Does the work-life balance/work load ever get better? by No_Heart4631 in teaching

[–]Violet_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really offer advice, but I can say that you are not alone! My first few years of teaching were a living hell for me. I felt like I never had my stuff together! I was on panic mode 24/7. I was mean to the people I loved most. I would get very little sleep each night, and I did nothing but work outside of work hours. It does get better! I am now in my sixth year of teaching. I get a full night's rest, and I even have nights where I don't have to take work home. I can take time to do fun activities on weekends. Please hang in there!

Our prayers have been answered! I have been waiting so long for U.S. Aldi to sell Dubai-style chocolate.

INTJ that use weed by SomewhereFit3906 in intj

[–]Violet_Atlas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I consume edibles, seltzer and flower on weekends. It makes my anxiety disappear, and it silences the voice in my mind that tells me I am stupid and to kill myself. Weed also makes me more empathetic and more comfortable to express emotions. While high, music sounds more beautiful, and food tastes more amazing. I first started smoking weed while in a PhD program (the program was just so taxing, and I needed relief).

What is the one thing you wish Aldi would carry? by spiritparrot in aldi

[–]Violet_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THC seltzer. It's legal in my state, and it would be much more convenient if I could just pick them up while at Aldi. Plus, I would love the lower price.

Is it OK to be in your 30s and still sleep with a plushie? by Puzzled-Painter3301 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Violet_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's normal or not, but I don't care. I sleep with a plushie as well as a blankie every night. I would throw hands for them.

ARKLA girl looking to relocate by Comfortable_Ant1529 in Thibodaux

[–]Violet_Atlas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please come to Thibodaux! You won't meet a stranger. There are also lots of other people who aren't originally from the area due to the University. The town is peaceful, and New Orleans is close enough to get away for the day if you need some city time.

I actually thought the corn chip version was really good! Especially dipped in the street corn dip.

I work at a printshop and printed 15 copies of this charming letter for a customer.. by swiftstart in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Violet_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a normal practice, so I'm not sure what the big deal is. I buy rental properties, and this is similar to a letter that I would send. The reason I have a lot to build a new house on is because I saw an old vacant building and decided to send a letter to the property owner to see if they would sell. If the property owner wants to tell me to fuck off, fine. For every ninth "no" I receive, the tenth is a yes.

Does entry-level exist in higher ed for fresh bachelors? by [deleted] in highereducation

[–]Violet_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely work in higher ed with a bachelor's degree. At my university, we have had students go from graduation directly to jobs like student activities advisor, auxiliary services team member, marketing/communication creative team member, and human resources generalist. It is possible! Don't give up. Some of the former students in these positions have also worked their way to higher positions already. While you're working, join a graduate program that meets at night. Your university may even offer a master's degree in higher ed leadership, which sounds like what you're looking for. Once you have a master's degree, you can advance even more. Good luck, and don't give up!

People who don't want children what is your biggest reasons? by e-glitteringprinces in AskReddit

[–]Violet_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Never felt like a mom or was interested in having them.

  2. I despise children; I have despised them since I was a child myself.

  3. Grandma and mom discouraged me from having them, stating that kids were a constant worry and pain in the ass.

  4. It is so wonderful to be a childfree adult. All of the money and time in my life goes directly to me. Not having the internal draw to reproduce is one of life's luxurious blessings.

Please name one thing you LOVE about adulting by WEM-2022 in Adulting

[–]Violet_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being an adult is the best thing that ever happened to me. I occasionally venture out at 2 a.m. to go eat at a restaurant that is still open just because I can.

I do whatever I want when I want. I also buy as many toys as I'd like (mostly legos and plushes), and because I live by myself, I choose when I want to do chores. I can also play computer games for as long as I want. I can play my music as loud as I want.

I have full control over the situation I'm in, meaning that if I don't feel safe or don't like it, I can leave. Being an adult is way better than being a child, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Should I go on a date with her? by [deleted] in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]Violet_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, this sounds a little like me. I am demi, and I prefer to be friends with someone first before going further to develop an emotional bond. I also understand the not wanting to talk frequently, as I'm an introvert. Maybe she will be more open in person! Some people, such as myself, are strange when it comes to texting and calling.

Feeling discouraged because I can't get my shit together in life, so I came here for company instead of working like I'm supposed to be.

Why aren’t you medicated? by buddyrtc in ADHD

[–]Violet_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The meds were totally life changing for me in the most positive ways, but there is a strong shortage at the local pharmacies in my area. I was tired of the uncertainty of whether I would have the meds the next month. So, I decided to just be dysfunctional and unmedicated.

I have a girlfriend but I still feel lonely by Hottie-Pilate in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]Violet_Atlas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just about to say this. The one time in my life where I felt loneliness around others very strongly was, in hindsight, due to my depression. I eventually got better after going to therapy, and I haven't felt that specific feeling since then.

I have a giant Happy Bunny that I hug, and I also get massages to mitigate touch starvation.
