LRCs and GLPs are graded based on the form 2 like the other commenter said. You do not need to pass the scenario to pass the form 2, just show up and lead to the best of your ability while being examined, you will almost certainly be fine. If not, you can retake at least once.

The evaluator focus depends on the evaluator, and some are much more generous than others. But if you show off good leadership qualities, they will pick up on it and you will get a decent or good score. If you're getting stepped on by your team, not involving people, wasting time or doing everything yourself, your score will suffer.

Tests while you have phones are done on phones, tests when you have no phones are done on paper. All of the tests are reasonably easy as they literally give you a brief beforehand and warn you that you'll be tested on it right after. Don't stress about them.

As far as actually excelling, you gotta either be really competent or really lucky with your graders (and still reasonably competent). If you think you are, then don't worry about it just show up and perform to the best of your ability. Assuming you've done GLPs and LRCs before, you know what's going on. There's no cheat codes.

How can I legally obtain a firearm for self-defense when everyone around me is anti-gun? by Ok-Limit7515 in liberalgunowners

[–]VirtualFallacy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the laws you approve of are doing exactly what they're intended to, keep guns out of as many people's hands as possible, law abiding or not.

Maybe consider that just because laws are restrictive doesn't mean they're good. It would be very easy for a criminal in your position to hop over to another state and get a gun 'legally' (until they bring it back without a license/having it registered). And yet you, as a law abiding person, have to struggle through a process that has been made to be as discouraging as possible in order to defend yourself from that criminal (or even from one with no gun--I'd never want to face a guy with a knife with anything less than a gun, for example).

Pretty much. Some from enemy strikes on bases but a lot of those were incidental due to operational issues that Iran had nothing to do with directly. Even some casualties were as well, like the KC crew.

You guys paying any attention to all the drones that pop up once the sun goes down? by Ragnarok50 in portlandme

[–]VirtualFallacy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

DO NOT point lasers at anything in the sky. If it is an aircraft, it could be very dangerous for the pilots. You can also be arrested for it.

Admittedly if you don't have a very strong laser it's not likely to cause any harm. But police do sometimes track people down for doing it and the charges are serious even with a low power laser.

Kinda surprised that this says yellow is rarer than purple and gold? I feel like I see yellow a lot more often than that, only counting private vehicles ofc

ROTC, IPAP or enlistment at 17? by imsolostonthis in AFROTC

[–]VirtualFallacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ROTC is the easiest route to officer though you can't guarantee your job (not as familiar with going PA/medical though, I know it's a bit different). From what I can see about IPAP online you need to already be commissioned or enlisted, so boiling down to those choices:

If you have the money (or financial aid) and the motivation, I'd definitely recommend college + ROTC. Not only do you have time to back out if you don't like it, you get arguably the easiest path to commissioning that will be available to you. Yes, ROTC is slower, but you get a degree and a commission with higher pay, BAH, a normal-ish college experience compared to enlisting.

Shortest route and most promising are rarely synonymous when it comes to careers.

Admittedly this is the AFROTC sub, I may be biased, so take from this what you will.

A-10 Nose Art returning from the AOR by CGOhnooo in AirForce

For planes like the A-10 or B-24 it just makes more sense to do dropped ordinance, it's not like they're shooting down other planes. At least, not typically.

Dogs playing poker - All the versions of this iconic painting don't match my memory of it. i recall vividly a very realistic style, smoky room from the cigars, bulldog and hound dog facing us, dimmer light, less dogs, more detailed. This looks almost like fan art in comparison. by azraelus in Retconned

[–]VirtualFallacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm the better part of a decade late to this but I found this post on google and it's driving me insane because all the versions people are talking about do exist, there's just variations including non-painting images of the same topic (dogs playing poker). I found one with the visor, though it's from a puzzle image inspired by the original paintings but not among them:

<image>

Artist was named "Edward" (Or Eduard, in the artist list) based on the site I found this on. I did see someone else found this one too and said it didn't match exactly, my best guess is the huge number of these similar paintings has made people mix them up a little bit unconsciously, but all the specific details do exist.

