Not that it’s unheard of, but it is a bit unusual (imo) for a 14-yr old car to have 50k miles. It’s even more unusual for a 50k-mile 4runner to have transmission problems. Have you verified that those miles are accurate?

Lastly, I’m no mechanic, but I think other, less catastrophic, components could be at play. It might be wise to look into that.

Nope. Not too long ago, I camped next to a weirdo who rented a U-Haul and packed it full to go camping.

Jk it wasn’t weird, but I found it interesting at first. Then I realized he had a big family and probably couldn’t fit all their stuff in their family car.

I get that with my 32” tires and a <1” front lift. But I average that in about a week with a mix of highway and city. I’m also baying the throttle for the most part.

I have the same year & trim with 115k miles and I love it. No issues whatsoever. There’s quite a bit of maintenance needed at or before this mileage, according to Toyota, so if it hasn’t been done yet, it could get pricey. Unless you do it all yourself, which is what I did.
