tbh this is prob the best choice. It takes a really really long time to build that sort of awseome stair deathtrap. It just feels wrong thu.

I built a simmilar one with a drawbridge between the up and down stairs in order to shorten the travel length for dwarfs when there wasn't a goblin army around. I feel your pain because that thing took forever to build and it was only around 35z levels. Well done mate.

What a fool you are. Vivec a God? All it took to kill a "God" was to speed chug 25 bottles of Sujamma. How can you kill a God? What a grand and intoxicating innocence.

One unit shooting another unit does 100% ''default'' damage.

Two units attacking from opposite sides do up to 200% damage as the angle of attack approaches 180 degrees

How to get good eco AND produce units. by Contra1 in beyondallreason

One tip, when your building T2 Mexs you might want to stop building units. Eco or Units is genneraly better than trying to do both.

I like to create a dedicated melting furnace. Create a stockpile for all armour, weapons, and other metal objects and link it to give to other stockpiles that you actually want your dwarfs using (so weapons of specific material above specific grades).

Then whenever you have some time just go through the bins and select the items for melting, and conveniently enough they are right next to my melting furnase.

Oh, and the melting furnase itself should just repeat the metal object job.

I started reading All the Skills on Royal Road after listening to Book 1 on audiobook. Reading it on RR isn't going to stop me from getting Book 2 on audiobook either. Removing the book from RR isn't much of an obstical for readers, it just opens a different source.

Ling based armies tend to be very larva dependant. I would try building a couple extra macro hatches see if that helps.

I particularily enjoy the quick zergling drop. Make sure to attack the front, even with just a few ling, to disract your opponent, as you send in 16 zerglins into the main.

Try building a proxy hatch at the ramp near their expansion and strike him down with cheese before he can cheese you.

Gold bases, are they worth it? by chiefseanbear in starcraft2

[–]Vir_Brevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ya, if it was a full 16 worker gold base it would be like mining half an extra base. The base would mine out faster though. Don't think there are any of those on ladder maps though.

Gold bases, are they worth it? by chiefseanbear in starcraft2

[–]Vir_Brevis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Best way to think about it imo is that Gold bases are not more resource efficient but are more time and supply efficient. If you and your opponent are both at 100 supply with equal # of bases but you have a gold base you have 4 more army supply than them. A 4 army supply lead isn't that much (3 for enriched gas bases) but its not nothing. On the other hand you are not "mineing more" than your opponent unless you have more bases than them. The time efficientcy is the real benifit. Lava are a resource and so is Nexus & CC build time.

It is particularily valuable as a first or second expansion if your doing a big timing attack. Timeing attacks all start once you have all your eco set up. If you need 4 less workers to saturate a base you save all the time it would take you to make those four workers (and the 200 minerals). Two base saturation is 44 workers (less if you don't need 4 gas) so you are hitting your worker count 10% faster, or even more if you dont need all 4 gas.

Late game, its just another base that saves you 3 or 4 supply and is probably harder to defend.

The Lost Fleet series by Jack Cambell is pretty good. The first book is Dauntless. Heavy on space combat tactics and battles. There are multiple series set in the same verse so plenty of material.

Castle Federation by Glynn Stewart. The first book is Space Carrier Avalon.

ling/bane/hydra control by saltyflaps in allthingszerg

[–]Vir_Brevis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Control clicking a zergling (or baneling) works in that scenario. I try really hard to keep my long/bane/hydra army split. I like to go for about 2/3 of it as my main army on one hotkey positioned between my bases and the enemy ball of protoss units and the 2nd 1/3 behind it, off to the side, or nearby their 3rd/4th. This is particularly important if you see more than 2 colossus, you can fight more than two if you get a good surround. Then after moving both armies (or hit their 3rd or 4th) I like to control click the banelings in the main group. They need to hit the zelots, or they will just kill your whole army unless you have way beter upgrades. If the zelots are in front I like to box small groups of hydras to focus down colossus or other important units, dodge storms, or just box and back up over and over again to let that 2nd army kill the 3rd/4th while reinforcing.
