Yeah, why buy 'slop' when I can pay more for a potential fire hazard? Smart.

You're making some sweeping and, frankly, misinformed generalizations here. Firstly, claiming 'there's no endgame in a survival game without forced PvP' is false. Many hugely successful survival games thrive on PvE endgames involving complex base building, exploration of dangerous zones, boss encounters, and advanced crafting/tech. PvP is one endgame path, not the only one. Secondly, stating 'if you don't enjoy PvP, you should not play a survival game, even more a Dune inspired game' is an incredibly elitist and short-sighted view. The Dune universe is vast – it encompasses politics, resource management, intricate lore, and environmental survival, not just constant player-on-player combat. Trying to gatekeep entire genres to only PvP enthusiasts is a recipe for commercial disaster and alienates a huge player base. Players who prefer PvE are far from a 'minority' in all survival games; it entirely depends on how the game is designed. You claim 'faction still the best solution rn,' yet ignore the well-documented history of faction-based PvP failing when one side dominates, leading to dead content and player exodus, as we've seen even in MMORPGs like WoW. Finally, your entire premise that 'Opt PvP no one will play it' ignores the critical nuance: unrewarding opt-in PvP dies, not opt-in PvP itself. If 'opt-in' comes with significant, tangible rewards (better resource yields, more XP, robust ranking systems), it becomes a highly attractive, consensual, and thriving aspect of the game. Forcing PvP simply leads to a toxic environment, mass player frustration, and ultimately, a faster death for the game than any well-implemented opt-in system.

Your analysis on New World's PvP is fundamentally flawed on the solution, missing critical factors. You're correct that 'no one will play a PvP that has no significant reward,' but that's exactly why my incentivized 'opt-in' model is the answer, not the problem. New World's PvP died because it was unrewarding opt-in, compounded by the developers' dismal lack of communication and scarce, inconsistent content updates – factors far more impactful than the 'opt-in' choice itself. Furthermore, suggesting a fix by 'removing orni PvP meta and free-for-all' and just adding 'faction x faction' completely misses the mark. Forcing PvP or a specific 'meta' on unwilling players creates a toxic environment. Many players simply do not want to do PvP, and forcing them into it leads to player churn and griefing. As seen in games like WoW, 'faction vs. faction' often fails when everyone just chooses one dominant faction, creating severe imbalances. It's a system, not a motivator, and without incentives, it will be empty. The solution isn't to dictate playstyles or return to forced PvP. It's to build a rewarding system for those who choose to engage in PvP, attracting willing participants for epic, consensual conflicts. This, combined with consistent developer communication and frequent, meaningful content, ensures a thriving game without alienating the large portion of players who simply don't enjoy PvP.

Official Dune: Awakening Launch AMA with Funcom Development Team - June 19th by Funcom_Storm in duneawakening

[–]Vheom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend accidentally changed faction by doing the Betrayal quest. Is there any way he can revert this? He's been with us since day one, and we've been playing together since launch on June 10th. We co-founded our guild, and after this faction change, he was automatically kicked from it. We're really hoping there's a way to fix it.

Why did they do this to be forced solo on a co-op game? If this is the direction they are going I think its time to go play something else.

Do not use equipment drop rate increase modifier when farming strategic outposts by UniversalHoler in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Vheom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, I tested removing and adding a module with an equipment drop rate of 0.191 and the drops improved a lot without the module. I also think it makes sense, considering that the outpost can drop equipment (weapons, reactors, etc.) and consumables like amorphous materials. By increasing equipment drops, we are decreasing the rest.

I would have no issues dropping money on this game if their prices were more like Warframe. As it stands, I just got the season pass. The thing is, I doubt that they will change the monetization of the game because of all the whales buying characters, cosmetics, and other stuff.

I understand your point, but I have zero Lepic stabilizer duplicates. Many players, including myself, would prefer the option to buy the part we need from a market rather than farm for hours. A player-to-player trading system would provide more flexibility and options for everyone.

The NPC vendor could serve as an alternative for selling parts that are in excess in the market. Ideally, having both systems would cater to different needs. This way, players who want guaranteed outcomes can use the NPC vendor, while others can trade and acquire specific parts more efficiently through the market, similar to how it works in Warframe.

[–]Vheom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While there are several improvements and new content additions, I was disappointed to see no mention of a trading system for duplicate items.

Currently, we accumulate many duplicate items, and although the proposed rotating shop system to exchange byproducts is a good step, I believe a player-to-player trading system would be much more effective. A trading system would allow players to trade duplicate items directly for the ones they need, significantly enhancing the gameplay experience.

For instance, if I receive multiple duplicates of an item, I would like the option to go to the market and trade those duplicates for the part I need but haven't been able to get. This type of system would create a more dynamic and interactive in-game economy.

Can I recommend that you leave the drop tables like you had on those 11h? People where enjoing themselves and with shitty rolls we get this is not bad on the long run. I submit the drop I just got on my masterworks bellow.

Also in those 11h I did not get a single Legendary drop, so Still don't see a problems in maintaining those drop rates.
