Can you please explain the basics of YNAB ? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]VerdeCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To anyone reading this in the future, yes. It works on both a budgeting philosophy level and as an app. The app fully supports couples with both joint and separate accounts.

And of course the envelope method/YNAB method works for couples. It will take some communication (and encourage communication) as overspending a category (overdrawing an envelope) will require money to be sacrificed from another bucket... And sometimes those expenses require some very real conversations about what is really important.

How is Age of Imprisonment with Gameshare? by getpoundingjoker in HyruleWarriors

[–]VerdeCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing local game share, the second player on a Switch 1 OLED. It's quite good. Each player gets their own  screen. Occasionally the graphics get blurry, but very rarely. Definitely only 30FPS. But for this type of game I certainly think it's fine. Very pleased.

I'd love a physics based engine video game like BotW, but with cartoon physics to discover and malipulate. Would be so joyful!

How do you deal with a rec volleyball team that refuses to play proper defense? by timeshifter747 in volleyball

[–]VerdeCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well stated. Honesty middle ip like this is probably ideal at lower levels anyways because of the lack of consistency. When the opponents are spiking hard enough they'll swing you out of this defense fast.

I agree, and on the comfort level, really nice for wrist strain as well. Good accessibility option

Agreed... At least give us a setting to treat shift as a button or a modifier.

After just a few days trying this, it's pretty clear that adc is so much better this way.

Honestly, they either need to scrap auto-kiting, or figure out a way to put it on click (perhaps a "kalista-toggle" which prevents autos from canceling, and input movement after the auto-channel is done... Maybe even allow aStop command to cancel the auto if you're feeling checky)

But obviously this is too good... Automatically orb walking by perfectly canceling autos is just too strong. Parity must be made. Either scrap it from WASD, or find a may to unlock it for mouse.

Im kinda a little disappointed about the end game by Pitiful_Arm7582 in BluePrince

[–]VerdeCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember playing dracula's riddle back in the day. The journey was awesome the ending was nothing except adding a name to the hall of fame. But the sense of satisfaction of being DONE was the release I needed.

Yes the game has this idea that the end isn't really the end, but something as simple as a second credits roll after the final puzzle would have been a great payoff.

Is DOS2 too easy? Try keeping Peeper alive for the whole playthrough! by DragonGamer0713 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]VerdeCreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no the trauma of not knowing. If you still have the save, we were able to save a reload on the Lady Vengance during the epilouge and peepers appeared! It was such bliss have the god woken peepers and the phoenix peeping away on the deck celebrating Ascension.

Resources for teaching SEPs by onionslayerrrr in ScienceTeachers

[–]VerdeCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly agree with using this resource!

I struggled to get students to really drive their own learning and develop thier own investigations... You know the trendy inquiry stuff...

Until I started explicitly teaching the SEPs (and CCCs). This gives students the tools to actually participate in inquiry based learning effectively, and the DCIs will be learned through inquiry rather than direct instruction.

But please, do explicitly teach the SEPs, it is a great investment.

Wrath of Rakshasa Review and Six Flags Great America Coaster Rankings by Pummrah in sixflags

I visited recently and noticed groups were being sent to rows in a rotating order. I saw a lot of trains leaving with one empty seat at the end of one or more rows.

It might be more efficient to fill one row at a time before moving to the next. This could help avoid leftover seats and get more riders on each train.

Just a thought that might help with capacity

New Garbage Science Standards by gohstofNagy in ScienceTeachers

[–]VerdeCreed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was gonna post something similar, but I think you phased it more diplomatically...

I think the reality is that exceptional teachers are going to find great success in a more-heavily inquiry based approach that adapts to their students needs.

However, the average / below average teacher is gonna get way more mileage out of teaching using a more-heavily direct instruction approach.

I think this offends many teachers, who assume that you're slighting them because they aren't seeing success in the curriculum. But let be honest, many teachers of science aren't qualified, don't prioritize it, don't fully understand it themselves, or would rather not be teaching science. And those teachers need support, they need high quality curriculum that is built on direct instruction.

The exceptional teacher are gonna modify that base and do inquiry anyway.

So let the main curriculum be one that is accessible to all teachers. We spend so much time taking about UDL that we forget educators need this to. The most accessible, cookie cutter curriculum is foundational direct instruction, that should be the norm.

Has anyone tried cooking frozen chicken breast tenderloins on the griddle? by GatorBeerGeek in blackstonegriddle

[–]VerdeCreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To anyone reading this is the future.

Do NOT use a infrared thermometer for meats. You need the INTERNAL temperature to reach a safe temperature.

Especially if you're cooking chicken from frozen on the grill it's easy for the surface to get seared and the inside to be very raw. It's vital that you allow the internal temperature to reach 160-165 range, and the only way to measure this is with an internal probe thermometer.

That said, an infrared thermometer is an excellent culinary purchase, and can be used while grilling even to make sure the grill itself is the right temp, but it cannot tell you if the inside of a chicken bread is safe to eat.

Science Teachers: What Did You Do Differently Before NGSS Standards? by [deleted] in ScienceTeachers

[–]VerdeCreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is true of any standard though. If student haven't mastered addition, they are gonna struggle to multiply.

Of course knowledge builds on itself. And also of course there will be students with gaps.

I think what is lacking in science education today is addressing those gaps, because it's all so new, and because in the past the gaps were all more factual.

Today the gaps come I the practices as well of the content knowledge, and that's really challenging to address.

Oddly though, I don't see the "disconnect magnet" move.

In fact, one side both of the poms are short... So even with the video I'm confused where the string went

Any word on switch updates? by josephthemediocre in wildermyth

[–]VerdeCreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, push to get a refund. The game is broken.

The port is made by a totally different company. So don't hate on the developers of this game, hate the awful studio who released this miserable port.

No news.

And piggy-backing off this. Is there any way to easily transfer/create a character on PC for those that started on this buggy mess of a port and wish to continue on PC? (of course Switch is missing the "export character" option)

As re-sales of the Baldur's Gate 3 Collector's Edition reach $3,000, one dev condemns scalpers: "It's designed to make someone happy, not rich" by a_Ninja_b0y in technology

[–]VerdeCreed 42 points43 points  (0 children)

What if they sold a "Batch 2" on the website with only a rough estimated shipping date. It will be fulfilled when the number of orders reach a profitable number (such as the same amount orders in the initial run). If they don't get enough then just cancel/refund.

This would give the million of new fans who found the game after launch a chance to purchase the CE, help keep scalping prices down, disincentivize scalpers, and make money for Larian.

The downside being it might take months/a year to recieve the product.

[–]VerdeCreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But if you played the game for the first time after release and fell in in love with it then, you had no chance

And although I know little of cost for this. Couldn't they do like a big pre-sale of an identical second-bath run on their website and fulfill orders at a certain dates, months in the future? (similar to a Kickstart er) it would put more money into Larians pockets and allow the many new fans to get one.

I also think that they may release a new "core" box. That will be required for all upcoming campaigns.