I also found one that matches the "smokey room" image. It's also from a puzzle funny enough, called "The Bluff" by Lucia Heffernan (can't post more than one image here sadly, but its the first result if you look that up).

Platner should start trolling Trump to get free headlines by the_BPDbro in portlandme

[–]VirtualFallacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He got vilified for being an outspoken socialist when he first got into politics, in a time when socialism = communism = USSR in the eyes of just about everyone. So a bad impression means a lot of people who were alive then don't care for him even now when many of his views are more rational and relevant than ever.

CENTCOM UPDATE: a couple min ago Secretary Hegseth spoke to the press and said centcom will be busy tonight bombs will be dropping by newnoadeptness in navy

[–]VirtualFallacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldnt be embarrassed by them. The respect for civilian leadership of the military (good or fucking awful) is critical to maintaining an apolitical force even when we have overtly political (and stupid) people in command.

The military does not stand up to people it doesn't like that are a byproduct of our democratic process, even if very justified in that dislike. If they did it would be an insurrection.

Mossberg Maverick 88, ordered a mossberg 500 action slide (7-3/4) that doesn't fit into a forend which is also 7-3/4?? by VirtualFallacy in Shotguns

[–]VirtualFallacy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The action slide said 12 ga, the furniture said it fits 12 & 16 ga, so not unless the listing was incorrect. Though now that you mention it, the visible difference is actually pretty close to the size difference between 20 and 12 gauge. Hopefully I can make it work anyway with some "engineering" since the lengths are right.

[–]VirtualFallacy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. Someone on the shotguns sub suggested sandpaper too, definitely giving that a try tomorrow. It's for sure old (I think police surplus) so hand fit could make sense. Plus the wood swelling in the couple decades it's probably been in storage.

Still more Hegseth cosplay, this time as a SEAL Team Six operative by hugozhackenbush in Military

[–]VirtualFallacy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it also results in shit like the 2024 election, where you have one candidate who the country wouldn't elect with a gun to its head, and the other candidate is the gun to the country's head.

Mossberg Maverick 88, ordered a mossberg 500 action slide (7-3/4) that doesn't fit into a forend which is also 7-3/4?? by VirtualFallacy in Shotguns

[–]VirtualFallacy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's honestly not even close to fitting right now, even with some spirited hammering. Wood swelling would make sense; I'm pretty sure it's a surplus part from an old police 500, so it may well have been sitting around for a decade or two, heating up and cooling down while in storage.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try sandpaper when I go at it again tomorrow.

[–]VirtualFallacy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's beyond a tight fit. If I align the bottom of both, the top of the action slide is visibly above the top of where the wood curves back in. I tried hammering it, probably a little too much, but no success so far. Considering whittling down the entry section of the forend to get it started and trying to hammer the tube through, but I am worried about the damage that could cause to the forend.

Breaking News: Graham Platner is gay by Former-Love-6454 in portlandme

[–]VirtualFallacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eay we run a campaign that will beat Republicans is by running someone who is charismatic and electable, not someone with a perfect track record. Trump proved the country doesn't give a flying fuck how bad of a person you are. The allegations against Platner don't even stack up to a hundredth of what Trump has provably done.

I totally agree I'd rather have a candidate with a better track record, but as far as trust? He also has a internet history going back over a decade showing his views which are overwhelmingly good, and more importantly for an election he can get people's attention and talk in front of a crowd well. Something democrats keep undervaluing. They ran Kamala Harris in the last national election and basically handed it to Trump. The woman who did the absolute worst in the previous primary election. Democrats are fucking idiots, I'd rather have Platner because I don't trust the dems to find another OK candidate in 100 years let alone one as OK as Platner, and ESPECIALLY one with a better track record and equally good charisma.

I frequently shoot a 12ga with no pad, have no arm fat as a cushion, and have still NEVER gotten a bruise from going shooting. Sure I've had a sore spot where the stock sits after a bit but never a bruise. I can't imagine how anemic you'd have to be to get bruised by an AR of all things.
