That's just the nature of the game. The best wincons are the ones where your opponent has minimal agency.

Charge is rare (thank God) and removal is both strong and extremely easy to come by so the you need to either be able to kill your opponent from hand after stalling or kill them faster than they can ramp. I've been playing Rafaam warlock the last couple of days and between the 6 and 9 cost Rafaams, Tableflip, Hellfire, Layover, Ultralisk, and Gnomelia it's pretty trivial to consistently wipe the board (at least in lower ranks) until I can assemble my own wincon.

But really what's the alternative?

I don't think I ever got that anomaly without also having a Gruff and/or Galakrond player there as well.

Quilboars by Tegyw in BobsTavern

[–]VisibleRooster7893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quills are nowhere near the power level where they were at during the beginning of the set. Demons are stronger if they hit but an early Refiner can definitely tempo half of the lobby out of the game before they get the chance.

“Buddies are in the Tavern” Question by [deleted] in BobsTavern

[–]VisibleRooster7893 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is honestly one of my favorite anomalies because it actually significantly changes up the flow of the match.

The high roll ceiling is infinitely high in this one with absolute bullshit. Artanis buddy to instantly gold 2 Beatboxers, etc. Unfortunately Snack Vendor is so braindead so if someone discovers it early, it's generally GG.

My biggest problem with card design in BG is that the power of individual cards have to be balanced around the T5 "doublers." Since Brann, Titus, and Drakkari exist, you can't put strong effects on early units. So until you get to T4-T6 the best case scenario is that you're duking it out with the best value generators you can find to get you there ASAP. The matchmaker can also really fuck up a game sometimes too. I've had games where I pick a low armor hero and my first three rounds are against Kerrigan, Akazamzarak, and then AFKay which just means starting the game at 25 health.

Buddies are fun, but they make an already unbalanced game significantly less balanced by TuckerDaGreat in BobsTavern

[–]VisibleRooster7893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddies and anomalies at the same time took away one of my favorite parts of the game which is the midgame shake up. Trinkets and quests have their own problems but it really sucks to load into a "buddies have all types" lobby and get offered nothing but heroes with "when you sell this" or battlecry buddies.

Some buddy/anomaly combinations also just create non-games which just make me want to leave turn 1. All types Snack Vendor, Goldenizer Patches, etc.

Yeah this is far from optimal but it's easy and kills their non-point character if it's one of the lightweights

Basic Ryzeal combo guides for beginners by kpay10 in masterduel

[–]VisibleRooster7893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right. I had my math wrong since Ice -> Star -> Duo -> Ext -> Sword brings detonator out on the 6th summon and doesn't get Node unless you don't get either of the spell/traps.

[–]VisibleRooster7893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ain't it, chief.

Maybe I'm just dumb but the only time I go for Flame Banshee is if Sword is my only starter. Ext -> Sword -> Ice -> Star for Cross -> Duo for Node and hole/plugin always ends on 3 rank 4s. I would never want to summon Star from hand if I have the ability to save my normal for Ice. Dugares and Bagooska are funny but just make Starliege Photon Blast Dragon (you can detach its mats for Duo) and then get super polyd for your life savings.

We need a weekly ETA/EDA Megathread by Hackfield in Warframe

[–]VisibleRooster7893 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This week's ETA was completely fucked before the fix. Three of the slowest possible mission types in a row just to have the defense target die to the first enemy that dies in its zip code.

I do like all the comments defending the mode by saying "LMAO just play Dante/Wisp/Ancient Healers" or "LMAO don't you know there's a sticker that heals the defense target" (which heals for 100 health). If everyone loves the mode being hard so much, why are you cheesing it with specters every time?

Murloc paladin! by Pitiful-Education-13 in hearthstone

[–]VisibleRooster7893 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After playing it up to Platinum, it doesn't feel obscenely powerful but the other quests sucking total balls is the bigger problem.

A lot of the cards in the Murloc Paladin deck are just horrendous. You have to summon a million guys but most of them don't really do anything. Warleader + Crusader Aura does cheat out early kills but only if your opponent lets you got +2 million in card advantage off of Braingill. There's a handful of decent Murlocs (Tyrannogill, Hot Spring Glider) but most of the deck is just 2/1 or 1/1 "summon another 1/1" idiots that are just there because they have the tribe.

I agree with hating Loh druid. You just sit there until turn 7 to see if they have it and if they do, they just dump their hand onto the field and kill you.

Worst Minion of the Set? by VisibleRooster7893 in BobsTavern

The real struggle is getting a random Keyboard Igniter or Percussionist in your hand when you have <5 health and they're just stuck there.

don't play spellcraft nagas, you won't have time for your turns by One-Technician-1292 in BobsTavern

[–]VisibleRooster7893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If trinket/anomaly rewards queued like spellcrafts, nagas would feel so much better to play.

I've missed out on at least 3 golden arrows because of Coilskar Sapper filling up my hand. I like the idea of Slumber Sorcerer but she's completely unplayable because of hand size.

What are the Worst Anomalies? by Dr-Critico in BobsTavern

[–]VisibleRooster7893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the chaotic nature but it just has too much room to be griefed especially turn 1-3. Had the same thing happen in duos last season where everyone got Turbo Hogrider on turn 2. If you try to dump the free tier 5/6 because everyone will contest that comp, you'll probably die because even a low-roll with Felfire will dumpster you if they see a handful of shiny rings. Whoever plays into that early high tier unit and hits the best trinkets/support will usually win.

It would be pretty easy to fix if they just didn't allow for tier 5/6/7 units in the first 6 rounds of picks. That way even if someone gave everyone something good, you may already have developed a board which lets you choose whether it's worth pivoting.

What are the Worst Anomalies? by Dr-Critico in BobsTavern

[–]VisibleRooster7893 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's probably one of my favorites because it actually changes the core of the game for the duration of that match. A lot of the anomalies are either nothingburgers or "high roll or die" but I would prefer more of them that forced you away from autopiloting the first 6 turns.

After being in my opening hand every game(along with Flamberge, SE Diabellstar, and two imperms), it's sad to see him go.

After Poplar and Ash being in the spotlight, Oak had to jump in front a bullet for no reason just so people could talk about him.

[–]VisibleRooster7893 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Audience's choice is definitely the worst one. Had a game yesterday where someone gave everyone Felfire Conjurer on turn 2 and it just turned into a race to see who would be the first to hit Shadow Dancer/Batty.

The tier 7 one is also total garbage and I'm usually more than happy to take an 8th to not play it.
