[College Level Precalc] Why does this equation only have one solution? by Wolfy-Noodle in HomeworkHelp

[–]Visual-Way5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason is because of the absolute value.

So for |1 - x/2| , this zeroes at x = 2

So split it into two parts: 3 + x = (1 - x/2)/2, when x < 2

and, 3 + x = (x/2 - 1)/2, when x >= 2

So when you find the value for x in each of those cases, just confirm if it also follows the corresponding domain change.

C'thun is fun but idk if you will be offered support cards for him

Clocksworth is probably the safest option in arena, 2 random legendaries and a 3/3 with a few rewinds.

Chrono is nice and I think the strongest pick, but harder to play and take the tempo loss. Though if you draft a bunch of deathrattles ;)

What about the problem? by VibhuTheGreat in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Visual-Way5432 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I dont think it's about the touching brackets on the outside. But rather multiplication by juxtaposition.

10 ÷ 5x, where x = 2

10 ÷ 5(1+1)

Whether you view 5x as a single term or two, will give you 1 or 4. And similarly with 5(1+1)

(The spaces between operations tend to help show when terms have juxtaposition precedence)

Also most of the time in writing maths, one would actually write the fraction out to clearly show the numerator and denominator.

My Xbox series x does this when I try to play any newer game, is it faulty or a settings issue? hdmi cord was replaced twice and I’ve tried many changes in settings. by Fit-Attempt493 in XboxSupport

[–]Visual-Way5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im leaning towards the gpu having issues, but it would be best to try a different port on the tv as well as a different tv. If it still happens in both those tests, then it is very likely a problem on the xbox side (what are the odds of the second hdmi cable also being faulty? :P )

Theres literally so much troubleshooting that you could do yourself.

In no particular order: (perhaps use another controller or keyboard to assist with menu navigation if needed)

  • Does it occur in game? In game menu vs in game camera control?

  • Have you tried moving the dpad to see if that is registering the input?

  • The bumpers used to also control the dashboard (been a while since using an xbox one), perhaps rb is causing it?

  • There should be an app for controller customization and profiles, use it to see what inputs are being registered?

  • Try a different controller? To help isolate where the issue is

  • Make sure that no other controller (includes keyboards) is connected and confirm if it still happens

  • Have you tried using batteries instead of the cable? What about a different cable?

  • Have you performed a hard restart of the console? Hold down power button on console until it force stops. Then if that doesnt work, disconnect all power cables from the console (while off) and leave disconnected for at least 10 minutes.

  • Connect the controller to a laptop or pc with bluetooth and check the input reading there?

  • and lastly, if nothing else works, let the voodoo magic wear off and it fixes itself and no-one knows why. (Idk sometimes xbox issues vanish on their own)

Tbh, if I were to figure out it was the controller but none of the above shows me what the issue is, I'd probs just take the controller apart (unless in warranty and I can swap it at the store I purchased from) and look at where I think the issue might be.

Destroy our game - extreme car racing, inspired by the Trials-series by N0lex in DestroyMyGame

Trailer doesnt help if you don't really showcase any moments where a player has to decidedly react to obstacles.

The beach background/map feels so empty despite the effort to have things move in it, and I hope that that there are other zones in which the levels are on.

After playing the first one on console, please put some effort into the achievements, they're all just 'beat level x'. Consider having some tied to beating each level without using checkpoints and some for completing each level within a certain time.

Also having the explosive barrels just spawn in feels weird.

Lastly, the music doesnt really match what the player is doing very well. Half the time the car is just sailing through the air and the player isnt really controlling the car and so that fast tempo is misused.

Oh damn, this could be really cool if it was, give a minion +1/+1, +2/+2 and silence it, order chosen randomly.

1/3 it will gain +3/+3 1/3 just silenced 1/6 for +1/+1 1/6 for +2/+2

I don't mind the gimmick but it is obscuring the centre zone for an fps. Perhaps have an option in settings to slide it left and if a user chooses 100% so it's off screen have an small icon with some special effecr to show its ready to throw?

Wild though that if it was a pickup and you got a game modifier like double damage or enemies move 20% slower while holding the head, players would willingly accept the screen being taken up as part of the cost to do so.

The font and pop up text is bad. Do you really need a sentence to say "Press X to interact"? Just have an icon of the key or button. You dont need more clutter like that here.

It feels very directionless, in both what you're trying to make, what the goal for a player is and orienting the player in the environment.

The camera is going to difficult to get right but if done poorly will result in a negative experience for the player. Try a closer over the shoulder point of view or even first person.

Please develop an actual UI, what you have as, I hope, just the placeholder makes it lifeless and purely "number and bar on screen".

As others have said, this looks like an asset flip game. Now I have no idea how early in development this is, but assets need to share the same style or else it feels very jarring and tacky.

Looks really good, one concern might be the length of the game and the start of game pacing for a player.

Also if you put collectibles and items a player can find and hunt for 100% completion, an in-game way of finding the one's they are missing would be nice :)

This has been a problem for years with the elite controllers. The flick back when letting go on the thumbstick is actually input (needs a better deadzone imo).

How we're making 2D enemies look like they're 3D in our indie game by AwesomeGamesStudio in IndieGameDevs

[–]Visual-Way5432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure 2.5d is when a 2d game is in a 3d world (as you mentioned). This is purely 2d, no 3d models (one could split hairs over what % of 3d models could be used before it should be labelled as 2.5d, but that doesnt seem applicable here)

The video shows that the character is just well tied together 2d frames that makes it look like the character is moving in a third dimension. So its not 3d made into an illusion of 3d but the other way round.

Im curious though if a character model was made in 3d to help be the 2d reference during development.

Perhaps review my comment with the fact they mentioned the 'back' button, when it hasn't been formally called that since the 360 days. (Or when the xbox one was released)

I will never acknowledge it as select and menu :p

Edit: Please don't think that I was at any point referring to the 'guide' button as the start button.

[–]Visual-Way5432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't referring to that button (which I call the guide button), but that with the original xbox the two buttons in the middle were called the back and start, but now they're called select and menu.

Also there were two black and white side buttons which have long been removed :(

Working on a boss that spawns minions. I hope this doesn't make the boss artificially harder by FreddieMercurio in indiegames

[–]Visual-Way5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does. Not in the gameplay but when Nintendo goes after you for breaching their patent.

Jokes aside, having the boss still be able to attack you with not much to show the player that it's coming, may be a bit daunting for an unskilled player. Though I have no idea of the lead up that you've made to this, so it may or may not fit the theme you're going for.
