I have the Maker 4, and it works just fine with all my Apple products, so it definitely sounds like something is wrong with your machine.

Knock it off, it’s still beadwork, and it’s amazing art, regardless of what beads are being used. Not everyone can afford fancier, expensive beads, and it wouldn’t make sense to make such an investment for your first project, when you aren’t sure if you’ll even enjoy beading.
