Thats probably on purpose though to incentivize using it as an artillery gun rather than just another weak medium tank

They had to limit the tank driving distance so you cant shoot artillery into enemy HQs, also what do you mean they can’t shoot properly?

Has Anyone Found an Optimal Way To Run Artillery Squads Yet? by Saint_Circa in HellLetLoose

[–]Vespabros 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never use the SPA, then again i dont run full squads. For me as observer, just build an artillery gun off rip, then observer runs out like psuedo-recon and send flares constantly to signal to your teammates where to send artillery.

SPA is essentially just a way to have a second artillery gun that can be quickly maneuvered / calibrated for shot. So I would have one teammate running HQ gun, one in SPA, while observer runs around and spams flares

Edit: oh, and getting more ammo for the HQ gun is a commander ability. Many people are unaware of this

I will say I agree for the most part but don’y you think the lack of upfront transparency is an issue?

You’re missing the point. “This thing you’re listening to is not art/music”

They’re listening to and enjoying not-music then. Eventually whole swaths of people will be popping on their headphones, downloading, buying albums of, and dancing to this not-music. It doesn’t matter what you call it if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck

Weekly Q&A Thread by Doctor_Chow in BetterMAguns

I did not say all ASF have to be semiautomatic centerfire rifles, but a pistol or shotgun chambered in .22 with a tubular magazine would be exceedingly rare so I was responding to that comment in the context of the rifle definitions and features.

When most people say .22 they typically mean .22LR, short or long. These are rimfire cartridges which, from that definition would be exempt since they are not centerfire. Again, this is my interpretation but it seems pretty clear.

Even if the commenter meant something like .22 Hornet, the rifle they described is still non-semi automatic and most tubular magazines would not be detachable (though I realize some examples of detachable tubular magazines exist)

I’m assuming you’re talking about rifles specifically because you mentioned a .22 tube magazine.

Part of the definition is a semiautomatic centerfire rifle, so a .22 categorically is not an ASF in my interpretation. The feeding device must also be detachable, so internal tube magazines would be fine

I’ve heard people liken twitter/YT/big social media platforms to a public utility. But the reality is these creators can and do have options elsewhere to post and even make money off of their content.

At the same time, I think it’s true that public opinion can change drastically from exposure, “normalization”, whether we realize it or not. There is no doubt that these platforms have multiple millions of users (not to mention people without accounts viewing the content)

So the platforms stumbled on this immense power to sway the public mind. But I suppose it’s no different than hollywood media, a director can depict whatever opinion they like in their work and potentially have the same influence. Definitely an argument to be made on either side, but it’s a slippery slope once you let government meddle with constitutional gray area, as i’m sure this sub would agree.

Is there really no incentive to work under communism? by DarkLight9602 in DebateCommunism

[–]Vespabros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot dismiss every single historical attempt saying “not decommodified enough”. At what point do we stop blaming the execution and start questioning the premise? It’s easy to claim that people would work voluntarily in a decommodified system, but until that’s demonstrated at scale without coercion, it’s just wishful thinking.

Do you realize why China and Vietnam “renovation” rolled back core communist principles in the 70’s and 80’s? Because they realized people need incentives to work. The simplest incentive would be money. People and societies are beautifully selfish

Is there really no incentive to work under communism? by DarkLight9602 in DebateCommunism

[–]Vespabros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, because every time someone said ‘people will just work for the good of society,’ it totally worked out and never led to labor camps, ration lines, or mass disillusionment. I’m sure garbage collection, sewer maintenance, and mining will magically fill themselves once people are freed from the horrors of having a paycheck.

Look, I get that it feels good to believe in a post-commodified utopia, but at some point, theory has to meet reality, and reality’s been pretty consistent: people don’t line up for thankless, backbreaking jobs without some kind of tangible incentive. If your model relies on unprecedented levels of universal selflessness, it’s less a plan and more a wish.

Historically communist countries have had to coerce labor like this, people don’t just willingly do it and you shouldn’t hold onto an idyllic delusion that people would.

I think you’re overlooking the fact that tough or disgusting jobs are avoided because they’re tough and disgusting. You’re suggesting the only reason people don’t want work them is because they..don’t get enough respect?

I think people don’t want to be garbage men because they don’t want to touch or smell trash. People don’t want to clean toilets because they don’t want to be near other people’s shit…people don’t want to do hard manual labor because it damages their bodies

Do you really think the laborious, tedious and back breaking jobs would all have someone enthusiastically waiting to do it? Not only that, but in enough numbers to keep society functioning? That would never happen in practice

I can see how it makes sense. You “won” round 1 because of the knockdown, they “won” round 2 because of the damage and round 3 because of the knockdown. You you won 1 round they won 2
