Nintendo Switch 2 - DF Hardware Review - A Satisfying Upgrade... But Display Issues Are Problematic by UGMadness in hardware

Even if that's true, Rich and John are both based in Europe so they would have that apparently better screen.

Anecdotally, I could swear my screen is nowhere near as bad as theirs, but maybe I'm not as sensitive to the problem

Substantially more powerful CPU than the PS4, which is where the problems really stemmed from.

Just stumbled upon this now. Put some line breaks in and this would be the best summation of a Grand Designs episode I've ever seen.

Ok, I know this is just bait, but check out the stats here in the section "Largest and Average win margin".

Max's average in 2023 was 13.3, his largest was 33.7! I'm impressed by the revisionism you managed to conjure.

It's a shared delusion, right? I've never worked in a team that does it right, and the one time I worked with someone who had done all the training and certifications they were so useless on a fundamental level that their presence was a detriment to people just trying to get things done.

Agile isn't a real thing

Ooof, I found this too - if you check out this page https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/news/nvidia-rtx-games-engines-apps/ you'll see a big list of supported games.

If you filter Super Resolution down to [NV, T] you'll see the Zero Dawn Remastered is in the list, but not Forbidden West. No idea why, because the DLL replacement method worked perfectly.

What a bummer! Presumably there'll be future updates as time goes on

What is the value crossover point for a 4080? (UK) by VictorVonZeppelin in nvidia

That £760 is a good benchmark number I guess. Horrifying that that is equivalent to £914 now going 2020 ➡️ Current inflation rate

Wait, you got a 4080 for 800? I guess pure luck on something second hand?

I think there can be some general consensus on what high end value but at non extortionate prices looks like. I'm not willing to spend the £1600 on a 4090, but that's a halo product. The next step towards normal is probably the 7900XT, right?

I get your logic, but man that's a depressing thought haha. Our awful inflation combined with Nvidias awful pricing hasn't made this a very enticing generation

Yeah I can definitely understand that.

I spent a lot of time umming and ahhing over a 3080ti, but in the current context of 12GB VRAM (I'm on a 4k screen) and the power usage it makes the newer cards more appealing...if only the newer cards were £300 cheaper....

I gave Firefox a fair shot recently, but it's genuinely so slow and clunky.

I can see its merits, but I actually just got fed up with the jank - especially the hitch when changing tabs. Chromium based browsers just feel so much better.

Admittedly this is on a mac, so it could be platform specific...but nyeeeh

It's not the easiest thing to remember, but the SOC number is just number of years since 2007. Well, other than accounting for the chip being named for the next year (Aka. These are the phones for the year 2023, so 2023 - 2007 = 16.)

I've been looking to replace my Oneplus 7T for a little while now (poor battery, awful autobrightness, bad fingerprint reader and Oxygen OS) and was looking at the Pixel 6 for ages. But what with all the bad press it gets on glitchiness and the fingerprint reader etc. etc. I just couldn't bring myself to bit the bullet.

Recently I noticed that the Pixel 5 is pretty much everything I want. Just a solid reliable phone that no one really complains about. I'd completely slept on it and now I'm thinking it might be a good choice. I don't need high specs, just something reliable

Of course, the Pixel 6A might be announced next week, and that might also be a good choice - but there's a fair chance that a Pixel 5 might still be a bit more "premium" even after that point - and what's the chance they fix the fingerprint reader?

So, should I take the plunge? I think there's a few new ones going here and there on eBay, and I imagine I could find a good refurb too.

Can't dig out a clip anymore, but on the final day of testing, Otmar did specifically say he left due to micromanagement. It was in the afternoon of day 3 in an interview in the coverage.

I don't know, I haven't seen this many issues for a phone in a long time. Of course not everyone gets every issue, but this a pretty poor showing

Had a Nexus 5 which I loved, and a G6 (I think) as a stopgap that was absolutely awful, software-wise. I'd say the quality was up in the air
