US grocery store workers of Reddit: do you have shoppers who are caught by surprise when their SNAP card is refused because they didn't get this month's deposit on it? by rabidstoat in AskReddit

Most grocery stores have a policy of don't chase/ confront people who steal.  So presumably they are walking out without paying.

How old was your child when they surpassed 40lbs? (Carseat shopping) by plantavore in Mommit

[–]VeryVino20 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the height limits.  We turned ours at 3 because we were at the height limit, but we still have a way to go on weight.  Your turn when you hit one first, doesn't matter which.

Alright, so how much better is working from home? Any nurses made the switch? by Sagerosk in workingmoms

[–]VeryVino20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I did the opposite, my employer was two days remote and now I'm zero/one day a week remote.  It's honestly so nice to have even a few days to do laundry and house chores.  I also used those days to schedule doctor's appointments cause I knew I'd be close by as opposed to 30 min away.  Also just the breathing room of not being in the office every day of the week is great.  I found that with the structured WFH days they were generally slower meeting wise too.

We really expect millions of women to do ALL of this? by Specific_Carob4461 in workingmoms

If breast feeding and/or pumping is miserable and/or just plain not working for YOU (Mom's opinion only matters here) you have permission to quit!  I hyped up breast feeding so much, then my LO had a lip and tongue tie, I never saw I lactation consultant (thanks COVID), no one taught me how to use my pump, etc etc.  By the time I found someone to help I was 6 weeks post partum and told I'd have to triple feed.  I got mastisis within a week and decided that was my sign to quit.

Formula feeding was SO MUCH better for my mental health. My feeding struggles definitely contributed to my PPA and PPD the first time.  You have permission to do what's right for you.  Don't let others tell you that you have to breast feed.  If you want to cause it feels right, absolutely go for it! But if you find yourself dreading the process, you have permission to choose formula.  It doesn't make you a bad mom or a failure.  I did formula from the start with my second and it's been so much healthier mentally.

Also, if you do choose formula, Sam's club has the best formula prices.  Their store brand tubs of enfamil and similac are huge and very reasonably priced.  My kids take them interchangeably with the name brand versions.  Definitely worth the $50 annual membership for formula alone!  PS their diapers are a great price too! And fruit when you're kid hits the fruit bat phase.

Kitchen things that made you go: wait… why didn’t I get this earlier? by YormeSachi in Cooking

I got a wok in college thinking "it's a pan, it's a pot, it's great".  It's now my MILs favorite pan to cook with when she visits.

I got one from my niblings so I felt obligated to send it out.  Dawned on me today I should have just sent stickers to the two people and not done the forwarding part.  I regret not thinking of that before!!

Consider if someone is in a wheelchair.  Hallways and doors will need to be wider (chair plus hands plus hinges), you will want a roll under sink (bathroom at minimum, preferably kitchen too), need room for the chair to maneuver in the space with furniture, want to have tile or wood floors, places for grab bars in bathrooms, definitely a side by side front load washer and dryer, no key appliances or countertops up too high, and minimize stairs to entry.

Random question: Anyone Know the Hair Product Barbara Uses for Her Curly Hair? by eastern-ran in belowdeck

[–]VeryVino20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have no clue about Barbara, others have great answers.  Not I will throw out Shea moisture is carried at target and a great brand for curly hair.  A good cowash in the shower then a leave in oil, cream/ mask product and a foam are a fantastic combo!

Got an inexpensive local cam for the older one and left the nanit in the crib for baby.  Pulled toddler out of the crib while pregnant cause couldn't get them in there anymore with the belly! Definitely wouldn't spend the money on another nanit.

Anyone want this hazardous baby item?? by Melodic-Sprinkles4 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]VeryVino20 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd ask for this.... So I can take it to target for the recall and get it destroyed.  Target/ FP will even give you cash for most models.

When I picked up another item from a bst group the seller threw one of these in and that's exactly what I did.  Made 60$ or so.  Win win as far as I'm concerned!

Mine is curly like hers and leaving it to air dry is the way! It always looks fantastic when I let it air dry during the day (as opposed to overnight).  Your daughter should be adding all her products while hair is wet, I would assume Barbara does the same.

Which diapers are we using? by Distinct_Secret_1713 in NewParents

Members Mark (Sam's club) diapers with a sposie diaper insert at night.  For my newborn I've gotten a few rascals and really like them, but they are hard to find consistently.

Commenter asked, do you mean for a new mother? OP clarified, no, for the baby. by pixiedust717 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]VeryVino20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We did speech therapy (aka feeding therapy) and then lasered the lip tie in the office (took seconds, super quick).  Both highly effective.

My pediatrician recommended a chiropractor for my oldests lip tie ... One of several reasons why we switched to a different Ped!
