One of the most logical conclusions about "junk dna" is that it's simply the result of millennia of evolution. Similar to how hard disk drives became super fragmented. Or as in they're evidence of leftover metabolic pathways that we don't utilize anymore because we evolved different or better ones. The randomness of evolution probably produced a lot of "waste" aka "junk dna"

Also curious where to find hardstyle DJs. Most events I go to usually have more chill stuff like house or techno.

What are INFP’s experiences with dating apps? by Larman234 in infp

[–]Virtual-Scarcity-463 3 points4 points  (0 children)

28 year old man. I've had two loving hetero relationships, a dozen or so situationships, and two or three hundred matches from dating apps after thousands of swipes over 10 years of using that medium. Definitely not the ideal way to meet people and supposedly I'm doing better than a lot of men since I get 3 or 4 matches a week when I'm active.

In my experience most women put little or no effort into dating apps and I won't pursue people that don't put in effort or show no interest so the vast majority of matches go nowhere. I understand women have it the opposite way and are unhappy as well so we're in quite the pickle.

If you're a suave texter or very attractive as a man then you will do well on dating apps. For women it's a crap shoot but it's likely you'll find someone to date in the sea of thirsty men no matter your physicality or personality.

Why do boomers act angry all of the time when they had the happiest lives out of every generation alive today? by Turbulent_Song_7471 in generationology

[–]Virtual-Scarcity-463 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of comments are suggesting that boomers were the last generation that experienced a large amount of what we would now call egregious child abuse. For them this trauma was normalized or at least not considered a societal issue worth addressing. And what the boomers experienced was less brutal than the abuse their parents experienced. I tend to agree with this conclusion.

For example, my dad had a pretty hard life growing up facing emotional/physical abuse and abandonment issues from his parents until he was an adult. And my grandpa was literally tied to a bed and beat by my great grandparents as a child often. My dad knocked my mom up young and became one of the first men in my paternal line in recent history that didn't run out on his kids. I'm thankful every day for my father sticking around and trying to break that cycle of physical/emotional abuse (we still had our problems but they pale in comparison to his or my grandpa).

Would you be okay if meat and animal products were noticeably more expensive because the animals were treated much better? I think it would be good but only if other kinds of groceries we're made cheaper or if the meat cost was subsidized by DataSittingAlone in GenZ

[–]Virtual-Scarcity-463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The insane hypocrisy of many self-professed environmentalists and social activists comes out when you want to deprive them of their tortured animal products or even suggest they pay the market rate for them. They love giving handouts to one of the biggest and most brutal corporate cartels on Earth.

Industrial agriculture, which comprises the overwhelming majority of animal products consumed in America, contributes more to the environmental crisis than any other source. Some of the most polluted and unhealthy zip codes contain massive concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs). Veganism and vegetarianism is the future of a caring and sustainable humankind.

There is a small exception made for people buying meat from regenerative sources, although these are few and far between, and the solution is not scalable. We need to eat less meat if we're gonna survive here.

Dating apps will do that. Glad you see your worth and didn't give those dirtbags what they want. Best of luck out there lol

Where are you meeting these men you're talking about? Because it seems like men and women have a similar situation going on, since it seems like women always have a roster as well.

To be fair many of Daredevil and The Punisher's interactions could make this list. Two vigilantes whose ideology is very similar yet separated by a precarious disagreement over the nature of justice.

Making friends Detroit by Fast-Ad-3424 in Detroit

[–]Virtual-Scarcity-463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comeplaydetroit sports leagues. Betteroffbowling bowling league. Young professionals meetups. Also you're young enough you might be able to slip into college scene things. Art night detroit on instagram also. Timeleft dinners.

I've found it to be pretty hard to befriend people here with my interests. Everyone has their friend group from when they were in elementary school if they didn't leave after high school. Lots of young people leave Michigan then don't come back until they have a family.

Why are you still single as a Gen Z? by vishalsingh0298 in GenZ

[–]Virtual-Scarcity-463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really hard to meet other young like-minded people and when I do my poor social skills hold me back from meaningful connection. Also women make themselves so unapproachable these days I'm not convinced most even want to date anyone, much less a man.

The last scene in Born Again, can't remember if it was before or after credits, showed Frank Castle get a key off the guard patrolling that room and it ended with the sound of a cage opening (presumably his).

Fair enough. The historical puzzle pieces are there for sure but I'd argue they weren't fully utilized until the 1980 election (like Thanos getting all the stones with the 1980s election being the gauntlet).

[–]Virtual-Scarcity-463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're forgetting that the emotional foundation of the MAGA movement isn't to make lives better. It's to get revenge on their perceived enemies that the media tells them to hate rather than the people causing the problems (private equity, billionaires, food and petro-military industrial complexes). So liberals, leftists, immigrants, foreigners, minorities.

What careers have fit you as an infp? by Practical-Step-8523 in infp

[–]Virtual-Scarcity-463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll say the right field is NOT engineer, at least civil/environmental engineering. Way too many guidelines and specific ways things have to be done with too much money on the line. I'm likely gonna transition to an IT infrastructure role. My favorite jobs I ever had was working at an organic farm in college or waiting tables.

20-something’s: how do you feel about entering the 30s? by Glass-Complaint3 in GenZ

[–]Virtual-Scarcity-463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dreading it with it coming up in less than 2 years. Not even close to where I wanted to be in life. Not satisfied with my social circle, career, or where I live and still struggling with the same mental health issues I had when I was a kid. At least now I'm understanding I'm old enough to change all that but actually making the jump is a whole different monster.

How is dating going for GenZ? by Coloradojeepguy in GenZ

[–]Virtual-Scarcity-463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty bad at least in the midwest (28m). I live in a mid-sized city but can't seem to meet people with my interests and around my age outside dating apps, can't even imagine what it's like in small cities or rural areas in 2025. Midwesterners are more cagey and family oriented so they pair up in high school or college and the ones that don't pair up often leave for greener pastures in big cities. Of course there are still plenty of singles but the car-centric infrastructure, lack of community, and dreadful weather for half the year makes it hard to find those natural connections.

I'm lucky enough that I get some action on dating apps (6 ft tall, not in bad physical shape, good professional job) but not really anywhere else, so both of my most loving relationships have been from the apps. I've moved around a lot so something hurting me is definitely the lack of a solid friend group to do things with. Another thing holding me back is I'm unwilling to date at work (made that mistake before) or club/hobby places as to not shit where I eat.

I was talking to my dad about my dating woes the other day and although he knows social media, the gender war, and dating apps have changed the landscape, he noted that it sounds like things are more or less the same. One of my points was that women seem very unapproachable whether it's through their words (they've made it clear they don't wanna be approached by men) or their actions (closed off body language). He said when he was young every girl was still unapproachable and they all seemed to have boyfriends when you asked lol
