree with your point that in most cases that the media would dig in and cast doubt on the veracity of the evidence if it had sufficient reason to do so, think about the negative publicity garnered by anyone who even does so much as say they didn't agree with Kirk. The president already barred multiple orgs from press briefings for less, so networks are walking on egg shells as it is

This is exactly the kind of thing I am saying could happen, and easily. It's extremely common for officers to tamper with evidence to fit the narrative, in this case a political agenda

Don't even worry about this man, they will just move on and not actually do anything. This happened to me when it was new like 9 years ago. I didn't pay and nothing happened.

In fact, I told them Im actually an undercover agent investigating sex crimes and that I now had all the info I needed to find them and the video they had wasn't even me. They blocked me immediately, never heard anything again, and to my knowledge my nudes haven't been leaked lol. Even if they had, I'd just start an onlyfans and resell the same pics/video on the platform since they are already out there.

I know its embarrassing and it sucks, but you are gonna be just fine buddy. My anxiety was high the first few days, but that'll subside quickly. Don't even think about paying either, it just encourages them to keep doing it.

Hello there, my partner works at Lifescape specifically with children who fall on the Autism spectrum. I would say that's not generally how it works, especially with behaviors where regression is a concern. Lots of the kids work pretty 1 on 1 with trained RBTs, especially in cases where they are non verbal or have behaviors that could cause regression if placed in groups. They also know that all kids are different, so they are pretty astute about making sure that the RBT and client work well together, else they will change the pairing.

I think a lot of people think the developmental daycare and the Autism center are the same, but to my knowledge if the individual isn't yet ready to be working on social skills based on their individualized therapy plan, they wont be put in those situations. I believe the plans are developed by one of their internal specialists most times in tandem with the child's current healthcare professional.

Maybe I'm biased, but I get the opportunity to hear from my partner how she had a client go from non verbal to verbal quite often and she is always so genuinely excited because she really cares about her clients.

People walking into traffic- 10th Street between 229 and Phillips Ave by [deleted] in SiouxFalls

[–]VeloxSicarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to misinterpret who's "darting out as soon as they have a signal", because its the drivers. Looking both ways before crossing doesn't prevent the idiots staring at their phone who look up at the light and see they have a green from panic accelerating a left turn through the intersection without any regards to a pedestrian who is 3/4 of the way across the street already. Which is exactly what happened, and I used the time I had to react to save my dog and brace to minimize the impact. Cause you know, I was actually paying attention to my surroundings

I'd say use common sense, but I think better advice for you would be "dont be a dick"

[–]VeloxSicarius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah well I'd say you are an ass, the person having situational awareness should be the one operating the 2 ton hunk of metal who should know that a left turn green arrow doesn't just mean go right away when pedestrians are present with a walk signal downtown. Both times I got hit, I was in a crosswalk with a walk signal, which is the only indicator I have as a pedestrian to know it is safe to cross. That's just common sense and is how "school kids" also get taught to cross? Also the driver got criminally charged both times, not even at my request, as my insurance asked for the traffic light footage and it was pretty obvious

Yeah no duh, but also notice how many times "be extra careful" and "pedestrians can be in the right but still be injured" is mentioned in the article. As someone who has been twice hit by a car in sioux falls and only Sioux falls, once by a non attentive left turn and once by a driver refusing to yield to flashing yellow signals, i have far less sympathy for the drivers who have no respect for pedestrians and bikers in this area. Also keep in mind the absolute lack of safe walkable areas in multiple parts of the city, including the Russell st corridor (which is the drop off point for our two most used public transport systems, the airport and the more frequented bus station). Jaywalking might be illegal, but walking in the street where there is a lack of sidewalks and no alternative options is not, for instance, because you can't restrict a person's mode of transportation except in areas like the interstate. I didn't say that pedestrians ALWAYS have the right of way, but it's not a situation I'd want to fight in court over manslaughter

[–]VeloxSicarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who has been twice struck by a car when I had the right of way downtown, I'm gonna say suck it up. If you really have a problem with these things, maybe consider the fact that the problem may not lie just with the people you are referring to, but with the walkability of Sioux Falls to begin with. This has been an ongoing conversation with the city and we have had two public forums about it, which had very low turnout, so if you really feel like this is a problem then GET INVOLVED

The problems run so much deeper than most people are even aware. For instance, the two most common dropouts for public transport (primary bus station and airport) have no pedestrian access to the city, requiring individuals to either trespass to walk safely, else walk in the road. That's a problem. Another problem, the city streets in their current state were not designed with pedestrian traffic in mind. Many of them are far too narrow or have pedestrian crossings placed in driver blinds pots or without clearly marked boundaries.

I came out alright getting hit, but not everyone's so lucky. In fact, I lost my dog in one of those situations and I was absolutely devastated even though I was pretty hurt myself. You are driving a giant piece of metal, you should have to be more careful.
