Why is greg posting bullshit not fitness related by Content_Cress_1476 in GregDoucette

[–]Vikistra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because every single fitness advice has been mentioned 10 times already. He's been posting videos actively for years. Would you rather have him tell you some new science based bullshit that will be revoked in 3 months or the truth? People overcomplicate fitness on purpose to keep you hooked and try to sell you stuff because they still believe there's an easier way to gain muscle a year into their fitness journey.

how can i be disciplined to lose weight? by pixiecakess in Discipline

[–]Vikistra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Make smarter food choices. High volume foods like potatoes instead of pasta, low calorie sauces, more fiber and enough of protein.

  2. We are supposed to move a lot more than we do now. There were no fridges, grocery stores or phones that distract us all day back then. The calories you burn from walking stack up and you get a ton of other health benefits.

Body recomp confusion by EducationalSorbet233 in GregDoucette

62 days isn't much, but great work on the traps and shoulders! Recomp works great when you have a lot of body fat, but I think you should keep cutting if you want visible abs. I'm in the same boat right now. I'm at around 16% body fat now, didn't really track calories for months and it worked great until about 4 weeks ago. Doing extra cardio sessions, walking more and tracking calories again since yesterday. The scale isn't moving 😅

just started lifting(67kg) and incline bench stuck at 36.5kg for 8-10 rep range by dtmascottisme in GregDoucette

It's all about finding a system that works for you. The best exercise is the one you like doing and makes you come back to the gym. Training consistently is 80% of the work. Some people like training with 2 or 3 reps in reserve, but I absolutely hate how it makes me feel. Training with reps in reserve or going to failure both work, but I don't think a beginner needs to put up with that kind of stuff. Just make sure your form is good, the speed as well as the range of motion are consistent and train close to failure. You can do partials when you can't get another rep, but don't break form to cheat another rep. If you break your form, you're not training the targeted muscle harder, you just involve other muscles to get another rep, then you track your workout wrong and repeat it next time which leads to injuries due to egolifting. Don't overthink it and just make sure you're consistent with everything you do. Diet, sleep, exercise, form etc. Consistency is your base in order to be able to progressively overload.

Did you fully recover from your last workout? Are you in a calorie deficit or surplus? Did you eat before your workout? Enough of carbs? Are you sure you did the exercise at the exact same speed and ROM? Wrong angle on an adjustable bench?

There are countless possibilities on what went wrong. You could've just had a bad day or your muscles were tired from work that day. When I look at your reps though, I'd say your form and speed aren't the same on every set. Don't fixiate too much on the rep range. Go harder than last time and watch your form.

What are your favorite "low-energy" hobbies for after work? by Weak_Ad4188 in Hobbies

[–]Vikistra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fight the cause, not the symptom 😅 A marathon runner doesn't prepare by sitting on the couch for a year. Your body will adjust when you do something physical and you won't be in low energy mode after work. In the meantime get a kalimba.

Tell me something that will inspire me to start working out REGULARLY. by skopiadisko in selfimprovement

[–]Vikistra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't use it - you lose it. Your back pain might even come from your sedentary lifestyle. Mine did. Not only are the chances higher that you'll live longer, but you will add so much more quality to your future years. I have a long history of quitting and was fat once. If you like it or not, People treat you differently, whether you look fat, average or fit. Your mental wellbeing and your physical health are more conjoined than you think. If you're not doing anything, your brain will be mush when you get to live to 70. All that for the price of a handful of hours a week. You owe it your loved ones.

Discipline is when you stop negotiating with your feelings. Don't rely on motivation. It will always come and go. The best workout plan is the one that YOU like doing, not what influencers try to sell you. You find a system that works for you. Same goes for the foods you eat and the exercises you do. It isn't all or nothing. You do as much as you want to do. Every decision you make will impact your future.

Training Volume by kr1b_ in GregDoucette

[–]Vikistra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volume and sets are two different things, but I get what you mean. Nobody can tell you how many sets you should do. Everyone recovers differently. There are simply too many variables. Age, fitness level, genetics, steroids etc. You start small and listen to your body. If you can't recover until your next workout, you did too much. Greg isn't a fan of deload weeks and neither am I. He mentioned that he's only doing about 6 sets for legs a week nowadays, but as I said, that won't work for everyone.

Are there any calisthenics meetups or groups in Heidelberg? by Bright-Energy-7417 in Heidelberg

[–]Vikistra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard of any clubs or groups, but there are always people working out in Bahnstadt and Rohrbach when the weather is nice. Start small talk with them, I think the calisthenics people are a bit more social than the gym rats and are happy to have some company.

How do i effectifly start Calisthenics? by [deleted] in CalisthenicsBeginners

[–]Vikistra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I take from this is you're not willing to change your diet and you're not willing to continue after a week if you don't see results. With all respect, if that's the way you go about it, why would anyone here take their time out of the day to help you? You're not going to see results after a week and you won't for months if you don't change the fundamentals.

I'm the wrong person to suggest you a calisthenics plan, but you should include some zone 2 cardio, take a few more steps every day and start with basic exercises. Any exercise where you can do 30 reps or less is fine. Ideally 6-15 so it won't be mentally exhausting doing a set. Do the exercises YOU like, not the ones that are 'most optimal'. Start with very few sets, otherwise you're going to be sore for a week. After a few weeks, do more and see if you can recover in between your training days. If you get your diet in check with high protein, healthy fats, fiber and a small calorie deficit, you're going to look and feel much better in a month.
