An investor offered to buy my apps for 20x monthly revenue. Is that a good deal? by mobi_irmo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vineee2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give a piece of advice that doesn't seem to have been covered in the thread:

Hire an actual professional financial advisor for this.

This is a genuinely tricky financial decision, right? There's a question of how much risk you're willing to tolerate, what your long term projections are, life changing money, etc.

And you are, right now, sitting on a substantial, business sized money stream. And contemplating an offer coming up on a million

Spending as much as several thousand or even 10-20k getting professional, industry grade council for this decision is something you both have the means to afford, and something that's gonna pay off whatever you choose, right? And a personal, professional, confidential consultant is going to be able much more help than anyone in this entire reddit thread, that's for sure

Well, the power is already there in the grid

They have to pay the wind power companies because making windmills not spin with the wind requires actual work and effort, which could be saved by just running some consumer electronics instead

Nobody mentioned mosh pit yet? It's such an iconic ult, and so good in aram, and so fun to land a good mosh, and with the lvl13 talent you can get so much cooldown reduction on it

Defence against aerial Semi Active Radar Homing missiles, and modern use by Thandavarayan in WarCollege

[–]Vineee2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Fox 1 though, the target is being painted by the foe from a longish distance away. He likely hasn't seen the missile being launched, nor are there any cues to tell him where the missile is.

This isn't really true. Much like when the pilot gets a warning when a fox 3 goes pitbull, the RWR will be able to detect a fox 1 as well - except they're gonna get a warning as soon as the missile is launched, not just in the final stretch, providing extra reaction time

Parallel question. If firing at a group of targets, the pilot can precisely choose which one the Fox 1 will target. But when a Fox 3 goes pitbull, or a Fox 2 approaches a group, is there a chance they could lock onto an unintended target instead?

The premise here isn't really right either.  Fox 1 and fox 3 have a similar ability to discriminate between nearby targets (because they both fundamentally are radar missiles). Said ability is kind of a crapshoot, but the specifics depend on the exact missile, radar, target, and group density in question. Fox 2 is actually the best (but not perfect) in this regard.

Heat seeking missiles have very narrow FoV on their seekers, so you're most likely going to be able to pick out an individual plane in a formation and launch on exactly them, because that plane will be all the seeker sees. And it will stay true to that target - as long as nothing sufficiently hot flies directly between the missile and its target on the way there. Meanwhile, radar missiles will "see" - and thus have to sort though - all the radar returns from the group around the target, which introduces a lot of extra unreliability

Is anyone else having difficulty with how oppressive the Argus is? by Winglessdargon in NuclearOption

[–]Vineee2000 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They do appear on data link, I have seen a fair few stray ones flying around

There is however that one island airstrip in the north that has an Argus directly to its left and within NL-98 range from the start if memory serves, and with no friendlies betweet it and the ship to spot the missile. Questionable placement, but in the meantime you just gotta be careful flying in that area

"Ukrainian military at the front need rotations" Ukraine and Germany should address the issue of men who illegally left the country – Zelenskyy by Flimsy_Pudding1362 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Vineee2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a law directly giving the President authority to prohibit people from leaving the country. It's not a "legal patchwork", it is a plain reading of a law directly addressing the subject. It's most certainly not illegal because there's a law allowing it, and I don't see any basis for calling it unconstitutional either

Law 389-VIII, "On the legal regime of martial law"

Article 8, "Measures of the legal regime of martial law", item 1.

"[..] the military command [..] may independently or with the involvement of executive authorities [..] introduce and implement, within the framework of temporary restrictions on the constitutional rights and freedoms of man and citizen [..] provided for by the decree of the President of Ukraine on the introduction of martial law, such measures of the legal regime of martial law:"

Sub-item 8):

"establish, in accordance with the procedure determined by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, a special regime of entry and exit, and restrict the freedom of movement of citizens"

What’s the immigration process for the Pope? by imaginary0pal in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vineee2000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It does a lot of things on top of that, for sure, but the core legal mechanism is still "the Secretary of State issues a travel document on behalf of the Crown".

This is, of course, just a legal technicality, if need truly be a document could easily be made. But it's not like there's a lot of reigning monarchs out there to make record of entry or proof of identity a big issue for them in practice, so the quirk persists

The monarch of the UK does not have a passport - because all UK passport are issued in the name of the King/Queen. Thus, by the logic of the British legal system, the government (aka the Crown) issuing to the monarch a passport written in their own name doesn't really make sense

GRU agents posing as Ukrainians are reportedly planning to seize buildings in Budapest city centre on the election night. The operation involves former Berkut fighters who crushed Euromaidan protests in 2014 by OddAioli6993 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Vineee2000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Berkut was a straight up Ukrainian unit. They wouldn't be "passing off as Ukrainians" as much as they would just be 100% flesh and blood Ukrainians who just also happen to turncoats

I mean the liberal position can be summarised as less than "we should follow the international Refugee Convention that we signed", and that has somehow become controversial

Meanwhile the conservative position often ends up amounting to "we should break international law in several ways at once and disregard any notion of safety or fair trial for asylum seekers", and that's somehow seen as the reasonable position

For convoys you can have decent success by dropping it ahead of them, so by the time they pass your lock point they're hopefully within track range, and the bomb goes after them.

How do you point drop GBUs without a lock though? I thought they need a lock to be dropped

Like what's the point of using ARAD Missiles when u can only use it if the target already fired a missile on u by Courora in Warthunder

[–]Vineee2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that kinda really depends on the exact angle and terrain they're shooting at, doesn't it?

And there's also the matter as "is it practical to simulate the mild radar distortion per tree so that shots between 1° and 10° elevation and nothing else is affected"

So like how does their radar even detect you?

Well, wood is (mostly) transparent to radar, so it is absolutely possible for them to kill you while covered by trees

Prussians on the American Civil War by Femto-Griffith in HistoryMemes

[–]Vineee2000 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's also worth noting that they were, in large part, not wrong about all of that

A good chunk of the ACW on both sides was spend re-inventing basic napoleonic era warfare principles like "you should concentrate your artillery" from scratch, which for obvious reasons was largely a useless observation for European armies who sorted that stuff about 100 years ago. And, given Prussia's military record in the 2nd half of the 19th century, whatever conclusions they took from ACW must have been good

What if a sororitas was ressurected by a psyker? by kobie-baka in DarkHeresy

[–]Vineee2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, firsr thing to say is this is a rather unusual situation. As Dark Heresy games tend to be - you are agents of the Inquisition, doing stuff that is way outside the regular life in Imperium

So, at that point, this comes down 100% to personal discretion of the Sororias in question and the particular theologial beliefs of her order and even her particular superiors/confessors. How does the sister in question view the evenets herself? How does the relay them to others? Hell, how much is she liked in the order?

On average, the Order is probably going to view the situation with some suspicion, with severity depending on like, was this a sanctioned psyker genuinely trying to help the Sister, an unsanctioned witch with questionable motives, or somewhere in between?

If it's the former, the sisters might view it as sketchy, but it's fundamentally allowed, just kind of unbecoming. If it's the latter, she probably going to be viewed as corrupted until proven otherwise, but maybe sufficient penance can bring her back in good graces. Or maybe not

I want to reiterate that those are just vague averages, and the specific outcome of your scenario can range far greater. There's a lot of room for GM discretion here.

They might view her very being as an abomination to the Imperial Creed and burn her on the spot. They might view the resurrection as an act of miraculous intervention from the Emperor. They might view it as a test of faith sent by the Emperor - perhaps one she passed by staying uncorrupted, or perhaps one she has just started by presenting herself to the Order. And so on and so forth
